1 CAMPSITE 411 Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, Inc. What is provided for us at each campsite/cabin? Although each living unit (tents or cabins) is unique, you can expect to find certain unit equipment in every unit which includes: cast iron for cooking over the fire (one large and one small each dutch oven and frying pans); one rake, metal bucket and broom; one-two shovels; fire extinguisher; three dish pans; one trash can; clearly posted directions to the nearest hospital and clearly posted emergency weather procedures. Some cabins come equipped with almost everything you need for your weekend including kitchens, others have basic cots or mattresses for sleeping only (you cook over the campfire). Most of our tent units have flush toilets, but some have latrines so read the description for each unit closely! Be sure to bring basic cleaning supplies with you each visit (to wash dishes & wipe down appliances and counters and clean the bathrooms). Each unit has a posted kaper chart for use when preparing for check out at the end of your visit. When do we submit our troop camping application? Changes to registration effective 4/1/2016. Registration opens on April 1 each year for Troop Camping for the entire Girl Scout year (October thru September). Be flexible! List more than one choice in each category camp, campsite, accommodations and dates. Make sure to list the camp trained adults on your application. When are the units available? Always double check the online availability to see when units are available. Council staff host events on site and many weekends are reserved for these programs. Cabin units are open year-round. Platform tent camping begins the first weekend of March and ends the weekend before Thanksgiving. How accessible are the units for people who use a wheelchair or have limited mobility? Accessibility is different at each camp and unit. Each campsite and many of the program areas are listed by camp and campsite so that you can determine if the unit will meet the needs of everyone in your troop/group. Every effort is made to accommodate needs if we have prior knowledge of the need, however we cannot guarantee that every area of the camps is barrier free or wheelchair accessible. Troop Camping Confirmation and Arrival Information Approximately 2-3 weeks after the opening registration date troops will receive an electronic confirmation with a payment coupon. One week before your troop camping weekend, the camp ranger will send you an electronic welcome to camp requesting your arrival time and confirming its your arrival. 3 CAMP PINE VALLEY BARROW LODGE Overnight: Maximum 24 people Overnight fee (1 or 2 nights): $200 Day use fee: $125 or tie-dye TREE HOUSE UNIT Overnight: Maximum 32 people. Overnight fee (1 or 2 nights): $250 Day use fee: $125 or tie-dye allowed in the buildings, but they may be done in the basement in the designated area. Firewood is provided with this unit. DINING HALL Overnight: Not available for overnight use Day: Maximum 125 people Day use fee: $200 building only Food service available for groups of 50 or more persons additional cost. or tie-dye Centrally heated building with 6 bunk beds and 12 mattresses for sleeping a total of 24. Outdoor Fire ring and picnic tables The sleeping arrangements in this unit do not support female and male mixed group overnights. Main building with large open meeting room, loft, central heat and air conditioning, fireplace. Full kitchen includes refrigerator, stove, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, garbage liners, coffee maker and toaster bring your own cleaning supplies. Full bathroom includes toilets, showers, toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels. Four Tree House cabins with heat and air conditioning, four bunk beds and mattresses in each (eight people per cabin). Outdoors Picnic tables fire ring located near by The entire unit is connected by decks, ramps and raised walkways with steps at many entry points. Screened building with fireplace. Tables with attached benches. Covered porch on three sides; bathroom facilities. Ice, water faucet and refrigeration equipment not available unless arranged in advance. Use of the dining hall does not include use of the kitchen. Most of this unit is largely accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The general terrain is level and rough. There is ramp access to the building. Additional assistance may be required to reach the fire ring if mobility limitations exist. This unit has available parking. Entry into the bathroom is flat. There is not a wheelchair accessible toilet stall or grab bars. The shower stalls are roll-in stalls without grab bars or flexible shower heads. This site is accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The terrain is flat; with a steep slope to access the fire ring. Access to the building includes a ramp. Access to sleeping cabins is not roll in. This unit has available parking. Entry into the bathroom is flat. There is one accessible toilet staff with raised stool and grab bars. There is one shower stall with grab bars, adjustable shower head and roll in entry. Additional assistance may be required to reach the fire ring if mobility limitations exist. The general terrain around the fire ring is mostly hilly with some level areas. This building is mostly accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. Seating on benches, and hill behind ring. This area does not have a bathroom close to it. If rented by itself, a $50 charge will apply so that porta-potties can be provided. Additional assistance may be required to reach the fire ring if mobility limitations exist. The general terrain around the fire ring is mostly level or flat. VOLLEYBALL COURT & BEACH Day: Maximum 50 people No charge for use but must be reserved in advance Sandpit volleyball court and wading beach area. Electrical outlet and street light for evening use of volleyball court. This area does not have a bathroom close to it. If rented by itself, a $50 charge will apply so that porta-potties can be provided. This site is accessible to a person using a wheelchair or with limited mobility. The terrain is varied including hills, slopes and flat level areas. Additional assistance may be required reaching the site for persons using a wheelchair for mobility or with limited mobility.
