The BMI Staff Office will be in the Mission Room, UCEN, Upper Level. Sunday Registration Hours: 4:00 pm 7:00 pm in the UCEN Main Lobby Upper Level Monday Wednesday Registration is in the WACUBO Office, University Center (UCEN), Mission Room, Upper Level during office hours. WACUBO Office Hours: Sunday 4:00 pm 7:00 pm Monday Wednesday 7:45 am 5:00 pm (3:00 p.m. on Tuesday) Thursday 7:45 am 1:00 pm MEALS & DIETARY RESTRICTIONS There are WACUBO hosted dinners on Sunday August 5, Monday August 6, and Wednesday August 8. These buffet dinners on Sunday and Wednesday have some options for special dietary needs. However, if you are vegetarian, vegan, have gluten free or dairy free restrictions or other allergy restrictions, you should have advised us by July 13, as indicated in our July 5 to all registrants. Arrangements for alternative meals must be made two weeks in advance with University Catering. Please contact yvette@assnmgmt.net or pam@assnmgmt.net with your restrictions and we will notify UCSB Catering. Sunday and Monday evenings, the meat entrée is chicken. Wednesday evening the meat entrée is chicken or beef. Once again, for the catered events, meals may be prepared to accommodate special diets with advance notice of two weeks. Onsite, please be certain to self identify to one of the catering staff working the event and they will bring the alternative planned meal to you. For those staying in on campus housing, dining commons menus will be posted online one week in advance and you may use the Net Nutrition tool to identify common allergens and determine safe foods to eat. commons menus Sunday evening s dinner is at the University Center (UCEN) on Lagoon Plaza. Monday evening s beach barbecue is within walking distance of campus (25 minutes). There will also be mini vans making runs from Manzanita Village. ON CAMPUS HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION & PARKING If you are staying on campus, you should have received your logistical information from UCSB. Visit the campus housing website for additional details: Manzanita Village residences have the following features: Rooms furnished with one or two single beds, desks, desk chair, small chest of drawers and a closet Choice of single or double occupancy rooms Wireless internet service in rooms and common areas Rooms do not have telephones, televisions, hair dryers, radios or clocks (UCSB does not provide "wake up service. Laundry washer/dryer facilities Remember, no toiletries or amenities are provided at campus housing Page 1

2 As a reminder, rooms are cleaned and ready for arrival with beds made, however, beds are not made daily. Rooms will come with 2 towels, 1 washcloth per person on rack and a daily towel exchange, vacuum and emptying of trash. Please refer to your pre arrival UCSB housing confirmation for shuttle details (all the information can be found in the confirmation e mail you received for your housing registration). UCSB does provide airport and Goleta Airbus Station transport. You will receive directions to Manzanita Village and a 60 minute unloading permit in your pre arrival confirmation to use if you will have a car on campus. With this unloading permit, you will have time to park temporarily in the metered spaces along Ocean Road, unload, and check in before you receive your long term parking permit for Parking Structure 22. To receive this long term permit, you need to simply ask for a parking permit at the front desk during check in at Manzanita Village. This permit is also valid in Lot 3 on Sunday, August 5 for the opening reception. Questions about on campus housing should be directed to: conferences@housing.ucsb.edu Phone: OFF CAMPUS HOUSING, TRANSPORTATION & PARKING If you are staying off campus in a hotel or other accommodations, you should have booked your own reservation. Options are on the BMI website. There is no organized transportation from off campus hotels. BMI participants with cars may be willing to drive others to campus. Some of the hotels will assist as their vans are available. If you are staying off campus and drive to campus, you will need to buy a pay and display parking permit from the machine in the Parking Structure 22. You may park in Lot 3 on Sunday evening, August 5 th. Your Parking Structure 22 permit is also valid in Lot 3 for Sunday. On Monday Thursday, you may only park in Parking Structure 22. To park on campus, you must have a permit every day of the week all seven days, no exceptions. The summer permit rate is $8 on weekdays and $4/day on evenings and weekends. Be very cautious of where you park. Guests are responsible for following parking rules and for any penalties. Participants with cars may be willing to share a ride to campus and share parking costs with other riders. Otherwise check with your hotel for shuttle information. If you are coming from another UC campus: Please see detailed "UC Reciprocity" parking info SHUTTLE Best Western Plus South Coast Inn: There is a shuttle service serving Goleta Airport from 7:30 am 10:00 pm daily. The property is a short taxi ride from the Santa Barbara Airport. Pacifica Suites: There is a shuttle that runs Monday Friday 9:00 am 5:00 pm to and from the Santa Barbara Airport and the Goleta Train Station. 