Cider mills, corn mazes, indoor and outdoor haunted attractions, hayrides and hay-forts, petting farms, pony rides, U-pick apples and pumpkins, horseback riding and harvest festivals all the things you love about fall are here in Livingston County. You will be able to ride the hay wagon out to the patch to pick out your own pumpkin. Night time hay rides are also available with a bonfire for groups and families. Harvest Fest Main Street, Downtown Brighton brightoncoc.org September 27, am-3pm. Come enjoy the harvest of our local farmers along with beautiful flowers and handmade décor for the fall season. This family event includes live entertainment, a chair caning demonstration, petting farm, bounce house, and pumpkin painting for the children. Legend of Sleepy Howell Downtown Howell downtownhowell.org October 25, 5-9pm. The 12th Annual Legend of Sleepy Howell continues with trick-or-treating, giveaways and games, costume contests, live music, hayrides, creepy campfires and s mores, ghostly graveyard, inflatables for kids and teens, bobbing for apples, and the Headless Horseman 5K/10K Run. Headless Horseman 5K/10K & Monster Mile Downtown Howell howellrecreation.org October 25, Monster Mile 7pm, 5K/10K 7:30pm. Get into the Halloween spirit in Sleepy Howell by participating in the 6th Annual Headless Horseman 5K/10K. Runners are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Halloween character. The run will start and finish near State Street in downtown Howell. Races will start and finish near State Street. All early registrants will receive a race packet and longsleeve t-shirt. Customer Appreciation Day is Sunday, September 14 with free entertainment and discounts. Established in 1920, Erwin Orchards is a family tradition for thousands each season. Everyone loves the wagon ride out to hand pick apples and pumpkins. U-pick red and yellow raspberries are available throughout fall until a frost. You ll love the famous apple spice and pumpkin donuts, caramel apples, Queen s apple sundae, and cider slush. Kid s activities include free hay maze, petting and feeding Nigerian Dwarf goats, tricycle trail, daytime corn maze, and Halloween attractions. The hearse show is open to all makes and models, regardless of their condition. Come out, show off your rides and enjoy the day with like-minded enthusiasts. We ask that the vehicle was purposely built and in service at one time (or currently) as an actual hearse, combo, or flower car. Appreciate the scenic beauty of the Howell Nature Center s 270 acres as you traverse the trails that stay entirely on the property. Event includes competitive 5K run, and non-competitive 5K and 1 mile walks. Enjoy a live wildlife encounter and learn more about this year s mascot, Frasier, the Sandhill Crane. Proceeds benefit Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education, which treats over 2,300 injured and orphaned wild animals every year. Kensington Metropark 2240 W Buno Road, Brighton metroparks.com In October, listen to the clip-clop of the horses hooves as they pull the covered wagon on an old fashioned hayride to the U-pick pumpkin patch, weekdays 10am-2pm and weekends 12-4pm. Pack a picnic lunch because you will work up an appetite exploring over 4,400 acres of this breathtaking park. Rollerblade and biking enthusiasts will discover miles of paved paths winding through a canopy of trees bursting with color. Join us for the Farm Center s Halloween Party, October 31 at 10am. Group tours, hayrides, and bonfires are available year-round, call for dates and times. One of the many park highlights is a relaxing pontoon cruise on Kent Lake September thru mid-october, private and public rides are available. Tour the farm and view traditional demonstrations, visit with food and craft vendors, be entertained by Rosco the Clown, and more. Also, take a hayride to and from the pumpkin patch to pick your perfect pumpkin. Most activities are free with a park pass. Standard public hayride rates apply. Costume clad little ones will experience interpretive stops along the Nature Trails with a Halloween theme. Upon your return to the Nature Center, enjoy cider and donuts, as well as Rosco the Clown. Join us for a monster splashin good time at the Howell Aquatic Center. Come dressed in your costume for a chance to win some prizes, explore our kid-friendly haunted sunken ship, take a walk in our graveyard, and get your fortune told. Then swim in our spooky family pool with lots of games and prizes. The whole family, including your little monsters, will remember the hayride through the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and The Ghost Town of Tombstone to the U-pick pumpkin