E S CO R T E D TO U R 3 DAY 2 After arrival on the island of Flores, we will be transferred to our hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure to get acquainted with the town of Santa Cruz das Flores. DAY 3 Our tour today begins by heading northeastern, stopping at Ponta dos Cedros and the town of Ponta Delgada to view the island of Corvo. Our of 17 days of exploring, sightseeing and experiencing the islands in the Azores. next stop is the lighthouse where we ll be able to see Ilheu do Monchinque, the furthest Western point of Europe. As we circle the island and head toward Fajazinha we stop at several Lakes and observe flora of Flores. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch our tour continues along the Southwest stopping at the Rocha dos Bordoes, basalt rock formations. The next stop will be the Nossa Senhora do Rosario Church to visit and view the town of Lajes, before returning back to our hotel. DAY 4 We depart in the morning by boat for our Corvo island tour. As the boat proceeds to Corvo, our local skipper takes us along the shoreline of Flores to view the caves, faults and waterfalls. Our first view point is to see the village, named Vila do Corvo. We then head north to the Monte Gordo Caldeirao, an enormous caldera with an unusual topography. We return to Vila do Corvo for our lunch. After lunch you will be able to explore the town and photograph the windmills before returning to the island of Flores. This tour operates weather permitting. DAY 5 We depart to the island of Faial, upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel, the rest of your day will be at your leisure to explore the town of Horta. DAY 6 We begin our full day tour to discover the island of Faial by driving through the city of Horta. Horta is most famous for its cosmopolitan yacht harbor. We next stop at the scenic point of Espalamaca to view the harbor and all its surroundings, followed by a visit to the Caldeira. The Caldeira is a large crater in the central part of the island, where we view the beautiful natural landscape. As we descend the center of the island, we encounter cattle grazing on hill sides. Our tour s next destination is the Capelinhos volcano area, where the volcano last erupted in Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, after lunch we stop at a camping area with a reconstructed home depicting a typical old farm Faial house. DAY 7 In the morning we take a short ferry ride over to the island of Pico. After dropping our luggage off at the hotel, we begin the full day tour of Pico Mountain Island beginning at the famous wine vineyards (Criacao Velha), recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in We continue on to Lajes do Pico stopping at the beautiful Church in Sao Mateus. As we proceed we make several stops at handicraft exhibition, cheese factory, whaling museum (Museu dos Baleeiros), etc. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant as the tour proceeds around the island. We continue our tour towards Sao Roque do Pico stopping briefly at the Arcos do Cachorro, an impressive display of rock formations (one in the shape of a dog), coming out of the sea, as well as to taste the various liquors of the region. DAY 8 Today we depart on a full day tour to Sao Jorge Island. We head towards the western part of the island, visiting a forestry park and cheese factory. We travel through Fajas, Faja do Ouvidor and Faja dos Cubres. As we travel around the island, our lunch will be at a local restaurant in Topo. After lunch we stop by Manadas to see the beautiful church of Santa Barbara. Our final stop before heading back to Velas, is the town of Urzelina where we will see the remains of a church buried under lava from the eruption of Prior to returning to our hotel in Pico by ferry we ll have lanche in Velas. DAY 9 Today we make our way back to the airport, for a quick flight to the island of Terceira, upon arrival you will be transferred to Hotel and the rest of the day will be at leisure to explore the historical center of Angra do Heroismo (World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1983). DAY 10 Today we take a full day tour to explore the island of Terceira The Lilac Island. We depart for Monte Brazil passing by the beautiful city of Angra do Heroismo stopping at Pico das Cruzinhas. This is the highest point on Monte Brasil, with a beautiful view of the city and its outskirts. The tour continues towards the eastern side of the island, showing the typical settlements and rural architecture and colorful Imperios. We stop in the town of Sao Sebastiao, where the church is one of the oldest of the Azores. After lunch we drive to Praia da Vitoria, and then onto Serra do Cume, with beautiful views overlooking the