THE 10 PRINCIPLES Radical Inclusion Gifting Decommodification Radical Self Reliance Radical Self Expression Communal Effort Civic Responsibility Leave No Trace Participation Immediacy Include everyone. Respect the stranger. We don t have any prerequisites. Give unconditional gifts. Do not expect anything in return. No bartering! No sponsorships, advertising, or exploitation. Please don t pass out flyers! This is not the place to flaunt your YSL bag with all the letters. Bring everything you need to survive: physically and emotionally. Be yourself, find yourself. Join us, either temporarily or longer. We are all in this together! Take care of yourself and others. Perpetuate a safe community. Leave it like you found it, if not better. Your trash is your responsibility! There are NO TRASH CANS! Participate, don t spectate! This is you right here, right now. Pay attention. +1 Consent Did you ask permission? Were you told no? Don t do it then! NO=NO.
This event is NOT FOR SPECTATORS. The best way to participate in this event is to help make it happen. Bring your art, your theme camp, your enthusiasm and your appreciation. Come ready to play, and bring your A game. Another good way is to volunteer with one (or more!) of the event teams. There are lots of jobs to do, and we can help you find one that suits you to a T. Register at houstonburners.org/unbroken-spring-planning/ or at Headquarters on-site. Gate The Gate handles all camp, art, fire, electric vehicle, and generator check ins that have been registered before the event. Gate also checks tickets and provides wristbands and waivers. Greeters Greeters welcome participants with a wealth of affection and information in the realm of theme camps, activities, land orientation, volunteer sign up, and other knowledge to get you started. Step out of your car and give them a hug! They are ready to welcome you home. These orange vested heroes will work closely with the rest of the site team to make Parking/ Transportation sure your parking experience is like none else. They help you get around the property, to and from the lot, and off the land. They are also vital in case of emergencies! Earth Fairies Wuut! There are magical fairies?? These guardians assist your Leave No Trace efforts to protect the land and reorient Matter Out Of Place (MOOP). Don t have the MOOP Fairies hunt you down! SAFETY TEAM Rangers Rangers are mobile sources of event information, conflict resolution, and participant assistance. They are NOT police or law enforcement. Rangers are the event s helping hands. Be nice to them! Sanctuary Is everything getting to be a little too much? Are you disoriented or in other distress? Fatigued? Sanctuary consists of listener trained volunteers able to navigate challenging emotional psychic states so you get the most out of your experience. Medical Medics are trained volunteers with medical and emergency experience. If you are in need of assistance, flag down a Ranger, who can radio for medic help or go visit them at HQ. Medical is for First Aid ONLY. Fire An important part of burning things is to make sure they don t burn you or other things unintentionally. The fire team monitors camp fires, the effigy burn, and the other fire effects and performances. Guardians Stationed at key points along the edge of the property, Guardians keep you and the event safe from the big bad world outside of the gate! We N!d You!
MOAR EDUMACATION! PARKING Car and RV parking in designated areas only (RVs must be registered in advance). Listen to instructions from Greeters and Parking. Once you arrive, you have 2 hours to either decorate and disguise your car or move it to parking. Leaving and returning to the venue will result in a $10 charge. In case of inclement/muddy weather, we might not allow your car in the camping areas at all. VENDING Bags of ice will be sold on Friday (2:00PM - 4:00PM) & Saturday (12:00PM - 4:00PM) for $3 a bag (exact change appreciated). There is no other vending allowed on site. No, not even your cool bracelets you made. This is a GIFT economy! PHOTO/VIDEO YOU MUST HAVE CONSENT FROM EVERYONE IN A PHOTO BEFORE TAKING ONE. Photography without consent is an ejectable offense. Media recording of any kind could hinder participants right to radical self expression. Please do not post ANYTHING online or on social media without everyone s consent. See a theme here? (Hint: it s consent!). LEAVE NO TRACE If you bring it in to the event, you take it out with you when you leave. Anything that did not naturally exist in the environment must be removed at the end of the event. There is no on site grey water or trash cans. ELECTRICITY AND WATER There is no on site electricity or water! If you want power, bring a generator (baffl e it so your neighbors will continue to love you), which must be registered in advance. There are showers and ponds on-site, but there is no potable water. You must bring at least 2 gallons of water/day. PORTABLE TOILETS There will be lots of portable toilets on-site. Please don t put baby wipes, tampon applicators, or other trash in the toilet! This clogs it and will make many people unhappy. If it didn t come out of your body, don t put it in the potty. If you mess up the crapper, clean up your crap!! Adopting a toilet is a fun way to participate. CHILDREN AND PETS No one under the age of 21 will be allowed in. No pets allowed. SAFETY Rangers are your friends. If you need help or think something is unsafe, talk to a Ranger! If you see something you think is against the 10 (+1) principles, let a Ranger know! THERE IS A POP QUIZ OVER THIS STUFF AT GREETERS!! YES, SERIOUSLY!

THEME CAMPS AND RESPECTING YOUR NEIGHBORS Theme camps are a great way to showcase art and bring like minded individuals together. Registration for theme camps are closed, but there are still areas to camp as groups around the playa. Let us know what you want to plan to do so you can share it with all your new friends. We defi nitely want people to experience your camp. Be sure to tell Greeters when you arrive! We would like to be sure that your art gets a respectable home that makes the event safe and enjoyable for everyone. If you don t plan on containing it in your camp footprint, let your Greeters or Rangers know, so they can help you with last minute placement. Don t assume a space is empty! RESPECT YOUR NEIGHBORS If anyone becomes disruptive or threatening in any way, the organizers reserve the right to evict them from the premises. Grounds for evictions are VERY SERIOUS MATTERS and include: Bringing fi reworks Having a gun Assault or threatening behavior Trespassing (into the event or neighboring properties) Unlicensed animals Theft Destruction of property or art Taking photos without permission Failing to ask consent
The woods can be a dangerous place. Texas is full of furry woodland creatures that may or may not be friendly. These woods are home to a lot more than your urban landscape! Leave them alone and they ll leave you alone. Fire Ants - Fire arts can be nasty and leave stupid welts! Treat carefully. When in doubt - go see a medic! Use cinnamon to deter them from your camp s food! Poison Ivy - Leaves of 3, let it be! Poison ivy oil spreads really easily. Take off your shoes OUTSIDE of your tent and other s common areas to prevent spread. Venomous Snakes - Danger-noodles abound! Mosquitoes - This is Texas in spring. Bring bug spray!! There is no lifeguard on duty at the ponds; swim at your own risk.
