It has a territorial area of million km², which is distributed in Coast region (10.6%), Andean region (31.5%) and Amazonregion (57.9% %). Also, houses anestimated population of 31 million (INEI2007) Tourism is one of main economic activities and has been declared of national interest for Peru, as an engine of economic, social and environmental development andinvolves or economic sectors in itsdevelopment. Tourism promotes alliance between state, private and community allowing inclusion of last, contributing to improvement of quality oflife of settlers. Peru has a total of 212 National Protected Natural Areas; 76 Natural Areas of National Administration, 17 Regional Conservation Areas and 119 Private Conservation Areas, whose main objective is sustainable Peru, through conservation of representative samples of biological diversity. Protected Natural Areas coverapproximately 17.26% of Peruvian National territory. Objective "To consolidate Peru as a competitive, sustainable, quality and safe tourist destination, where tourist experiences are unique contributing to economic, social, environmental and cultural country Policies of Tourism Sector Incorporate continuous improvement in its processes, as a requirement for competitiveness, improvement of quality of services and products and increase oftouristawareness in harmonywith environment. Strengn ties with regional and local economy, increasing ir tourism potential, for social and cultural benefit, improving ir environment, making it an ideal place to live, work and enjoy. To promote sustainable tourism projects and activities that developmentofcommunities. Promote and implement measures that control and prevention of environmental pollution and conservation ofbiodiversity. Main Instruments For Tourism Development National Strategic Plan of Tourism of Peru National Plan for Tourism Quality National Strategic Craft Plan In Peru, tourism sector has grown at an average rate of 7.5% in last five years, whose activities have been promoted through Peru brand in various advertising campaigns and market strategies that have contributed to positioning of country's image in 22 markets in Asia and Latin America. 1 2

Its objective is to contribute, from rural areas, to sustainable touri sm as a tool of economic-social Peru. Achievements 76 Community Based - Enterprises in 16 regions. 18,800 direct and indirect beneficiaries. 11% growth in tourist flow 13% a ccumulated a nnual economic growth. About 135,000 foreign visitors practice tourism i n rura l areas managed by community-based organizations. USD 2.5 mi l lion a s a contribution of tourism to rural economy. 3 4

It has benefited 59 producers in 4 regions: Cusco, Arequipa, Puno, and Ica. 4 future regions to implement initiative Manu National Park Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve tourist visits by 2016 Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu Cerros de Amotape National Park It is a means to economic growth and social country. 420 families benefited USD sales 43 commercial links established between associations / producers and providers of tourism services Tumbe s, Piura, Lambayeque and La Libertad. 5 Opportunities and challenges on Sustainable tourism development for inclusive growth and job creation Touri sm is 1 of 10 sectors capable of promoting change towards a Green Economy. Touri sm in protected natural areas to promote local communities. Strengning competitiveness of local handicrafts. Development of programs, products, routes and tourist circuits that poverty reduction. Implementing strategies to make tourism a tool for conservation a nd s ustainable use of natural and cultural resources. Implementing and strengning policies and ins truments for tourism activities that benefit host communities. Touri sm is a s trategic tool for conservation of Natural Protected Areas.
