3 Waynoka News - 3 Waynoka Property Owners Association Board of Trustees Meeting Saturday, July 9, 2011 Pres. McDulin called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Roll Call: Present: Blackburn, Johnson, Kinney, Kirk, McDulin, Meyer, Purdin, Robinson and Mgr. Cahall Absent: Lindy Minutes: The motion to approve the minutes of the June meeting as published in the July Waynoka Newsletter was made by Purdin, seconded by Meyer and passed by those present. The invocation was given by Pastor Stoney Hamilton following his introduction as the new pastor of the Lake Waynoka Chapel. The Pledge of Allegiance was then recited. Treasurer s Report (Betty Purdin): The Treasurer encouraged everyone to pick up a copy of the financial report. Purdin noted that the investments of the WPOA (as shown on page 4 of the report) are now all FICA insured. She suggested that property owners with questions about the finances of the WPOA ask Mgr. Cahall for answers. Manager s Report (Paul Cahall): Cahall shared that revenues are up about $25K and expenses are down about $18K. He believes that things are looking good for the year. The road paving will begin the end of July and be completed before Labor Day. The maintenance staff is beginning to install the new road signs. Every intersection will have some kind of signage. There will be a few speed limit changes: the Indian Cove area and the main entrance road will both be 25 mph. At the triangle near the main entrance the stop except when turning right signs will be replaced with three way stop signs. Mgr. Cahall then asked for the help of property owners in identifying vandalism. He shared that the WPOA spends significant money each year to replace stolen street signs, to repair kicked out fences and damaged plumbing in restrooms, and so on. He urged all residents, especially the 1200 full time residents of Lake Waynoka, to report any activity that they consider suspicious to Security. Security cannot be everywhere all of the time. They need the help of Lake Waynoka s residents to stop the vandalism. The weather sirens are now functional. Bids are being sought to relocate the fence in the children s area at the beach. Other Reports: Security: none Long Range Planning (Ron Gloss): Gloss noted that the final return number of property owner surveys was 183 or approximately 10%-11%. This return was not as good as in 2006, but Gloss suggested it might be because property owners are feeling more positive about the Lake. A subcommittee has been created to analyze the survey responses. Lake Advisory (George Kinney): MAD Scientists & Associates conducted a walking water shed survey this past month to witness the inflow of ground surface water in the Lake. They are especially concerned about the lack of silt protection at construction sites around the Lake. Sampling bottles have been received to obtain water samples following a rainfall. Since the conditions are right today samples will be taken by committee members and held for MAD until they are picked up for analysis. Campground (Walt Robinson): Robinson shared that things are going good at the Camp-ground. The Campground s 4th of July events were fun as will be the Kid s Fishing Tournament at 11 on the Beach during Waynoka Day. The Campground Picnic Dinner will be on July 30th. In September a Senior Prom Night featuring the music of the 50s, 60s, and 70s will be held. The Watersports Club (Steve Johnson): The Poker Run is on July 30th from 12 to 6 with a DJ at the Beach until 11. The Club members are now practicing for the Labor Day Ski Show on September 3rd. The Chapel (Pastor Stoney Hamilton): Pastor Hamilton introduced himself and his wife, Rhonda. He extended an invitation to everyone to join them for the preaching and music during the services of the Lake Waynoka Chapel on Sundays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Civic Club (Joe Farrell): Farrell shared that American Legion Post #180 will provide an honor guard for Waynoka Day. The next Civic Club meeting is July 26th at 7 p.m. in the Lodge. The annual Sock Hop will be Saturday, July 30th from 8 until midnight. The cost is $8 a person or $15 a couple. Flyers for the Art Festival are available. Farrell asked that if anyone is interested in hosting an artist to please contact Joanne Edwards. Shawnee Squaws (Kathy Farrell): Farrell shared that the Squaws would be selling ice cream sodas and split the pot tickets on Waynoka Day. Half of the proceeds from the split the pot tickets benefit the fireworks on Labor Day weekend. Lake Committee (Betty Purdin): A night bass tournament will be held on Saturday, July 30th from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. Sunday morning. (CONTINUED ON PAGE 5)

