2 Mountain Biking Tour Portugal Wild Coast MTB Overview: The Portugal Wild Coast is an incredible MTBiking route program along the most beautiful coast-line of Portugal. From the outskirts of Lisbon to the southernmost point of Europe, you ll discover and admire the natural beauty of the different scenery, offering stunning coastal views along the way, crossing two natural Reserves and other similar places. It will be a mix of mountain and sea, starting in Belém and going to Cape Espichel and Arrábida Mountain on the first day. The following days will consist in the crossing of Grândola and Cercal Mountains. You will discover some small fishing villages and some abandoned fortresses which remind us of the time when this coast was ravaged by pirates! The trip finishes at the southernmost point in Europe, Cape Saint Vincent which adds a dramatic and historical full stop to this wonderful trip. Highlights: 1) Crossing the Natural Park of Arrábida, and its stunning views over the sea. 2) Quiet Cycling through cork trees forest and pine tree landscapes 3) Nice sandy beaches in the Natural Reserve of SW Alentejano 4) Beautiful sceneries and wild nature 5) Storks nest hanging from the cliffs, the only place in the world!!! 6) Small villages and unforgettable places in the way. 7) Cycle on the cliffs over the Atlantic 8) Nature surrounds you and fills your senses 9) Traditional food and fresh fish from the Atlantic Coast 10) Ends at the most Southern point of Europe Tour Description: Day 1: Arrival at Lisbon Transfer from the airport to a Hotel in Lisbon Lodging in a 3* Hotel in Lisbon. Day 2: Bike from Lisbon to Sesimbra (66km, 1000m elevation gain). The trip will start either from the Hotel or the Fluvial Station in Belém (on this case a transfer from the Hotel to the Fluvial Station will be provided). After crossing the river to the southern bank on the boat, the tour will begin in and the first section will take place near the ocean with a mix of trails and secondary roads. You will get to the spectacular Cape Espichel with breathtaking views of the cliffs over the Atlantic Ocean. There is also

3 a famous sanctuary built extremely close to the edge of the tall cliffs, the Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Cabo Espichel. The track continues now on the southern coast following several single tracks until we get to Sesimbra, a small fishing town on the southern slope of Arrábida. Lodging in Sesimbra Hotel & Spa, 4* hotel Day 3: Bike from Sesimbra to Grândola (Herdade das Barradas) (75km, 900m elevation gain). A fantastic day with emphasis on crossing the Arrábida Natural Park, a group of small limestone hills near the ocean and a rare example of a very ancient Mediterranean vegetation, result of a very special microclimate and sharp topography. You will arrive at the city of Setúbal, where we will embark on a ferry to cross the Sado River. You will disembark at Tróia Peninsula and will follow the asphalt road to escape the sandy beaches that connect Tróia to the mainland. The passage through Comporta is marked by the track between the rice fields. At the end of this long day we will reach Herdade das Barradas, a beautiful place close to Grândola town. Lodging in Herdade das Barradas, a charming Guest-House Day 4: Bike from Grândola to Porto Covo (69km, +1400m elevation gain). The crossing of the Hills of Grândola will be through beautiful trails between Cork Oak hoods. The day will be mostly marked by the well-known ups and downs of this area. We will pass through some typical small villages and ride mostly on Cork hoods. You will enter the Natural Park close to the sea and arrive to Porto Covo typical village. Lodging in Porto Covo Hotel 3* Day 5: Bike from Porto Covo to Odeceixe (72km, 700m elevation gain) Start this day on trails close to the Ocean and pass along Pessegueiro Island. Then we return inland and go again on a dirt road through some cork hoods. Pass close to Vila Nova Milfontes and get closer to the ocean until we get to the fantastic promontory of Cape Sardão, where you will follow a spectacular mountain bike trail over the cliffs until we reach near the typical Zambujeira-do-Mar village. When arriving at Odeceixe, you will cross the stream Ribeira de Ceixe, leaving this way the Alentejo region and entering the Algarve. Lodging at Casas do Moinho, a charming Guest-House in Odeceixe Day 6: Bike from Odeceixe to Pedralva (67km, 1200m elevation gain) Leaving Odeceixe behind after visiting its incredible beaches, the next few kilometers will be following a funny single track next to an irrigation channel. You will arrive early at Aljezur with time to explore the narrow streets next to the castle. Then follow the rural trails between pine hoods until we get to the Bordeira village. Your next stop will be the amazingly beautiful Amado Beach. To get there we will go through valleys where we can find exuberant vegetation. You will find the Carrapateira Pontal a beautiful peninsula that you will go around by bike. This day end in Pedralva village the Slow Village Hotel. Lodging at Pedralva Slow village Hotel, in Pedralva Day 7: Bike from Pedralva to Sagres (40km, 500m elevation gain) You will follow a coastal route that will enable us to discover some of the most beautiful and secret beaches of Vicentina coast. Then ride south along Algarve wild coast till Cape S. Vicente - the southwestern-most point of Continental Europe. Lodging in Sagres in a 4* new hotel over the sea, The Memmo Baleeira Hotel Day 8: Departure Farewell at LISBON airport. Transfer from Sagres to Lisbon (3.30h drive)

4 Tour Profile : Type: MTBiking Tour Duration: 8 days / 7 nights / 6 days MTbiking Begin: Lisbon End: Sagres (Algarve) Grade: FIT to Challenging Distance: 40 to 75km / day (average 64 km cycling per day) Dates: March through June and September through November; Summer months of July and August can be extremely hot, making cycling quite uncomfortable, and the coastline can get quite crowded with tourists. We would therefore advice against travel during these months. Any date subject to hotel availability. Accommodation: Superior / Comfort 7 nights (1 night 4* Hotel; 3 night 3* Hotel; 3 nights charming Guest House). A number of dining options exist in or within short walk of each property (some exceptions). All accommodations include private bathroom and a variety of other amenities.
