1 Homestay Accommodation If discovering the British culture and way of life is important to you, there s no better way than to stay with a local British family. Homestay can give you a welcoming and personal experience during your study stay. Living in homestay accommodation offers a unique intercultural experience and is one of the best ways to practise English outside the classroom. It also helps you to experience our culture and the British way of life, first-hand. You can choose from two types of homestay accommodation: Standard Superior (en-suite bathroom) All accommodation options above have the following as standard: Own room Daily breakfast and evening meal Bedding and towels (provided by the homestay provider) Communal living area Bath or shower Washing facilities Why should I stay with a homestay provider? 2 Hostel Accommodation YHA Cardiff Central YHA Cardiff Central is a modern youth hostel located in the heart of the city centre. This new centre is within walking distance of all the best attractions in Cardiff; the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Bay and the fantastic St. David s shopping centre. It is ideal for group short stays. YHA Cardiff Central Dining Room Common areas Bedroom Not only is the location great but the hostel also provides comfortable rooms with state of the art facilities. All rooms are en-suite. YHA Cardiff Central Hostel is a relaxed place to return to after your day at Celtic and a perfect place to study and unwind. You can also socialise and meet new people in the YHA common areas. 4 Residence Accommodation Liberty Park The Liberty Park Residence usually has a lively atmosphere and staying here means meeting lots of other students from all over the world. You have your own en-suite bedroom as well as access to a kitchen-lounge communal area where you can cook and spend time with the other students staying there. There is a 24 hour manned reception. Liberty Park Bedroom Kitchen & Lounge Kitchen & Lounge These contemporary apartments offer you the opportunity to live with your new international friends in a private room in a self-contained cluster flat whilst still enjoying the common room facilities available to all students. Our modern residence is a relaxed place to return to after your day at Celtic and a great place to study. Our residence accommodation is located in the heart of Cardiff city centre, by Cardiff Central Station and the Millennium Stadium. It is within walking distance of the Academy, through the shopping area or past Cardiff Castle and Bute Park. 5 Celtic English Academy Liberty Park General Information: Laundry: There is an on-site laundry facility in the residence accommodation. There is a small charge of 2.30 for washing and 1.20 for drying to use this facility. Note: Unfortunately, we cannot provide students with an iron or ironing board. Practical Information: Residence accommodation is from 14:00 on Sunday to 10:00 on Sunday. A refundable deposit of 100 is payable on arrival to school. This will be refunded upon check out. 6 Celtic English Academy Transportation/ Travelling time: By bus or train, or on foot. Within 5 to 45 minutes travelling time from Celtic by public transportation. Laundry: Students should be able to do one washing machine load of laundry per week. Please discuss with your homestay provider whether you should do it yourself in their machine or whether they will do it for you. Internet: Most homes do have internet access either through a broadband-wired connection or Wi-Fi, but this is not guaranteed. If you specifically require use of the internet, please state this on your application form. There may be usage restrictions on the amount of time or downloading you are permitted to do in the home. Please ask the homestay provider upon your arrival. Meal Plan: Half board: breakfast and evening meal included daily. Lunch is also provided at weekends. Full board: also includes a packed lunch each weekday at an additional cost of 15. Full board is compulsory for all students under 18. Supplement cost for any special dietary requirements is 15 (halal, gluten free, vegetarian..). Notes: Cooking facilities are not included. Access to these is at the host s discretion. Dinner is the main meal of the day and usually includes meat, fish or poultry.