5 Waynoka News - 5 Resolutions and Motions: none Unfinished Business: Mgr. Cahall shared that the grassy area around the lounge would be roped off on Waynoka Day. No alcohol will be allowed outside of this area as required by the State of Ohio. New Business: Pres. McDulin shared that past WPOA President, Tim Redick, is recovering from major surgery and asked that he be kept in everyone s thoughts and prayers. McDulin then shared the items discussed during the July workshop meeting: The price for guest swimming on Waynoka Day was set at $5 per person. Monies were approved and the Manager was directed to attempt to purchase additional lots for boat and trailer storage at the Campground. After much discussion it was decided that tours of Lake Waynoka would not be offered on the new website. The button to request a tour will be removed and a statement suggesting that a local realtor be contacted will replace it. Because there is still considerable interest it was decided that the Manager and the Long Range Planning Committee would be directed to resurrect the plans for the construction of a boat storage area for property owners. The Long Range Planning Committee will also be asked to assist the Board in working with five area townships to get a joint Fire and EMS station inside Lake Waynoka. Walt Robinson will chair the project committee with assistance from McDulin. Although the weather sirens have been repaired and are functional, they will become obsolete next year when the county switches from analog to digital signals. The cost of replacing the sirens to meet the new requirements will be considerable. One of the two bids requested to relocate the fence in the children s area at the Beach has been received. When the second bid comes in, work will proceed to move the fence. A sign directing drivers who are not eligible to enter the Lake via the back gate has been ordered and will be erected at the four way stop at Pool-Kuntz and Weis Roads. It will divert these drivers to the front entrance. Jackson Township has okayed this sign. The Civic Club received permission to serve wine the evening of the art auction on August 20th during the Arts Festival. The Watersports Club received permission to practice with multiple skiers prior to the Labor Day Ski Show. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays they may practice from 6 p.m. until the light comes on at the dam and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Security will be given a list of the boats involved in these practices. Membership Concerns: Andy Bilhardt (Lot #453): Bilhardt pointed to the tattered flag hanging in the Lodge and stated that it is okay to have a tattered flag here. However, he strongly objects to tattered flags hanging on flagpoles in the yards of residences at Lake Waynoka. He stated that these flags should be removed and disposed of properly because it is disrespectful to our country. Bilhardt suggested that someone of authority contact property owners who do not know to do this. Joe Farrell (Lot #664): Farrell asked if the request for BYOB had been approved for the Sock Hop. McDulin stated that it had. Farrell also shared that American Legion Post #180 has a flag burning scheduled for Friday, September 9th. Doris Kitchen (Lot #2839): Kitchen announced that ReMax would be offering hot air balloon rides as the balloon is tethered to the ground during the latter hours of Waynoka Day. Donations toward the cost of the fireworks will be accepted. Betty Purdin (Lot #062): Purdin asked everyone to continue saving aluminum cans (paying $.75 a pound presently) for the Labor Day weekend fireworks. She is also accepting donations of monies for the fireworks. Adjournment: The motion to adjourn was made by Meyer, seconded by Purdin, and passed by a unanimous vote at 10:37 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Joanne A. Coker WPOA Assistant Recording Secretary

7 Waynoka News - 7 Waynoka Regional Water and Sewer District 1 Waynoka Drive, Sardinia, Ohio WRWSD MEETNG - Sat., July 9, 2011 President Ron Gloss called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. Roll Call: Present: Doughman, Gloss, Kirk, Purdin, Rider and Mgr. Cahall Absent: Buskey (ex.) and Redick (ex.) Minutes: The minutes of the June 11th WRWSD meeting were read. A motion to approve the minutes was made by Doughman, seconded by Rider and passed unanimously. President s Report: Pres. Gloss shared that since a workshop meeting was not held on the last Monday in June at 7 p.m. there is little business to be conducted during this meeting. However, Gloss did present and explain Resolution No which provides for the disposal of real property, Lot #3505, which is no longer necessary or needed for the operation of the WRWSD. Lot #3505 was inherited by the WRWSD through a lawsuit several years ago. Legal counsel has determined that this lot is not certified to be marketable or free from liens and encumbrances and has nominal value because it does not have a clear title. The WRWSD has no need for this property, but cannot give it away because the Ohio Revised Code prohibits this action. However, the lot may be transferred to a buyer by a quit claim deed which would allow the holder of this deed access to the Lake and its amenities. Management will be directed