1 WesterShip News No. 39, September 2011 MV WESTERDEICH & MV WESTERHEVER SOLD MV WESTERMOOR & MV WESTERHAMM In the Gatun Schleuse on May 16 th, 2011 MV WESTERDEICH As rumours have spread out already, most of our readers are aware by now that our vessels MV WESTERDEICH and MV WESTERHEVER are sold to new owners, Messrs. MAESTRA. Maestra Naevegação e Logistica SA is a new Brazilian carrier, established to operate Brazilian domestic services. We are happy that we are able to further employ our staff within our company or the HTI group. On this occasion, we would like to thank our crew from both vessels WESTERDEICH and WESTERHEVER for their strong support during the takeover. QUALSHIP 21 - Congratulations All four vessels of Hans Peterson & Soehne GmbH & Co. KG, which are trading in US waters, have been designated as QUALSHIP 21 participants by US Coast Guard. Less than ten percent of all foreign-flagged ships that operate in the US have earned this designation. This is a remarkable accomplishment and US Coast Guard applauds the efforts to the company as well as the ships' master and crew for setting such a high standard of excellence. Captain Vladimir Garbuziuk, Thorsten Manthe and Viktor Rylskov On Tuesday, June 7 th, 2011 our Managing Director Mr. Dirk Jebsen and I travelled to Klaipeda, Lithuania for the celebration of the 10 th anniversary of the successful co-operation between Hans Peterson & Söhne GmbH & Co. KG and Gretimybe Ltd., Klaipeda. Mr. Jebsen and Captain Garbuziuk Captain Garbuziuk, who is part of our staff since May 2002 and since 2006 as Master, Chief Mate Jeliov, 2 nd Eng. Kulguskin, Electrician Ciudov, who worked also since 2002 for our company and Electrician Sinkarkin were also participating in the celebration. Chief Mate Mr. Viktor Jeliov and 2 nd Engineer Mr. Sergej Kulguskin Electrician Sinkarkin was one of our first crewmembers we accepted for employment from Gretimybe and he now also celebrates his 10 th year of employment within our company: Congratulations! Today, the company has more than 60 crew members from Gretimybe, which includes our crew from Russia and Ukraine. Several officers have been promoted to the next higher rank due to their excellent performance. We would like to say thank you for the good co-operation during the past and we are looking forward to continuing our good long term co-operation in future. Mr. Riberio Marafona joined the company in July 1981 as deckhand on b oard of the first MV Westerhamm. Since 1998 he is employed as a Bosun. TEN YEARS SEA SERVICE Chief Mate Darius Zala On completing 10 years of sea service with the company. Mr. Zala joined the company June 2001 as 2 nd Mate. Mr. Manlili joined the company August 2001 as oiler. Since August 2004, Mr. Manalili is employed as Engine Watch Officer and in May 2011 he was promoted to II. Engineer on board of MV Westertal. III. Eng. Saturnio L. Palma the company. Mr. Palma joined the company August 2001 as Engine Watch Officer. Since that time he completed several contracts as Engine Officer. Electrician Boris Sinkarkin the company. Mr. Sinkarkin joined the company in June 2001 as Electrician. Mix: ½ cup cream Spry (Crisco) or another vegetable shortening ½ cup white sugar 1/4 cup dark brown sugar add 1 egg add ½ teasp. baking soda add ½ teasp. salt add 1 cup flour add ½ teasp. vanilla add 16 oz. bag of chocolate chips Bake at 350 C for 8-10 minutes, remove to cookling rack promptly.
