Published monthly and distributed without charge and for the benefit of all cottage owners at Lancaster Camp Ground, 2151 W Fair Ave., Lancaster, OH Letter from General Manager of Lancaster Camp Ground Dear Residents, I cannot believe that the summer is so quickly coming to a close. I was just talking with the maintenance crew and remembering when they were painting the pool in preparation for opening. Now, we are discussing the purchase of road salt for the winter: I can already see the trees beginning to change color and I don t like it. Not that I don t love the colors of autumn, I just don t like what that means. Even though I like cooler weather, I have realized that I do not like cold weather either. Now I know why so many residents head for warmer climates. Even though it may seem nice out right now, the Farmer s Almanac is projecting both a cold and wet winter. Therefore, I would encourage each resident to make sure they begin preparing their cottage for the cold weather and stock up on food stuffs and basic gear to protect yourself if (when?) the weather turns nasty. Last year, we had a LOT of cottage water lines that broke from the freezing cold so I would strongly encourage everyone to protect their water lines as best they can but do NOT let your water faucets drip because this impacts the entire association in increased water bills. I know, nobody wants to hear about frozen water lines in September but now is the time to prepare your cottages for the upcoming weather. I would also encourage every resident to find a neighbor or friend in the Camp Ground who you can stay in touch with if you have any problems and need help. You have likely seen our new maintenance crew member around the grounds, Sam Roby. He has a wealth of experience in property management and I believe he will be an asset to the Camp Ground so take a minute to say hello and make him feel welcome here. If you haven t noticed, we recently power-washed around the Hotel, Cafeteria, and Activity Building. Also, if you like horseshoes, we finished updating our court just south of the cafeteria. A final thought to leave you with: It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light, it scattered the night and made the day worth living. Lancaster Camp Ground Recreational Activities Most of you might be aware of those recreational activities here at the Camp Ground that are visible, such as the Copeland Pool or the

4 Lancaster Camp Ground Recreational Activities Most of you might be aware of those recreational activities here at the Camp Ground that are visible, such as the Copeland Pool or the basketball/tennis/pickleball courts. However, we also have several other recreational games down at the office which you can use. These include: Croquet Basketball Volleyball Bocce Ball Bag Toss (corn hole) Shuffleboard (cleaned and waxed entire court) Horseshoes (new course with upgraded stakes and boxes) You can use this equipment by coming down to the office and requesting it. We simply ask that the equipment be signed out by a current association member and that you promise to return it in the same condition in which you received it. If you lose or damage the equipment, you will be required to replace it so that the next resident can also have the enjoyment of playing as well. You can either sign it out for the day, overnight, or for the weekend (if the office will be closed). So, take some time before the summer ends to gather together your friends and neighbors and enjoy a game together! 5 Annual Association Meeting Review This past Saturday was the LCG annual Association meeting. We had a wonderful turnout and it was encouraging to see so many residents attend (especially since it was a hot, muggy day). I hope to see many of you actively involved in the Camp Ground in the coming year. We had a new parliamentarian this year, Mel Gravely, who was a tremendous asset during the meeting. I cannot cover everything on which action was taken but wanted to give a quick overview: The association elected the following residents to serve as trustees for a 3-year term: Scott Gottliebson #102 John Mills #48, and Ryan Sturgeon #332. Ellen Ford #331 was elected as trustee-elect. The Meritorious Service award went to Hettie Gerren (cottage #17). The Hall of Fame award went to Marty Cyrus (who served as our cook for several years). Review of Motions that carried: 7th Amended Articles of Incorporation were sent back to the Board of Trustees for review. That $30,000 be used from the East Field CD which matures on November 2014, to be repaid RV park income over a 4-6 year period and have the sewer installed prior to April 1, This is not a complete list but just the highlights. The friendly usher greeted her at the door and helped her up the flight of steps, "Where would you like to sit?" he asked politely. "The front row please," she answered. "You really don't want to do that," the usher said "The pastor is really boring." "Do you happen to know who I am?" the woman inquired. "No." he said.