3 Goodland Hotel The hotel does not offer shuttle service to and from the Santa Barbara Airport or the Goleta Train Station. PURCHASING MEAL, GUEST, & BUS TRIP TICKETS Below is clarification on meal, bus ticket, and guest options (all of which should be purchased online at PRIOR to arrival for BMI). You may add Lunch Meal Tickets ($36), Guest Meal Tickets (see options below), or the Tuesday afternoon/evening Tour Bus Trip Ticket ($18) via the website portal prior to your arrival at BMI. This cannot be done onsite. If you are staying in on campus housing, you do NOT need to purchase the lunch tickets, because lunch is included in your campus housing package. There are a few fast food outlets open during the summer in the UCEN. To make the ticket purchase, you will need to pay with a credit card. This cannot be done with a check or invoice or purchase order. $36.00 Lunch Meal Ticket (For participants staying off campus that want to purchase a campus lunch for Mon Wed. This must be purchased in advance for all three days.) $18.00 Tour Bus Ticket (Special Tuesday 3:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m. bus trip to downtown Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Mission and the wharf area. The BMI schedule has a free afternoon/evening, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7 th ) Guest Meal Tickets (Participants traveling with guests are welcome to purchase tickets for a guest to attend an evening social event. Select the additional events that you would like to purchase 6. Once you have selected the fee(s), you can proceed to Save/Add to Cart 7. 4 BUS TOUR There is an optional bus tour available on Tuesday afternoon (August 7 th ) to downtown Santa Barbara, the wharf, and the Santa Barbara Mission. The bus circulates these stops from 3:30 pm until a final return to campus at 8:00 pm. If you did not purchase this bus ticket during registration and have since decided you would like one, see the Purchasing Tickets section to reserve your ticket. This must be done online and cannot be purchased onsite. Tickets are $ Santa Barbara Bus Tour Schedule Tuesday, August 7, :30 Depart from Manzanita Circle Bus Loop at Manzanita Village. 3:50 Drop off at Santa Barbara Mission This will be the only Santa Barbara Mission stop. The bus will pick up visitors from the Mission at 5:00 p.m. and take them to the next stop (downtown or wharf). 5:00 Pick up at Santa Barbara Mission 5:10 Arrive Downtown. Drop off those who want to visit Downtown 5:15 Arrive at Wharf. Drop off those who want to visit the Wharf 5:45 Pick up from the Wharf from same place where dropped off (the turnout to the right of the Wharf entrance) 5:50 Drop off (those who were just at the Wharf) Downtown; Pick up from Downtown from same place as bus drop off (the bus turnout on Chapala Street by California Pizza Kitchen/the entrance to Paseo Nuevo Mall) 5:55 Drop off (those who were just Downtown) at the Wharf 6:25 Pick up from the Wharf ETC. until 8:00 (every 30 minutes pick up from the Wharf or Downtown and drop off at Downtown or the Wharf) 8:00 Pickup everyone from Wharf and Downtown, and take everyone back to Campus at the Manzanita Circle Bus Loop SMOKE FREE CAMPUS Smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco or unregulated nicotine products (such as electronic cigarettes) is prohibited on and within UCSB managed property. UCSB managed property includes all UCSB facilities, owned or leased, both indoor and outdoor. The sale or distribution of tobacco and unregulated nicotine products on or within UCSB managed property is also prohibited. INTERNET ACCESS There is wireless connectivity at the University Center. Please understand that regardless of the carrier you use, Internet access on campus is only available through the UCSB system. You will first need to "login" with the UCSB access information (login and password) you may request (no charge) at registration. There are also several computer stations located in the University Center which can be used to access your . Stations are located in the Main Lobby, across from Nicoletti s. Wireless connectivity is also available to those meeting in the Loma Pelona Center. Page 4

5 SPEAKER HANDOUTS Speaker handouts are not provided onsite or sent electronically in advance. As we receive them, speaker presentation handouts will be posted at for you to access them. While not all speakers submit handouts, several will be there for you to access the week prior to BMI to print and bring with you or on download onto your computer, tablet, etc. We will continue to post materials as we receive them, so please check the site regularly. CANCELLATIONS Contact: Amy Barbieri NACUBO or Please Note: There is a $50.00 administrative fee for all cancellations Cancellations may be done through to Amy Barbieri (see contact info above) No refunds are allowed after July 2, 2018 Substitutes are taken at any time, without additional charges, but must be made through Amy Barbieri at NACUBO. Tracks can be changed with substitution on a space available basis. CPE CREDENTIALS BMI will have onsite badge scanning for recording CPEs earned during BMI. The credentialing organization is NASBA. We will not be able to retroactively submit prior years CPE s for past participants. More information on how to scan your personal QR code for CPE credits during BMI will be