2 Fátima is one of the most important religious destinations in the world. Every year thousands of people make pilgrimages to this site. We propose a unique experience into inner Portugal to get to know this path of devotion with a route that follows the Tagus river bank and through the Parque Natural das Serras d Aire e Candeeiros (Aire and Candeeiros Mountains Natural Park). A walking pilgrimage to Fátima is a religious tradition in Portugal that began with the Apparitions of Our Lady in Fátima in 1917 and nowadays, thousands of people, from all over the country and abroad, travel on foot to Fátima to fulfil different promises made to the Virgin. Great part of the route follows the Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James to the town of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in Spain) and this allows for an even richer experience. Take part in this experience and visit different cities and towns in Portugal, taste the unique food and visit Fátima, city of faith. 3 Day 1 - Welcome to Lisbon Reception at the airport. Transfer to the Hotel. Free afternoon to explore Lisbon. Lisbon s Cathedral Day 2 - Lisbon / Póvoa de Santa Iria I 26km Transfer to the starting point at Sé de Lisboa (Lisbon s Cathedral) in the historical centre of the city. The beginning of this first day is very interesting as the walk crosses the typical neighbourhoods of Alfama and São Vicente with their small and traditional streets. Nations Park - Lisbon This day is all about crossing Lisbon. Although the streets are beautiful it is necessary to travel with a great deal of caution in this part of the route due to the traffic. Be prepared, this is one of the longest routes in the programme. The end of the route is at Póvoa de Santa Iria, where there will be a transfer waiting to take you to the hotel. Day 3 - Póvoa de S. Iria - Vila F. de Xira I 17km Transfer to the route at Parque da Praia dos Pescadores (Fisherman's Beach Park) on the bank of the Tagus River.

4 Day 3 - Póvoa de S. Iria - Vila F. de Xira I 17km Transfer to the route at Parque da Praia dos Pescadores (Fisherman's Beach Park) on the bank of the Tagus River. This starting point follows a pedestrian route alongside the river and leads to the town of Alverca where the modern Igreja dos Pastorinhos (Church of the Little Shepherds) may be visited. After Alverca the walk continues across an industrial park to reach Alhandra, a quiet town by the river where you can see the 16th century Church of Saint John the Baptist that has a great view of the town and river. The final stage ends at Vila Franca de Xira and is along a pedestrian route by the river. During the afternoon you can visit Igreja da Misericórdia (Mercy Church), Pelourinho (Pillory) and Museu Municipal (Municipal Museum). Day 4 - Vila F. de Xira - Azambuja I 18km Today s path is mainly in rural areas passing Carregado s power plant and via Vila Nova da Rainha a town with a small 14th century church which has beautiful tiles within. The day s trip ends in Azambuja. In the afternoon it is possible to walk about and visit the Museu Sebastião Mateus Arenque (museum) and the beautiful 16th century church of Azambuja and attend mass. 5 Day 5 - Azambuja - Porto Muge I 18km The day starts by crossing the town of Azambuja and from there the remainder of the route is in the countryside with plenty of crop fields. The route goes towards the river and passes the villages of Reguengo and Valada and finally Porto Muge where the Ponte Rainha Dona Amélia (Queen Amélia s Bridge) can be seen. This is the final trek of the day and there will be a transfer to the town of Cartaxo, the Portuguese wine capital. In the afternoon the Museu Rural e do Vinho (Rural and Wine Museum), Igreja Matriz (Main Church) or Praça 15 de Dezembro (15th December Square) in the town s centre may be visited. Today s path enters the Parque Nacional das Serras d Aire e Candeeiros (Aire and Candeeiros Mountains Natural Park), with its houses and enclosures made of stone and its beautiful landscape. The route passes Olhos d Água, a river beach where it is possible to relax, swim in the river or visit Centro de Ciência Viva do Alviela (Alviela s Living Science Centre). The day ends at the village of Covão do Feto. Transfer to hotel in Alcanena and the rest of the afternoon may be spent visiting Museu da Boneca (Doll Museum) or Igreja de São Pedro (St. Peter s Church).