town of Lajes and the ocean. Our final stop is Biscoitos, a wine area, where we visit a wine cellar, and a taste of the wine is a must. DAY 11 In the morning you will have time to do any last minute shopping, before departing to the airport in the early afternoon. Afterwards we will be brought to the airport for a quick flight to the island of Graciosa. After checking into the hotel you will have the rest of the day to enjoy the town of Santa Cruz da Graciosa. DAY 12 Today we embark on a full day tour to explore the island of Graciosa. We head to Monte Nossa Senhora da Ajuda that has breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside. On our travels around the island, we stop to see windmills and the Farol da Ponta da Barca. Here, there are views of volcanic formations in the shape of a whale, (Ilheus). Afterwards we drive to the unique geological formation of Caldeira and Furna de Enxofre, (Sulphur Cavern) - (admission optional to descend into the cave). While we circle the island we stop at various scenic areas to view the different points of the island as well as to have lunch. We depart in the afternoon to Sao Miguel Island. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your Hotel. The rest of the day will be spent at your leisure to either enjoy the pool or visit city of Ponta Delgada. DAY 13 Today we will be off on a full day tour, to the southern and northern part of Sao Miguel. We travel along the coast heading toward Vila Franca, stopping at the pottery factory in Lagoa, we then proceed to Ribeira Grande, Ladeira Velha and a thrilling climb to Pico do Ferro with a magnificent view of both valley and lake of Furnas. We continue to the town of Furnas taking the southern coast to visit the Caldeiras, which are natural hot water springs. Lunch will be served in Furnas (Cozido). After lunch we continue on our trip to Ribeira dos Caldeiroes, Nordeste via Salto do Cavalo, and return to our hotel in the evening. Sete Cidades. A typical lunch will then be served. After lunch we head to the Lagoa do Fogo, making stops in Ribeira Grande and Caldeira Velha. At the top of Lagoa do Fogo we are able to see both the north and south coasts of São Miguel. DAY 16 We depart in the early morning to Santa Maria for a full day tour with lunch. Our first stop is Anjos, the location of the first landfall of Christopher Columbus on his return from America. We then proceed to the historical Church of Sao Pedro, followed by a stop at the scenic point of Lagoinha. We continue to the town of Santa Barbara and visit the beautiful Church of Santa Barbara in the Baroque Style. We then travel west to Sao Lourenco for a splendid bird s-eye view of the bay and its Cliffside vineyards. After that, we head to the pretty village of Santo Espirito, visiting the Ethnographic Museum and the XVI Century Church. According to legend, this is where the first Mass was celebrated in the Azores. On our return to Vila do Porto we pass through the town of Almagreira. In the evening, we depart back to Ponta Delgada, to our hotel. DAY 17 Today the day is at leisure to complete any last minute shopping or relax. In the evening we will be going to a local restaurant for our farewell dinner. DAY 18 Our final morning in the Azores will be at your leisure and preparing for the trip home. We will be checking out by noon from the hotel and transfer to the DAY 14 Today is a free day to enjoy the island of Sao Miguel. DAY 15 Today we will be off on our full day tour of Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo. We begin by making a short visit to a pineapple plantation. We begin by traveling along the southern coast heading toward Vila Franca where we will stop at the Pottery Factory in Lagoa, followed by stops at scenic points. We then head towards the Lagoa das Furnas, to view the geothermic ovens that cook the traditional cozido, afterwards we head towards the village of Furnas where lunch will be served. After lunch we will walk around the village to view Caldeiras, then depart the village. Our first stop is at the nature park of Ribeira das Caldaroes, known for its water mill and several waterfalls. We then proceed to the village of Nordeste to see the town. Afterwards we head to the eastern most point of the island Ponta do Arnel observing the small fishing port and its lighthouse. We then proceed to the town of Povoacao, but first making stops at the viewpoints of Ponta do Sossego and Ponta da Madrugada, with its views of the ocean and mountains. Once in Povoacao, we stop to have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch we make our way around the village, which was first settled in 14th century. We return to Ponta Delgada via the southern coast, afterwards. Santiago. After that we make a