2 New, exciting, awesome camp sessions await your child this summer at MMI Preparatory School in Freeland! 2018 Summer Camps Summer is on its way, so start planning today to make your child s break enjoyable and educational at the same time. Join MMI s outstanding faculty, Sciensational Camps and Box of Light for a unique summer experience. All camps are $150 for the week. Campers staying all day should bring a bag lunch and will be supervised over the lunch break. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Asian Cooking & Craft Camp Week of June 25 Time: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 9-15 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Mrs. Christina Spencer Price: $150 Campers explore the flavors of Asia along with various art forms in this hands-on camp designed for students age Make a dish for sharing using traditional cooking techniques and ingredients. Learn some Mandarin while participating in culturally rich activities such as drawing, brush painting, calligraphy, lantern making, and kite making.

Instructor: Miss Amanda Shonk Price: $150 Get ready to explore the messy side of science in this fun-filled Ooey Gooey Science Camp! Make your own slime and oobleck. Roll up your sleeves, have fun, and learn some cool science experiments. Cardboard Creations Time: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 6-14 Class Size: 10 Min./12 Max. Instructor: Mr. Justin Vincent Price: $150 Find your creativity when you explore ways to use recycled cardboard (and a few other common household items) for building things like cars, carnival games, masks and hats, and more! Don t throw that box out; turn it into a cool new creation in the Cardboard Creations camp at MMI! Sports Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 6-13 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Mr. Roger Legg Price: $150 Love to run, jump, and explore new sports? This camp allows every camper to get a little taste of sport fundamentals in areas like football, soccer, basketball, baseball and more! Lego Robotics Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 6-14 Class Size: 10 Min./12 Max. Instructor: Mr. Justin Vincent Price: $150 Design it, build it, and control it! Take your love of Legos and robots and combine them to build a cool Lego Mindstorm EV3 Robot. Then you can program it to push objects around, navigate a maze, and more! While you can t keep the Mindstorm, you will get a cool robotic souvenir. Spanish Cooking & Craft Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 9-15 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Señora Syra Dewar Price: $150 Go on a tasty journey of typical Spanish dishes and learn to make colorful Spanish crafts while being immersed in the Spanish language. 4 Week of July 9 Messy Art Camp Time: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 6-11 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Mrs. Lisa Marie Ferry Price: $150 Get ready to get messy! Messy art camp is for boys and girls who want to celebrate getting messy while creating one-of-a-kind artwork and having a blast. Campers use a variety of art mediums such as watercolors, acrylic paints, pastels, shaving cream, water balloons, and lots more! Messy Art Camp promises to be goppy, gloppy, and awesomely messy. Campers need to be dressed in clothes and shoes that they don t mind getting dirty. Magnetic Levitation for Future Transportation Camp Time: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 7-12 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Sciensational Workshops Price: $150 Build your own futuristic Maglev car to race and take home. In 1999, a Japanese five-car maglev train set a record of 345 miles/hour. Yours won t go that fast, but we will have fun building it and learning how it operates. Learn about the relationship between magnetism and electricity. You will also get to build a simple maglev track as well as a cool electromagnet. Learn how motors work, as well as generators. Build and take home the world s simplest motor. Make your own compass and take part in many other magnificent magnetic activities! Hovercraft-Design your own Vehicle-Egg Drop Car Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 7-12 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Sciensational Workshops Price: $150 Do you want to design and build things that you create - not just a model you purchase? Well this is the place for you. Build and keep an air powered Hover Craft. You make it defy gravity. Once it s up and moving, use your creativity to control its direction. Build a super car powered by more than one source of energy. This can be one crazy looking vehicle. Get to build an Egg Drop Car. Build a gravity vehicle that can cushion a raw egg as the car is dropped from a high height.

Campers will produce and perform amusing plays based on classic storybook tales such as Snow White, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, and the Three Little Pigs. The children will participate in creating dialogue, props, scenery and costumes. Our camp pledge is fun, fun, fun for all Storybook campers! Families are invited on the last day of camp to be audience members for our Big Time Production! Week of July 16 Cake Decorating Camp Time: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 9-15 Class Size: 10 Min./12 Max. Instructor: Mrs. Laurie Mele Price: $150 Attention all would be artists who have an interest in learning how to decorate cakes and cupcakes like a pro, this cake decorating camp will give you beginner skills in piping, icing, leveling, and making fondant sculptures. All campers get their very own cake decorating kit to keep and take home a decorated dessert at the end of the week. Join us for this sweet week! Lego Maniacs/Claymation Camp Time: 9 am - 12 pm Ages: 7-14 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Box of Light Price: $150 Make an inanimate world come to life as you use Legos, clay and other found objects to create stop motion, animated films. Learn stop motion filmmaking including adding sounds, credits, and putting the finishing polish on your film until it shines. This camp is great for those who love Legos, art, and want to create films!

This camp allows every camper to get a little taste of sport fundamentals in areas like football, soccer, basketball, baseball and more! Dance Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 6-14 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Samantha Schugardt Price: $150 Love the Rockettes or, So You Think You Can Dance or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders? Then learn to dance like them! Learn choreography to show stopping Broadway musical numbers, sideline routines, and dances for basketball and football games, and more! Dancers will participate in a daily workout and stretch, technique drills, and choreography. From jazz to pom and hip-hop to contemporary, we will explore all styles of dance and performance throughout the week! Zombie Film Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 9-14 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructors: Box of Light Price: $150 The bad news: you might not survive this camp. The good news: even if you don t, you will still be able to act in the class movie. This filmmaking camp will create an original zombie movie complete with gross looking make-up, decaying flesh, and plenty of infestation. Along the stumbling, lurching way, you will learn filmmaking. Learn how to frame shots, manage the production environment, edit your film, and lay in your sound. No doubt about it. This will be an instant classic. Join in the escapades of Harry and his friends. Play quidditch. Make an edible wand. We will brew some fantastic potions to drink. Let s create and watch some amazing chemical reactions. Watch a mirage appear. You won t believe it! Wonder where the sorting hat will place you? Make cool crystals. Come join us where the magic of science, art, and literature meet. Do you want to be the greatest showman? Join us as we produce our own musical revue performed at the conclusion of the camp. Chemical Magic-Magical Microscope-Rocks and Minerals Camp Time: 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Ages: 6-12 Class Size: 10 minimum Instructor: Sciensational Workshops Price: $150 Learn to make batteries from fruits or potatoes. Make a fantastic crystal tree. Work with invisible ink. See the happy and sad balls. Work with our powerful magnets. Look at our prepared slides using our microscopes. Learn about the different types of rocks and minerals from our interesting rock and mineral collection. Be a chemical detective. Make glob from glue. Use paper chromatography to separate colors.
