3 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Presidents Message; Hey Hey, It is really spring.if you have not already awakened the beast in your garage, it is time. The weather is improving daily and road time is on the agenda. There a lots of activities scheduled in the coming weeks. We have the Albany Upstairs-downtown Wine Walk on May 3rd. The Loyalty Days Corvette event is on May 4th. This is always fun and if you want you can drive your car in the parade in Newport. We had a great turn out for the Eola Hills brunch on April 21st. After the brunch we took a little cruise to Fort Hoskins in Benton County. It was a beautiful day for a cruise and the brunch was not bad either. Beaver State had 18 people for the brunch and 20 for the cruise afterwards. Cascade Corvette Club had the same number of folks so the caravan included about 20 cars. Very Cool. I have included some pictures taken at the event. After Fort Hoskins, we all kinda went our seperate ways. Some went east, some went south and I went north. All in all it was a great brunch and cruise. Thanks Cascade Corvette Club for hosting this event. Remember folks this months club meeting is going to be all about the National Corvette Museum Caravan coming up next summer. Mr. Gary Cockriel who represents the National Corvette Museum will be at Ciddicis to speak about the museum and the caravan. If you are going on the caravan or are thinking about going then you should plan to attend. If you are definitely not planning on going then you need not come to the May BSCC club meeting.

4 The attendance drawing was not claimed in April so the May drawing is worth $ We will do the drawing at the June meeting since the May meeting is focused only on the National Corvette Museum caravan and we may not have all of our club members in attendance. We will draw for May and June at the June meeting. Also, we had some minor confusion regarding name tags at last months meeting. A person who s name will not be mentioned here claimed she did not have to pay the name tag fine, because she had a name tag. The name tag was one she apparently wears at work. I am here to set the record straight. The only name tag that avoids the $1:00 fine at the BSCC meetings is the official BSCC name tag. The person who protested this did finally pay the fine. Thanks Queen...

5 A man decided he was going to ride his bike from Phoenix to Flagstaff. He got as far as Black Canyon City before the mountains became to much and he could go no further. He stuck his thumb out, but after 3 hours, he hadn t gotten a single person to stop. Finally, a guy in a Corvette pulled over and offered him a ride. Of course, the bike would not fit in the car. The corvette owner found a piece of rope lying by the highway and tied it to his bumper. He tied other end to the bike and told the man that if he was going to fast, to honk his horn on the bike and he would slow down. Everything went fine for the first 30 miles. Suddenly, another Corvette blew past them. Not to be outdone, the Corvette pulling the bike took off after the other. A short distance down the road, the Corvettes, both going over 120mph, blew through a speed trap. The police officer noted the speed form his radar gun and radioed the other officer that he has two Corvettes headed his way at over 120mph. He then relayed,... and your not going to believe this, but there s a guy on a 10-speed bike honking to pass!

Here she is Treasurer s report: Paid insurance $250 State of Oregon $50 $ balance She brought the name tags that were ordered Unfinished Business: NCMC info on the website if you are interested in going. May meeting will be all about the NCMC Tour 6:15 p.m. (not 6:30 p.m.) (member attendance drawing will be rolled over to June) S.A. H.S. we had 7 (8) cars Rollin Oldies had people signed up to drive cars from Mark Thomas Motors they donated $20 per test drive. Plus 60 cars. Two members took home trophies: Calvin and Laurie Cox best sports car Pat Melius best convertible Congrats. New member packets still available and announcements for car shows on the counter.

Officially move to 7pm as official start time. Bring in guest speakers if you know someone who has something interesting to share about corvettes, invite them, but let Pat know. 8 July 12 and 13 Cruise for CASA Friday night cruise downtown - $5 per car Show on Saturday is $20. Is there interest in BSCC being a sponsor? Terry Thompson presented the club with the various sponsorship options. We voted on the $250 level radio, newspaper, newsletter, posters t- shirts Larry and Susan Angland presented the club with a gimmick rally idea to be held in Sweet Home. This is a drive-by scavenger hunt. The goal is for BSCC to be a sponsor. Pat asked Larry and Susan to put the details in writing to present to the club. More discussion in June. Tech time: Al s car is being cut into pieces he bought a new front end. Jo Rae got new brakes and steering sensor. BIRFUTT: You have to do something really stupid, make a mistake at a BSCC event. The real BIRFUTT was found in Sunriver Pat auctioned off the impostor BIRFUTT- Don had the high of for $15 to Don. Member in attendance drawing. $20.00 Calvin Cox was not here to win. Next drawing will be held in June for $30 for the May drawing Followed by the June drawing either $10 or $40 depends on if the May winner is present or not.

