Hot fun in the summertime Our neighbors and their family and friends enjoyed the June 30 beach bonfire on what proved to be a gorgeous evening filled with live music and s mores. It was one of many beautiful days on the beach at Harbour Mansion this summer. There is still have some firewood left over, so look another bonfire later this summer! Recent unit sales: 9A: $440,000 (4/19/18) 3B: $432,000 (4/27/18) 7L: $372,000 (5/24/18) The next open board meeting of the Harbour Mansion Condominium Association is scheduled for Monday, August 27, 7 p.m. in the 2 nd floor clubroom. 675 Ocean Avenue, West End, Long Branch, NJ
Latest improvements The automatic and re-oriented doors between the garage and north entrance hallway and between the elevator and north entrance lobbies have proven very convenient for unit owners and other residents pushing carts or holding bags. How did we manage so many years without them?!? In the fall, the elevator cabs will be remodeled and front door on the south side of the building, by the security desk, will be replaced. (A temporary entrance door was installed this spring.) Some deficiencies on the exterior of the building will also be corrected. Along with new furniture, new pieces of art have been a fitting addition to our renovated lobby. They truly help make a good first impression to family, friends and guests who have not been to Harbour Mansion in a few years, not to mention realtors and prospective buyers. 675 Ocean Avenue, West End, Long Branch, NJ
Harbour Mansion board of trustees, Meet Cathy Pellegrino During the Harbour Mansion Condominium Association annual meeting on July 16, Mike Greco and Steve Issman were elected members of the board of trustees. Pictured, left to right, are trustees Mike, Steve, Ray Ambrosino and Lois Gerber. (Trustee Mike Behar was absent.) After the election results were announced, Board President Ray thanked outgoing trustees Andrew Prince and Susan Diamond for their service on the board. Q: Why did you decide to buy here? Cathy: I decided to buy a unit in Harbour Mansion because of the location directly on the beach. The building was in the beginning stages of the renovation and I saw the potential of living in a beautiful building in a wonderful location. I m so happy I made the right decision in choosing HM. Q: What do you like most about Harbour Mansion? Cathy: What I like most about Harbour Mansion is the location and beautiful building, I have met a group of wonderful, caring and friendly people. I was welcomed and included in many functions and gettogethers. Everyone here is always willing to lend a helping hand and express kinds words. Q: What has surprised you most about Harbour Mansion? Cathy: I never expected condo living to be so family-like! 675 Ocean Avenue, West End, Long Branch, NJ
Harbour Mansion s longest-tenured staff members Ken Mellone John Inman Ken joined the Harbour Mansion staff in We were not a gated community back then, he recalls. Also, we were not security, we were doormen. We would open and close the front door residents and guests. Ken left in 1985 to oversee the security staff of Silverton Mainship Corp. in Marlboro but, after luxury taxes caused the company to move to Florida, he returned to Harbour Mansion in He became a full-time security employee in 1992 and began his current 11 p.m. 7 a.m. shift in John Inman describes himself as a man of faith, and a family man. He came to Harbour Mansion in 2006 from Seabrook Village, where he worked as a first responder and security officer. He has been married to his lovely wife for 27 years and has an adult daughter. John also believes in putting his faith into action. He and his wife tend to the needs of some of the area s hungry and homeless people through their personal ministry, Food for the Soul. In addition, John is a coach, mentor and counselor who continues to touch the lives of some of the area s youth. He looks forward to serving the Harbour Mansion community for many years to come. 675 Ocean Avenue, West End, Long Branch, NJ
How do I go about getting my windows replaced? Have you noticed not all windows on each unit line look identical anymore? That s because a number of neighbors have had their windows replaced during the past year. If you re considering doing the same, be sure to read the window replacement information posted on the Harbour Mansion website resident information section: The information you should be familiar with includes specifications and guidelines as well as a list of manufacturers and contractors. Hardcopies of this information are also available from Property Manager Lisa Williams. You are also encouraged to speak with neighbors about their experience having windows replaced. You can also ask the contractor you re considering if they can give you the names and units of Harbour Mansion neighbors whose windows they ve replaced. Long Branch: How a billion dollars helped raise the city from a riotous past As We Sit At The Shore, a poem by Marshall Harth As we sit at the shore Waves and sand we adore Friends as neighbors Neighbors as friends Seems the circle never ends Tides are high Tides are low We all know Just where to go Harbour Mansion Is our passion Marshall Harth 23 January 2018 Long Branch The Asbury Park Press recently published a lengthy article about the checkered history and recent renaissance of Long Branch. It includes comments, statistics and photos many Harbour Mansion neighbors will be interested in seeing. Check it out at: ment/2018/06/29/long-branch-redevelopmentpier-village-broadway-boardwalk/ / 675 Ocean Avenue, West End, Long Branch, NJ
Construction near West End Park Even as construction continues on Ocean Avenue between Brighton Avenue and West End Court, our neighbors are continuing to take advantage of the farmers market on Thursdays and concerts on Sunday evenings and late Saturday afternoons at West End Park. A new, modern playground replaced the old playground and some of the bocce courts at the park this spring. Construction activities are also taking place across West End Park on Brighton Avenue, on some of the lots where buildings were destroyed by fire in Please don t be this neighbor For whatever reason, someone thought it was okay to leave a carriage filled with recyclables and trash in one of the refuse rooms. Actually, recyclables should be placed in the appropriately-marked bins, and trash should be put down the chute. Carriages should be returned to the bottom of the stairwell by the north entrance and elevator lobby. Please be sure to tell your housekeeper and family. Thank you for your cooperation! Content suggestions welcomed The next issue of this quarterly newsletter will be published during the fall. If you would like to contribute content or suggest ideas, please send an to brunscharles@icloud.com, call , mail Charley Bruns at unit 3E, or slip a note under his door by September 30. All Harbour Mansion-related content or ideas of potential interest to a wide group of unit owners and renters, except editorials and other opinion pieces, will be considered. Photos are also welcomed! 675 Ocean Avenue, West End, Long Branch, NJ
