Scavenger Hunt gives campers a chance to race around the fields finding items on their lists, answer riddles, and find out fun facts about their counselors! Super Hero Day with the 6-8 age group. Campers and Counselors come to camp wearing a super hero costume, even made up super heroes! They get to show us their super powers, too! Environmental Camp Days Our goal is to teach children the importance of keeping our environment healthy and clean. Campers and counselors will take part in projects relative to topics such as trash, recycling, clean water, not feeding water fowl tree and others. A hands-on science project relating to water pollution will be included to our list of activities. Our goal is to give campers a sense of ownership of the environment at this park and the planet through education and hands-on activities. Tye Dye Day gives campers a chance to bring in a white shirt or pillowcase and leave camp with a colorful creation! Funny Field Day is always a blast! The entire camp is split into four color teams. Campers can show their team spirit by wearing paint of their team color! This day gets crazy! They will find themselves getting wet by sliding down a slip n slide, potato sack races, obstacle courses, tug o war, and more! Please pay special attention to your child s attire on this day. They will be getting wet and muddy during these events. Karaoke gives campers a chance to get up on the stage and sing their favorite songs! Talent Show is on the last day of camp! Parents are more than welcome and are encouraged to come watch! This is our biggest day! Campers and counselors really bring out their crazy talents on this day! 5

6 Camp Policies: SLATER PARK SUMMER CAMP BEHAVIOR: The director/supervisors reserve the right to have a child sit down for a period of time if the camper s behavior interferes with operation of the group, activities, or camp. If this occurs, you may be presented with a discipline form to sign for a warning. Next occurrence results in a suspension and finally expulsion. However, depending on the situation and discussion between the supervisors and the director, a suspension or expulsion may be issued without initial warning. No refunds will be issued as a result. THE PARENT OR GUARDIAN MUST SIGN DISCIPLINE FORMS BEFORE YOUR CHILD CAN RETURN BACK TO CAMP. FAILURE TO SIGN THE FORM WILL RESULT IN EXPULSION FROM CAMP. INCLEMENT WEATHER: o INCLEMENT WEATHER PRIOR TO START OF CAMP: ** PLEASE NOTE: It is our intent to provide all campers with the full camp experience. Therefore, we monitor weather forecasts before making a last minute determination. The addition of the Slater Park Pavilion helps to facilitate the full camp experience. **Notices will issued on the Facebook page no earlier than 7:45 and no later than 8:15 am, in the event of cancellations only! A child s inability to attend on a rain day does not count as a an absent day and does not have an impact on the policy as outlined on page 7 under Absenteeism Policy o Check your for notices of camp cancellations on a rainy day or heat waves. Call Slater Park Office x251 INCLEMENT WEATHER DURING THE DAY: It is the intent of the Slater Park Summer Camp staff to utilize the Slater Park Pavilion and provide programming for the child until the 2 pm pick-up time. If conditions suggest early dismissal, the camp will announce this through the Facebook page as well as contacting the phone number provided. Please ensure the contact numbers (2) provided are accurate. FACEBOOK PAGE: Slater Park Camp Arrivals and Dismissals: check in and out with your counselor!! Check-in is between 8:45am-9:20am. Campers will not be able to be dropped off after this time, due to counts, lunches, and bus trips. Late arrivals are ONLY accepted if a notice is given the day before. No other exceptions. Dismissal time is between 1:45pm-2:00pm. If a camper is picked up after 2:15pm more than three times, this will result in expulsion of the camp. We are not responsible for the supervision of a camper after 2:00pm. Early Dismissals: Please make counselors aware of your child s early dismissal Please be sure to see your child s counselor at check-in and checkout for our staff to be better aware of your child s where about for safety reasons. If someone other than yourself is dismissing your child, please let the counselor know. 6

7 All arrivals and dismissals take place at the picnic grove area by route of the playground, basketball court and animal shelter facilities (this is a ONE-WAY). To eliminate traffic and for the safety of our campers, please do not park across from the pond as you will be asked to move from that area. ABSENTEEISM POLICY: PLEASE READ VERY IMPORTANT We ask that your child does not miss 4 days of camp in a session. If you are vacationing or have other activities planned during one of the sessions, please sign your child up for the alternate session. Out of courtesy, we ask that you please do not sign up your child for two sessions if you are aware such plans will be taking place. You will be contacted by a staff member if there should be 3 days missed from a particular session. On the fourth (4 th ) absence, your child s spot will be filled from someone on the waiting list. Please keep in mind, there are no refunds. CONTACT NUMBERS: You are required to provide us with a working phone number along with an additional emergency contact number. In the case of an emergency, it is crucial that we are able to get a hold of you or someone who can pick up your child during the day. In the event we are unable to reach the contact phone numbers left on file, your child will be unable to return to camp. Questions/Concerns: If there is an issue that you would like to discuss, please speak with the age group supervisor and/or the director in person. Facebook is convenient, however, it is not the best way to communicate; the page is for the use of keeping everyone informed of events and rain day cancellations. Communication of issues is best resolved in person! We are not responsible for the following: **Administering medications** **Transportation to/from home** **Guaranteed space on field trips** **Intentional wandering from camp area** **Continuation of admitting participants who do not abide by the rules and conduct proper behavior** **Injury costs or claims** **Items lost or stolen** **Supervision of child after 2:00pm** For More Information: Slater Park Office Armistice Boulevard - Pawtucket, RI x
