2 SCHOOL IS OUT, AND FUN IS IN! Beat the heat this summer and turn your budding scientist into a happy camper! Join us at the Fleet Science Center for a summer chock-full of exciting experiments, intriguing investigations and science-themed fun! Fleet Summer Camps offer delightful discoveries for all ages, from Pre-K through 8th grade. Popular camps include: Simple Machines: Pre-K scientists can find out how gizmos like wedges, wheels and levers help us in our daily lives. Superhero Science: Put on a cape and discover how friction, magnetism and gravity play a role in superhuman feats. Mindstorm Robotics: Use LEGO MINDSTORMS to construct and program competition-style robots that can perform complex tasks. FLEET SUMMER CAMPS WILL FILL UP QUICKLY, SO REGISTER ASAP. Want to switch it up? The Fleet participates with the Balboa Park Collaborative to bring your kids a summer camp experience like no other. Many Balboa Park institutions including the Fleet, the Air & Space Museum, the Japanese Friendship Garden, the Art Museum and others coordinate their half-day summer camps so kids can spend the whole day at the park. Staff members escort children from one camp to another during a supervised lunch hour. So drop Junior off at one location and pick him up at another, and listen to the awesome tales of summer learning fun! Don t miss the free Summer Camp Showcase on March 10! 6 THOUGHTSTEM COMPUTER SCIENCE CAMPS ThoughtSTEM teaches kids the intricacies of computer coding and programming. Working collaboratively and in teams, campers will create fun, interactive programming environments including Minecraft Modding! Spring Camps will be held March 26 30, Each camp offers a full day of exciting science from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and your little camper can attend for the entire week or individual days. Campers in grades 1 3 will enjoy various STEAM-related activities throughout the week while older campers (grades 4 8) can try out the Computer Science & Technology Camps provided by ThoughtSTEM.
