11 Maruyama River: With the stork from revitalization to symbiosis Maruyama River, as the last habitat for the nationally revered wild stork in Japan, receives continual support to further restoration. When expanding waterways for the sake of water improvement, digging the riverbed to be shallow and wide contributes greatly to the return of the stork to the wild. Protecting the wetlands together as one region to conserve the habitat of the stork Before After Our goal is to create an environment where not only the stork can thrive, but a wide array of wild animals as well.
