1 Historic Cities of the Sea A Voyage from Lisbon to Rome Aboard the 100-Guest, All-Suite Corinthian October 2 15, 2015 With Unique Features Free night in Lisbon special Program on Mediterranean cuisine chamber Music Performances

2 Dear National Trust Traveler, It was on the storied shores of the Mediterranean that Western tradition was born. Join us this fall, after the summer crowds have thinned, on a singularly unique cruise anchored between two historic cities of the sea, Lisbon and Rome. Each day you will revel in new vistas, historic and natural, and each day you will partake in a feature of our special programs one that celebrates classical chamber music, and the other that explores the richly textured Mediterranean approach to food and dining. Monuments and ruins that span an extraordinarily broad sweep of time will serve as a spectacular backdrop to our journey. Visit Neolithic nuraghi on Sardinia; the UNESCO World Heritage palm forest in Elche; incomparable Pompeii; the very pinnacle of Islamic architecture at the Alhambra in Granada; and charming Sicilian towns. Explore these essential sites in the company of distinguished archaeologist Dr. Nancy Wilkie, who will provide insight into the founding of Western Civilization through lectures and informal discussion. This leisurely cruise will also immerse you in the music and food that makes the Mediterranean one of the most desirable travel destinations in the world. Enjoy private classical concerts performed by accomplished local musicians at historic settings in Granada, Tarragona, and a 14 th -century church in Erice. Unique excursions to food markets, cooking demonstrations, and specially curated meals all highlight the features of a quintessential Mediterranean palate. Yale professor Tassos Kyriakides and a guest chef will accompany you to illuminate the research that scientifically supports the nutritional benefits of this regional diet. Your home for this multi-layered journey will be the 100-guest, all-suite Corinthian, a gracious ship which is at once large enough to offer all the amenities of a large cruise ship, such as spacious suites, two comfortable lounges, a restaurant that accommodates all guests in one unassigned seating, and inviting sun decks, but small enough to navigate inlets and harbors that mega-cruise ships cannot. Corinthian provides a perfectly intimate setting for an onboard concert or a tasting with fellow, like-minded travelers. Join us this October for this unique and comprehensive Mediterranean immersion! Sincerely, Scott Gerloff Director, National Trust Tours p.s. We are pleased to offer one complimentary night in Lisbon at the Altis Avenida Hotel, prior to embarkation, if you book your Corinthian suite before June 19 th. The Generalife Gardens in Granada comprise a masterwork of horticultural art Cover: Italy s spectacular Amalfi Coast

3 Travel & Enrich Your Experience with a Team of Experts Our voyage is accompanied by experienced onboard experts and local guides. Through onboard presentations and informal discussions, they will introduce you to these unforgettable lands. Dr. Nancy Wilkie, lecturer for the Archaeological Institute of America, is a distinguished archaeologist who has lectured on numerous educational tours and cruises throughout the Mediterranean and around the world. She is the William H. Laird Professor of Classics, Anthropology, and the Liberal Arts, Emerita; and cocoordinator of the Archaeology Concentration at Carleton College. Nancy has worked on archaeological projects in Greece, Egypt, and Nepal, and authored more than 30 articles and co-edited three books on archaeology. She is also an Honorary President of the Archaeological Institute of America; President of the U.S. Committee of the Blue Shield, an organization committed to the protection of cultural property worldwide during armed conflict; and a member of the Managing Committee of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. In 2003, the President of the United States appointed Nancy to the Cultural Property Advisory Committee of the U.S. State Department, on which she currently serves. The Committee reviews requests from foreign governments for the protection of their cultural property and recommends a course of action to the U.S. State Department. SPECIAL PROGRAMMING TO ENHANCE YOUR JOURNEY A Different Take on Mediterranean Cuisine Immerse yourself in the famed cuisine of this region, which emphasizes fruits, legumes, vegetables, nuts, olive oil, and fish. Looking beyond food as sustenance, we will explore its social and cultural dimensions and study how human interaction is organized around the cultivation, preparation, and consumption of food. With the guidance of Professor Tassos Kyriakides and our guest chef, we will study the main ingredients of the Mediterranean palate and learn about its role in promoting our physical health; we ll also enjoy cooking demonstrations and sample selected recipes. Ultimately, this experience will foster a deep appreciation for how food influences our emotional and spiritual health. Valencia s famous Colon Market Tassos C. Kyriakides is Associate Research Scientist, Yale Center for Analytical Sciences (Yale School of Public Health) and Yale School of Medicine (Internal Medicine). He is also a faculty affiliate of the Yale Hellenic Studies Program and a fellow of Saybrook College. In addition to his professional research, Tassos is deeply interested in the social determinants of health and the socio-cultural dimension of the benefits of Greek/Mediterranean nutrition. In 2006, he organized Kopiaste, an extremely wellreceived series of presentations on this topic at Yale. 6 Corinthian Sets the Standard for Private-Style Cruising In an era of mega cruise ships that carry thousands of passengers, Corinthian is a delightful alternative. More like a private yacht than a cruise ship, Corinthian accommodates only 100 guests in 50 suites. Corinthian s limited guest capacity, fine facilities, and distinctive style of operation attract like-minded travelers who return again and again to enjoy its custom-crafted itineraries and a style of cruising that is rarely found today. All of Corinthian s suites face outside, providing views of the sea and landscape. Several have a private balcony. There are expansive open deck areas and attractive facilities, including a gym, spa, library (with Internet access), beauty salon, two lounges, a sun deck with Jacuzzi, and an outdoor cafe. An elegant restaurant accommodates all guests in an open, unassigned seating. An elevator serves all decks. A resident physician attends a well-equipped infirmary. Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship. Veranda Suite Nautilus Club Served by 65 seasoned officers and crew, Corinthian complies with the latest international safety regulations, including those of the U.S. Coast Guard, meets the requirements of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and is outfitted with the most current navigational and communications technology. Corinthian is equipped with retractable fin stabilizers and a fleet of Zodiac inflatable craft for forays ashore. Sun Deck
