2 Introduction Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is the busiest and most efficient airport in the world and considered one of the best in the world. ATL is the economic jewel of Georgia, generating a $34.8 billion economic impact for metro Atlanta and providing more than 63,000 jobs onsite, making it the state s largest employer. Hartsfield-Jackson is a global gateway, offering nonstop service to more than 150 domestic and more than 70 international destinations. These locales include major commercial centers in Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Africa, and South and Central America. ATL also holds the distinction of being the first airport in the world to serve more than 100 million passengers in a single year. Now with a capital improvement plan, a 20-year blueprint for growth named ATLNext, the Airport is poised to modernize its Domestic Terminal, expand cargo operations and concourses, replace two parking facilities and pave the way for a hotel and mixed-use development that will further solidify Hartsfield-Jackson as a beacon of economic strength and customer service in Georgia and beyond.

7 SMS Confidentiality policy To achieve the safest airport operations standards possible and the success of the Airport s SMS, every employee is responsible for communicating information that may compromise the integrity of operations at Hartsfield- Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Therefore, it is imperative that the Airport promote uninhibited reporting of all hazards, occurrences, incidents and accidents that affect the safety of Hartsfield-Jackson operations, employees or tenants. Hartsfield-Jackson s policy is that an employee can file a report under the Hartsfield-Jackson hazard and incident reporting system without any fear of retribution, and his or her identity will be kept confidential to the extent permissible by law. 4

8 SMS Confidential Reporting The hazard reports are shared in the safety action meeting to make stakeholders of the hazards identified and corrective action taken to close out the record. Since implementation, SMS confidential reporting has been very successful in reduce risk throughout the Airport. To date, a total of 308 confidential reports were submitted and corrective action taken.

10 Safety Action Group Purpose To enable Airport officials, tenants, concessionaire and other Airport stakeholders to exchange information and ideas To allow the concerns of all Airport stakeholders to be raised and taken into account by Airport officials, with a genuine desire on all sides to resolve any issues that may emerge through agreed voluntary action To offer a structured forum for discussion and an opportunity to reach a common understanding between interested groups concerning Airport operations and issues of concern among interested stakeholders To promote understanding about Airport operations more widely, through dissemination of relevant information to committee participants