9 LETTER FROM THE EDITOR I m am sorry this got out sooo late. I had to fly back to North Carolina and escort my very ill Mother back home, a trip she should not have taken. The day before I left for the East coast I found out that a young lady who had lived with us and was part of our family for over three years had killed herself. So I went to N.C. and picked my mother up at the hospital. I then took her to her sister s house. Met a bunch of family I had seen in 40 years. The next day was HELL day. I had to get my Mom on two flights back to Oregon. Did I happen to say she can t walk. With the Help of DELTA employees we were able to get my Mom tranfered to the next flight out of Atlanta of all places. This air port is worse than Dallas/ Fort Worth. We held the plane we came in on by 40 minutes. Then they held our flight unitl we could get my Mom into the plane. Once in Portland she had to be transported to Walla Walla Washington. After Making sure she was OK. We then return to Salem so I could be a Pall Bearer for this young lady who we loved so much. I am sorry the news letter was not on the front burner. The Editor Not really an escuse, Just letting you all know at the time the News letter wasn t important to me at the time.

10 Dear Beaver state corvette club I am Peter Belfanti the Race Chairman for Team Continental an ICSCC racing club. I would like to extend to you an invitation to all of your members to our friday May 24th 2013 High Performance Driving Event at Oregon raceway park. The track day is open to all cars and drivers do not need a competition license. For a track day fee TC will provide up to 5 sessions of on track time with an instructor. Event details and entry is not open yet on motorsportsreg.com but I wanted to start getting the word out now. The date is firm and you can place it on your calendar of events for 2013 if you like. TC appreciates your support and would welcome some beautiful corvettes to join our track day! 11 2014 NCM Bowling Green Caravan I guess I am the contact for the 2014 Caravan. Leanne and I just registered for the caravan. We will need to consider having a meeting or two to decide what our group is going to do. I will start a sign-up sheet at the next meeting so I can contact those interested in going for some advance planning. There has been some discussions about our club doing our own thing for part of the trip. The route that the Caravan is taking goes by some incredible sights, just missing them (Mount Rushmore, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park). Do we want to take a couple extra days to explore and maybe join the Carvan in Casper Wyoming? We will need to get together and figure it out. I know this is an expensive trip, but I have a plan so that you can stay in Nashville for five nights for free which could help you lower your cost quite a bit. Nashville is about an hour from Bowling Green. It sounds like lodging real close will be very limited and will likely require a minute drive at least. Nashville seems like a natural choice to me. There would be lots to do, unlike the closer small towns we might stay in. Then again, it is something we need to get together and discuss. 12 From: Robin Forrer Sent: Monday, February 04, :14 PM To: PacificNWCaravan Subject: Hotel reservations for the Caravan Hello everyone, I am working with the list of people in this who had shown interest in the 2014 NCM Caravan. I have not received the registered list from the NCM as yet, so I will assume that many of you will be on it when I do get it! In the meantime, we have received an offer from one of our own participants, Peggy to graciously take on the hotel reservations for each of you. See will charge a fee of $60.00 per car, for the trip to Bowling Green. For the return trip, a minimum of $ would be charged and critiqued to your individual trips, hence the additonal charge. What I would like to know at this point is, would enough of you want to utilize this service in either or both directions for the trip? Please me asap so we can make our plans accordingly. I assure you all the hotels are blocked in place, but with most not accepting a reservation till August-October A few will now, but no need to do anything yet on that. This is purely to see if you will utilize Peggy for your reservations or not. Thank you, and Save the Wave!
