3 Bowmer & Kirkland has an extensive national portfolio of Leisure projects which we have successfully delivered for both public and private sector clients. These projects have ranged in value from 200,000 for small extensions to leisure centres to the 73million National Football Centre for the FA at Burton on Trent. We were selected by all these clients because of our ability to add value to the specific project requirements and our ethos of customer satisfaction.

4 The project involved the construction of the main centre buildings and associated ancillary buildings at the new Center Parcs holiday village in Woburn, Bedfordshire. Center Parcs, Woburn

The development is split across two principle sites and a number of ancillary locations across the village. The Village Square comprises the Subtropical Swimming Paradise and the Leisure Bowl.

The pools are serviced by changing village alongside with retail outlets and restaurants fronting onto the village street.

The two buildings are positioned alongside the village street which features an extensive recycling water feature, landscaping, paving, cycle parking facilities and children s play area.

The Plaza includes a 75 bedroom hotel, spa, conference centre, sports hall, squash courts, climbing wall, sports bar, 6 lane bowling alley, supermarket and ancillary areas such as staff accommodation

5 The development is split across two principle sites and a number of ancillary locations across the village. The Village Square comprises the Subtropical Swimming Paradise and the Leisure Bowl. The Subtropical Swimming Paradise houses a number of feature pools including a wave pool, toddler pool, lazy river ride, family play features and jungle river rapids. The pools are serviced by changing village alongside with retail outlets and restaurants fronting onto the village street. The Leisure Bowl features a 10 lane bowling alley, bar and discotheque, gaming areas, restaurants, food and beverage outlets, retail outlets, guest services area and staff facilities. The two buildings are positioned alongside the village street which features an extensive recycling water feature, landscaping, paving, cycle parking facilities and children s play area. The Plaza is located a few hundred metres away from the Village Square along the natural valley that crosses the site. The Plaza includes a 75 bedroom hotel, spa, conference centre, sports hall, squash courts, climbing wall, sports bar, 6 lane bowling alley, supermarket and ancillary areas such as staff accommodation and extensive catering kitchens. Externally the area around the Plaza I is extensively landscaped with water feature, paving, cycle parking areas and tennis courts. Adjacent to the main lake, we have constructed the new Pancake House restaurant. This restaurant is suspended on stilts to elevate it above the general ground levels. Next door to the Pancake House, a new Watersports centre has also been provided. In addition to the main centre buildings the contract included the construction of a number of ancillary buildings across the village. These include; the Arrivals Lodge, Cycle Centre, Outdoor Activities Centre, Technical Services Building, Housekeeping Building, IT Blocks and Grounds Maintenance Stores.

7 Multi Sports Arena, Derby The construction of a new multi-sports arena to accommodate a dry sports venue, comprising 12 badminton courts and a 250m indoor velodrome track, both of which are capable of holding national and regional competitions up to elite level. The venue will also have a health and fitness club which will be open to the public. The arena space accommodates 1600 spectators with the ability to provide extra space for up to 5000 spectators for other events. The project also includes reconfiguring and extending the existing live park and ride facility and maintaining a minimum number of parking spaces for Derby County Football Club during the football season.

The show attraction has been designed to accommodate up to 5,000 visitors per day with the majority of the development being accessible to the public.

8 Warner Bros Studios Leavesden was constructed in two distinct work sections, both of which ran concurrently. Section 1 of the works was the Construction of two purpose built sound stages to house the Harry Potter Experience. The show attraction has been designed to accommodate up to 5,000 visitors per day with the majority of the development being accessible to the public. The buildings house a number of the actual sets used for the filming of the Harry Potter trilogy and are dressed and set as they would have been for the actual filming. The buildings are unique in their acoustic requirements and one of the many challenges of the project is to ensure both acoustic attenuation and reverberation requirements are met. The facility incorporates a fully serviced Café serving hot and cold food together with serviced outlets for other food providers. Other public spaces include a Retail space, Theatre and toilet facilities Service provision within the facility was a particular challenge with the provision of extensive specialist lighting, audio visual installations, data provision, together with mechanical air handling and cooling plant to service a facility which will be densely populated.

13 Hurlingham Club, Fulham The replacement of the outdoor pool complex at the Hurlingham Club included the demolition of the existing pools, changing facilities and café, and replacement with a new main pool, children s pool, café, remote water treatment store and a pavilion. The relationship between the building and the pool was critical to the experience of the facility and retaining the charm of the old building. The timber frame structure to the new buildings are partially clad in timber boarding painted in the Hurlingham Blue to all elevations viewed from the pool area to recreate the look of the old building, whilst the elevations viewed from the tennis courts are constructed from masonry and then covered with climbing plants to blend into their surroundings.

Situated on a 330 acre site in the heart of the National Forest, St George s Park is accessible for the entire game, within easy reach of all major transport connections.

Also housed on the site there is a flexible indoor Sports building with a multi-use sports-hall that provides facilities for Futsal, partially sighted football, 12 badminton courts and incorporates spectator seating and features a mezzanine steel walkway where staff can overlook sport in progress. The sports building has a striking witches hat atrium design and incorporates state of the art office accommodation which is now the operational base for FA specialist staff. Further to the offices, there are elite changing facilities and treatment rooms, as well as other changing facilities for general users. An altitude centre has also been created where athletes can be tested for oxygen capacity and other respiratory scenarios. To the ground floor, there is a Hydrotherapy suite housing 3 pools and additional changing shower and toilet facilities. The vario-pool has a movable floor that can be altered to suit differing requirements; there are also hot and cold plunge pools to aid the recovery of injuries. From the Sports Building, entry can be gained to the full size indoor football pitch, with newly laid artificial turf, which is housed under a huge portal steel frame, clothed in a barrel vaulted fabric roof. Adjacent to the indoor pitch there is a 60m running track where athletes running techniques can be studied. Access to the outdoor elite pitch can be gained from the mezzanine steel balcony; this pitch is a precise replica of Wembley and includes all under-soil heating and irrigation systems. There is an area of spectator seating overlooking the indoor pitch as well as a balcony from the fully fitted out finger gymnasium which directly overlooks the elite pitch. St George s Park will become the home of The FA s educational division, which takes over 40,000 individuals each year through a wide variety of bespoke training courses. The integrated site also features a 142 bed 5 Star Hilton Hotel and an 86 bed 3 Star Hampton by Hilton; As well as the hotels bedroom wings, which are exquisitely finished there are separate dining wing with function rooms, bars, restaurants and kitchen facilities. Furthermore, there is a leisure wing housing a 20m swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, spa treatment rooms and changing facilities. To the ground floor of the Hampton wing there are training and conference suites for the FA s learning team as well as a 90 seat lecture theatre and a modern digitally equipped library. A bespoke BREEAM Assessment (2008) has been developed for the buildings. The target of achieving a rating of Very Good was met following the post construction assessment.