patch. Explore the family-friendly evergreen maze and find the magic pumpkin to win a small prize. The little tykes will be in good spirits as they enjoy the play area and visit all the farm animals. In case of inclement weather, there is a covered eating area for apple cider and donuts and a covered wagon for the hayrides. Group rates and reservations are available. Village of Pinckney Spooktacular Downtown Pinckney villageofpinckney.org Friday, October 24, Spooktacular 6-pm, Spooky Forest 6:30-:30pm. Downtown Pinckney will be transformed into a spooky village full of fun and treats for everyone. Events in and around the square will include trunk-or-treats, a spooky forest, Jack O Lantern contest, costume contest, games, refreshments, and music. This is a free event. Parshallville Historic Cider Mill 507 Parshallville Road, Hartland parshallvillecidergristmill.com Open 7 days a week, 9am-6pm, beginning first Saturday of Labor Day weekend through mid-november. Because they are a member of the Michigan Cider Makers Guild, this grist mill s cider is held to exceptional standards. This wonderful Michigan historical landmark is one of the last remaining water powered grist mills in the state. Smell the aroma and taste of freshly made cider, spiced donuts, caramel apples, and apple pies from the pie shop. Guests will enjoy browsing in their gift shop or taking a nature walk along the North Ore Creek. Call for reservations for a school trip

Festival hours: Friday, September 16, 7-10pm, Saturday, September 27, 11am-11pm, and Sunday, September 2, 11am-5pm. The 30th annual fall festival offers something for all ages. The Pumpkinfest parade starts off the weekend events, along with a 5K and 1-Mile Run. Stroll the streets of downtown and enjoy a variety of carnival-style games, moonwalks, family-friendly entertainment, food vendors, beer tent, and several live music acts. Free parking and shuttle service is available to downtown. Spicer Orchards, Cider Mill & 14 Carriage House Winery Clyde Road, Fenton spicerorchards.com spicerswinery.com Four generations of the Spicer family have been farming in Michigan and the orchard now has 15,000 fruit trees on 160 acres. Stop in to view the homemade donut shop, caramel apple stations, produce market, country store and gift shop, children s play area, and the winery. Enjoy wine by the glass on their outdoor wine-tasting patio. Fresh cider and hot donuts are served all day. Activities include U-pick apples and pumpkins, a daytime corn maze, animal barn/petting zoo, weekend musical entertainment, tractor-pulled hayrides to the orchard and pumpkin patch, and train rides. In the old days life on the farm was no picnic, as you will learn from the antique tractor and machinery exhibit. Work up an appetite exploring the arts and crafts fair and then savor the flavors of sweet corn and home-style barbeque during this historic celebration. Watch the cider press as it makes delicious cider and try a free sample. Free wagon rides to pick-your-own apples and pumpkins The Terrorfied Forest 245 Swarthout Road, Pinckney terrorfied.com September 12 thru November 1, pm. You will no doubt be petrified by the terrors lurking down the dark pathways and behind the many trees as you try and wind your way through this haunted outdoor attraction. Acclaimed as one of Livingston County s premiere haunted attractions. This extremely scary haunted outdoor attraction is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. A food and beverage booth is available. The Terrorfied Manor Swarthout Road, Pinckney terrorfied.com September 12 thru November 1, pm. Will you survive The Terrorfied Manor and live to tell the tale? If you dare to take on the scare, you will want to venture into this stimulating two-story haunted house. Different thrills in every room where featured frights include creatures of the night that will make your blood run cold. This haunted indoor attraction is not recommended for children under 10 years of age. A food and beverage booth is available. For a more relaxing time, feast your eyes on the colorful landscapes of autumn, while taking a scenic tractor-drawn hayride followed by a warm and toasty bonfire. Brighton s inaugural Farm to Table Experience, an outdoor dinner featuring delicious organic food from local farmers paired with perfectly matched Michigan wines. This unique community dinner will feature Executive Chef, Steve Pilon of The Wooden Spoon and local Sommelier, Paul Hannah of Just Grape Juice. It s the perfect setting for your next fishing day trip, as you can catch blue gill, sunfish, and smallmouth bass in the peaceful waters of Maltby Lake. Or try shore fishing along the river.
