She is moving from Charleston, South Carolina December 2 nd and looking forward to spending the holidays in sunny Florida. Her unit #103 is next to long-time girlfriend and Harbour Hill resident Cindy Cockburn. They met in Newport, Rhode Island in 1980 and have been lifelong friends. Thayer previously lived in Denver, Colorado and is the mother of three children: Chauncy, Dominique and Sefton. Her first grandchild, Beckett, arrived three months ago in NYC and she looks forward to many happy vacations with all in St. Pete strolling along Beach Drive. What are Thayer s passions? 3 A note from the President I am pleased to report that all four ballot proposals passed by wide margins with over 85% of our owners casting votes at our recent Annual Member s Meeting. Two of the proposals were updates to our bylaws: The Annual Members meeting will now be held on the 2 nd Monday of November each year rather than the 3 rd Monday. Next year s meeting will be November 12 The maximum number of directors on our board has now been set at 7. We were fortunate to have had 11 owners run for the board and we held our first election since The board would like to thank Bud Karins, who will be rotating off the board, for his service over the past year. The new board is listed below. Lou Santoro and Barbara Herzfeld were the lucky winners of the two lottery parking spots. I m also happy to report that two committees now have new Chairs: Social Committee - Joan Karins has volunteered to take over from Cathy Leonard as chair, and Library Committee - Dwight and Sara Fielder have agreed to take over from Linda Santoro as cochairs. Pete, Jim & Lou hanging the holiday lights What you need to know about your 2018 Monthly Fees As reported at the October Board meeting, the monthly fees will increase in January by $2.77 for every unit, due to the increase in the Spectrum TV/Internet charge. All owners not using the direct withdrawal (ACH) payment method will receive a new coupon book for For owners paying by automatic check- please, please, please remember to instruct your bank to change the payment amount. For owners paying by ACH withdrawal- there is nothing for you to do since Associa will update all records. If any owner paying by check wants to change to the ACH method, please contact Paul at hhtreasurer700@gmail.com as soon as possible. 4

5 Library Corner Welcome back everyone. Feel free to donate your great summer reads to the library and audio books are always in demand. We have a request to those who get out-of-town newspapers such as Wall Street Journal, New York Times, etc. If possible, drop them off in the library when you finish with them. Thanks! Toilet Rebate Program News Nextdoor Old NE posting from Bill Logan Communications Manager St Petersburg Water Resources Wanna save water... and money? Replace your high flow toilets, which use from 3 to 7 gallons per flush, with low-flow toilets that use 1.6 gallons per flush. New High-Efficiency Toilets (HETs) use even less water gallons per flush or less! PLUS -- now there's more incentive to make the switch, with the city's re-vamped TOILET REBATE program! This provides eligible water customers up to $100 back for replacing a high-flush toilet (manufactured before 1994) with a new high efficiency, EPA WaterSense model. An EPA WaterSense labeled high-efficiency toilet save 20% more water than regular low flush toilets. More than 2,000 toilet models carry the WaterSense label, including many low-cost models found in local stores. Customers MUST call (727) or ToiletRebateOffice@stpete.org to check eligibility, complete an application, and receive a reservation number for a rebate. 5

6 Test your heat before you need it! With fall comes cooler weather. All summer the heating strips in the A/C have had cool air blowing across them bringing in tiny amounts of textile fibers, skin cells etc. that deposit on them. Too avoid that sudden horrid odor unexpectedly, We suggest on a cool day you can open the windows and turn the heat up to 80F for twenty minutes to clean the particles off and then you will avoid putting this odor into a cold closed home when it is inconvenient. If you notice any issues you can call your A/C service provider and have it addressed then rather than waiting for the first cold spell when everybody may have issues and risk not getting service promptly. Recycle Reminders We recycle at Harbour Hill. You can find four blue recycle bins in the 1 st floor garage near the south garage door. To maximize space please empty bags into bins, then toss in your used bag. The recycle bins are collected each Tuesday, and they are almost always packed. By depositing recycling on Wednesday, there will always be room! The following items cannot be recycled in our bins because they contaminate the other materials that we recycle. No Corrugated Boxes: The glue holding the layers of cardboard which makes it corrugated contaminates our collection. As outlined in our condo Trash Policy (included in the Harbour Hill Policies and Procedures), all corrugated boxes are to be flattened and placed in the dumpster outside the alley entrance. No Batteries: Batteries are no longer collected. According to County Guidelines only rechargeable batteries are eligible and we no longer collect rechargeable batteries in a separate bin. The County directs us to place regular batteries in the trash. No Pizza Boxes: Usually pizza boxes are corrugated and contain food remnants that also contaminate our recycling materials. No Styrofoam: Publix collects styrofoam trays. By NOT purchasing styrofoam cups and plates, you will avoid the extra steps of recycling. No Food Remnants: Food particles left in glass containers, aluminum containers, or paper packaging contaminate the recycle bins. 6