given to you in your on site registration packet. NOTE: Scanning of badges is NOT FOR A RECORD OF ATTENDANCE. Scanning is to record educational credits for individuals that need professional development hours toward earning and/or maintaining a credential or certification, such as CPA SPHR, etc. There is no need to scan your badge if you are not trying to earn educational credit hours toward a credential or certification. All BMI participants will receive certificate of attendance at the end of BMI and do NOT need to scan their badges to receive the certificate. DRESS CODE Dress code is casual for BMI. UCSB is on the coast, so mornings and evenings can be chilly. We recommend you include sweaters/jackets for your trip to Santa Barbara. T SHIRT EXCHANGE Please bring a T shirt from your institution for a T Shirt exchange among participants. You should bring your T shirt to the Wednesday evening Fiesta Event to participate in the exchange. Most in demand sizes are Medium, Large, X Large and XX Large. Page 5

6 DIRECTIONS TO UCSB CAMPUS On Campus Housing Participants You will receive your directions in your pre arrival housing confirmation leading you to Manzanita Village. All of the information you need (driving directions, check in location/hours, parking, etc.) can be found in the link that was included in the confirmation e mail you received during the time of your housing registration. Off Campus Lodging Participants UCSB is easily accessible from highway US 101. Parking for Sunday is different than parking Monday Thursday. See following directions: Sunday, from the South: Take US 101 northbound to the Airport/UCSB/Hwy 217 exit (approx. 8 miles north of downtown Santa Barbara). This expressway will take you directly into campus. As you enter campus, stay in the left lane; enter the roundabout, then exit the roundabout onto Lagoon Road. Turn right at the first stop sign onto UCEN Road, follow the road to the end, and turn right onto Lot 3 Parking before you come to the stop sign. Sunday, from the North: Take US 101 southbound to the Los Carneros exit. Turn right on Los Carneros. Proceed 1 mile to El Colegio Road. Turn left on El Colegio Road and proceed the traffic light onto Ocean Road. Proceed on Ocean Road, make a sharp left turn at the stop sign, get in the right lane, and bear right at the end of Ocean Road onto Mesa Road. Proceed into the traffic roundabout near the East Entrance of campus; exit the roundabout onto Lagoon Road. Turn right at the first stop sign onto UCEN Road, follow the road to the end, and turn right into Lot 3 Parking before you come to the stop sign. DIRECTIONS TO UCSB CAMPUS Monday Thursday, from the South: Take US 101 northbound to the Airport/UCSB/Hwy 217 exit (approx. 8 miles north of downtown Santa Barbara). This expressway will take you directly into campus. As you enter campus, stay in the right lane and proceed on Mesa Road. Turn left at the third traffic light onto Ocean Road. Proceed on Ocean Road through three traffic lights. About 100 yards past the third traffic light, turn left into Structure 22 Parking. Please proceed to the second level and do not park in Coastal Access Spaces. Monday Thursday, from the North: Take US 101 southbound to the Los Carneros exit. Turn right on Los Carneros. Proceed 1 mile to El Colegio Road. Turn left on El Colegio Road, proceed about one mile, and enter the UCSB campus. After entering campus, turn right at the traffic light onto Ocean Road. Proceed about 100 yards past the third traffic light and turn left into Structure 22 Parking. Please proceed to the second level and do not park in Coastal Access Spaces. DIRECTIONS ON UCSB CAMPUS FROM UCEN TO 22 PARKING LOT STRUCTURE UCEN ROAD toward ocean; turn LEFT at T section Follow LAGOON ROAD THROUGH the ROUNDABOUT (immediately after entering ROUNDABOUT, get into LEFT LANE and you will get off on MESA ROAD) Follow MESA ROAD to THIRD STOPLIGHT (you should be in the left lane) Turn LEFT at THIRD STOPLIGHT onto OCEAN ROAD Continue on OCEAN ROAD (get in left lane) making a RIGHT at the STOP SIGN (you will still be on OCEAN ROAD) Go STRAIGHT through SECOND STOPLIGHT passing Events Center on your left and the 22 PARKING LOT STRUCTURE will be on your LEFT. DO NOT PARK IN COASTAL ACCESS SPACES! Page 6

7 DIRECTIONS FROM 22 PARKING LOT STRUCTURE TO CAMPUS EXIT from 22 PARKING STRUCTURE. Begin walking TOWARD STORKE TOWER (tallest building you ll see on campus); Follow CONFERENCE DIRECTIONAL SIGN as well as BLUE SIGN on Light Pole to University Center Turn RIGHT toward UNIVERSITY CENTER and STORKE TOWER At UNIVERSITY CENTER, look for CONFERENCE DIRECTIONAL SIGN. DIRECTIONS FROM EAST UCSB ENTRANCE TO 22 PARKING LOT STRUCTURE Enter campus at EAST ENTRANCE (from Highway 217) and get in RIGHT LANE onto MESA ROAD Follow MESA ROAD to THIRD STOPLIGHT (you should be in the left lane) Turn LEFT at THIRD STOPLIGHT onto OCEAN ROAD Continue on OCEAN ROAD (get in left lane) making a RIGHT at the STOP SIGN (you will still be on OCEAN ROAD) Go STRAIGHT through SECOND STOPLIGHT passing Events Center on your left and the 22 PARKING LOT STRUCTURE will be on your LEFT. DIRECTIONS FROM 22 PARKING LOT STRUCTURE TO HATLEN THEATRE & LOMA PELONA Follow the signs walk towards Storke Plaza. Theatre & Dance, and Hatlen Theatre will be on your right.