to attempt to sell Lot #3505. (See Motions and Resolutions below.) Treasurer s Report: Gloss noted that the June financial report is attached to the WRWSD meeting agenda. Treasurer Buskey will be available for questions later in the month. Manager s Report (Paul Cahall): The yard reclamation has been completed. However, if property owners are unhappy with the work done in their yards or if a property owner has not yet requested work be done, contact the Manager immediately. The water meter readings improved over last month. Now only forty meters cannot be read by driving by. It is believed that the problem with these meters is because they either have metal lids or they are too deep in the ground. The Manager is currently negotiating with Utility Service and Supply, Inc. over who is responsible to provide the materials needed to correct the remaining problems as well as the cost of those materials. Caps/plugs will be inserted in the holes of the lids of all meters that can be read by driving by. Motions and Resolutions: Resolution # was made by Gloss and seconded by Doughman to dispose of the real property, Lot #3505, which is no longer necessary or needed for the operation of the WRSWD. The vote was taken and the motion passed with six yea votes (Buskey by proxy). Other Business: none Membership Concerns: none Adjournment: The motion to adjourn was made by Doughman and seconded by Rider. All were in favor and the meeting was adjourned at 9:49 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Joanne A. Coker, WRWSD Assistant Recording Secretary

9 Waynoka News - 9 Manager s Message I would like to ask for the Lake Waynoka membership s help on a couple of items. This summer we have had some senseless acts of vandalism that cost us all money that could be used for other things. If you have any information on the examples listed below or see anything else going on please contact security. Don t let the actions of a few ruin it for everyone else. 1. Removal of street signs 2. Damage to Beach house plumbing 3. Removal of sink in campground bathroom 4. Breaking of fencing and turning donuts in rec area parking lots 5. Breaking of seats on picnic tables at beach pavilion. Also if you have a camper in the campground, please remember to turn off all your electrical equipment when you are not here. One of the largest expenses we have in operating the campground is utilities and keeping that cost down keeps your nightly rate down. Thank you, Paul Cahall, General Manager WAYNOKA TRIBE Hot enough for ya? I'm pretty sure I saw two fire hydrants fighting over a dog a couple of weeks ago. 13 Waynoka News - 13 Golf News & Notes Four more weeks gone and the League is surviving either a wet course or devastating heat. In spite of Mother Nature, 18 players shot one or more pars with the leaders being Jim Hackworth (11), and Tom Wyatt (10). George Kinney hit a line drive chip shot that hit the flag stick and dropped into the hole for a Par 3 on Hole #5. (It looked good on paper, folks!) Birdies were enjoyed by Jim Bridges on the Par 4 Hole #12, and Ron Gloss on the Par 4 Hole #16. Great shooting everybody. The low gross score for men was shot by both Jim Hackworth and Tom Wyatt (42). Low gross score for women was shot by Mary Kay Wolfe (56) and Tillie Doughman (57). Yea! Seen on the course: On her second shot, Marilyn Gloss aimed for and hit the bridge over the creek on Hole #4, bounced the ball on the left railing then to the right railing, then onto the floor of the bridge twice, finally stopping on the other side of the bridge. Top that, golfers! Heard on the course: A ball that is findable and hittable is a mighty good shot was a quote from Paul Cahall. According to Paul he had a lot of mighty good shots (by his very own definition). and we on the league agree with his philosophy. The Golf League team standings can be viewed on the new Lake Waynoka web site. Go to com and click on Clubs and then on Golf League. There you will find our Rules, Teams, Schedule and Standings. Sun. The children may be at school. You may be at work, the shopping center, or any other place. To prepare for those possible separations, take a few minutes and develop a reunion plan. This plan will help you get back together, or if it is not possible, to let each other know you are okay. Choose one place near your home in case of a sudden emergency, such as fire: Choose at least 2-3 places outside your neighborhood in case you cannot return home. Possibilities include neighbor s, friends, or relative s homes, local schools, churches, parks, or community centers. If you arrive home and no one is there, it will give you some places to start looking Choose someone who lives at least 100 miles away who can be contacted by all family members if it becomes impossible to reach the reunion locations. You can report to them where and how you are and learn where other family members are as well. Be sure each family member carries the contact person s name and phone number with them.