climb to the Vista do Rei for a panoramic view of the two lakes of Sete Cidades. A typical lunch will then be served. After lunch we head to the Lagoa do Fogo, making stops in Ribeira Grande and Caldeira Velha. We arrive in the Furnas Valley, but first stopping at the the Pico de Vara to get an overhead look of the lake and the town. We make a stop at the lake to see our lunch being pulled from the geothermic oven, before stopping for lunch. Lunch will be served in Furnas (Cozido). After lunch you will have time to visit the town. We return to Ponta Delgada via the southern road, stopping at view points in Vila Franca do Campo, before arriving back at the hotel. DAY 6 Your last day in the Azores, is at your leisure. In the afternoon you will meet for a half day tour of the city of Porto. The Invicta city, is Portugal s second biggest city. On your half day tour you will visit the following sites: Lello Bookshop, one of the oldest bookshops in Portugal and is said to inspire the Harry Potter series. The Sao Bento train station, known for its azulejo patterns that tell stories of the history of Portugal. Torre de Clergios and igreja, a Baroque style church with its bell tower that skies above the city. Your final visit is to a Porto Wine cellar where you will be able to try the fortified wine. DAY 3 Today is a free day to enjoy the city of Porto. You have plenty of optional tours to take, such as a cruise down the Douro river, or visit to one of Porto s famous vineyards. DAY 4 In the morning you will be transferred for a quick train ride to Lisbon. Afterwards you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will get to take a city tour of Lisbon. The tour begins in the Belem area where you will visit the Belem tower, the ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. Your next visit is to the Jeronimos Monastary, where the famous Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama is laid to rest, and a final visit to the Coaches Museum, where you will be able to see the horse drawn carriages from the Royal House of Portugal.. You will be able to sample the pasteis de belem, a Portuguese pastries. The tour then continues onto the Alfama, Lisbon s oldest quarter, where fado music is heard at night. 8 TERMS & CO N DI T I O N S RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT Receipt of a deposit of $300 per person, is required to hold your reservation on our individual tours. The balance is due 60 days before departure. For bookings made within 30 days of departure, payment must be made by credit cards. PRICES All prices are subject to increase up to the receipt of final payment due to any increase in our costs, such as, but not limited to: increases in air, land or sea fares, fuel cost, and currency fluctuations. All taxes, fuel surcharges, security charges and any other taxes or charges imposed by airlines, airports, cruise lines, governments, etc. are not included in price. After final payment the only price increases can be for newly imposed governmental taxes. Gratuities not specifically mentioned are excluded. UNUSED TOUR ELEMENTS No refund will be given for any unused tour features, whether because of customer s choice, operational reasons, because of bad weather or any other reason. ERRORS. In case of printing, typographical error, computer error, verbal or human billing error, we reserve the right to invoice or re-invoice participants with corrected billing. I have been on two trips with TourAzores and both have been amazing... My wife and I have traveled to many places around the world but Portugal, and particularly the Azores, will always be our favorite. We look forward to going back sometime soon and will definitely use TourAzores again to book our trip. - Justin LaBerge NAMES MUST MATCH PASSPORT The name given on your booking must match the name on your passport, and in-turn, the name on your air ticket. Any variation between the spelling of your name on your air-ticket and passport will require re-ticketing, often at the cost of a completely new ticket. FEES FOR AIR-TICKET NAME CHANGES/REVISIONS/CANCELLATIONS Name corrections before ticketing will incur a minimum fee of $50 per passenger, and are subject to fare, and or flight schedule changes. Once air tickets are issued, a minimum $300 revision/cancellation fee will apply to each ticket, plus fare, and or flight changes if applicable. This charge is not covered by insurance and subject to change. BAGGAGE Each escorted and individual tour member is limited to one large suitcase and one small carry on due to limited baggage area on buses. For some airlines and taxi/coach transfers, extra luggage may be subject to an extra charge due on the spot. THANK YOU so much for arranging the perfect trip for us.
