Newsletter Editor Notes Linda Yelich Hello just a few items discussed at meeting last Monday change of breakfast venue to try Glenda did some footwork on that and I will post her comments hereafter. The Bug Run is July 8 th starting at Al Ingles, #11 Jenkins Drive in Red Deer. 9AM meet for coffee and a doughnut with a 10 AM departure to go smash some bugs. He thinks we will be back around 2 PM at which time he is going to feed us. Al would like confirmations around mid to late June from all who are planning on attending. His phone number is or e mail: aingles75@gmail.com Condolences from the Chapter to Dave and Debbie Carritt on the passing of Dave s Mother. Our thoughts are with you. Breakfast Venue Survey is done! Thank you everyone for your s and phone messages, I had a pretty good response. In a nut shell there was an overwhelming majority to try another restaurant for reasons mostly pertaining to price. The top two suggestions were A & W and Humpty's. We are going to give A & W a "test run" this Sunday June 3rd. Hope to see you there! Glenda A & W South Gasoline Alley, West side of QE2 next to the Esso Station. Breakfast at 9:00 followed by a ride at 10:00.

Chapter Director Items of Interest.. Well another month is just about in the books. We have had some pretty good riding weather as of late. By the looks of the forecast the weather could be a little wet for the next few days. That's OK because we can sure use the moisture. The only problem with this equation is that sometimes once it starts it doesn't know when to quit. Hopefully all will work out. We had our monthly Chapter meeting last night, May 28 th, with 23 attending. Pretty good turn out. Nearly everyone rode their bikes or trikes or spiders The weather was hot - 30 degrees. Very warm but good for riding home after the meeting and a stop at Dairy Queen. Sunday after breakfast some of us went on a short ride out Crimson Lake with a stop in Rocky. We left with nine bikes but at Rocky two returned to Red Deer and other commitments. The other seven bikes continued on to the lake. When we left the lake we headed back to Rocky where myself and Linda split off to ride out to Cow Lake and come back on the Little Prairie Creek Road. It was a very good ride new pavement and very little traffic. The long weekend in May we travelled to Jasper via the ice field parkway with a stop at Saskatchewan River Crossing. Checked out gas prices. HIGH! HIGH! Regular gas $ Premium $ Would not like to pay those prices very often. Glenda, Terry, George and Margaret came along with us. Well that is about it for now. All was actually pretty quiet for the month. RIDE SAFE AND KEEP THE RUBBER DOWN CHAPTER DIRECTORS WAYNE AND LINDA Glenda supplied some terrific pictures of their jaunt to the wilderness

Ride to Jasper Mountains, waterfalls, blossoms and great friends make an overnight getaway well worth it! "May long" - Wayne & Linda, George & Margaret and Terry & I were planning on going to the Victoria Days Rally in Salmon Arm as we often do. Due to mudslides along the TransCanada and flooding in the Salmon Arm area we made some last minute changes and decided instead to go north to Jasper. The weather was perfect for riding and the scenery breathtaking along the Icefields Parkway. We met in RMH for coffee and stopped for gas in Nordegg. On the way to Saskatchewan River Crossing we saw some mountain sheep on the highway near Abraham Lake, the water levels were quite low. At the Crossing we made some new friends from Brazil intrigued with our Goldwing's as they ride a Goldwing as well. It's interesting how the brotherhood/sisterhood in the Goldwing family is worldwide. Photos and stories were shared, very nice folks to meet. Gas at the Crossing was $1.99/litre for regular. We stopped fairly often to enjoy the views at Bridal Veil Falls, Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls. We stayed at the Mount Robson Inn, very nice lodging for a reasonable price which included a bottle of wine and breakfast. The next morning we rode to Maligne Canyon and did some serious hiking to the first three bridges. We carried on our journey home through Hinton with a lunch stop in Edson and decided at Cynthia to ride through Brazeau Dam and on to RMH. Stopped in Rocky for an ice-cap and went our separate routes to Sundre, Innisfail and Red Deer. Terry and I put on just under 950 km round trip from Red Deer. Very enjoyable! Miles of Smiles. Glenda

MILLION MILES OF MEMORIES By Glenn Turple Glenn took a short break on the history lessons and will carry on next issue - in the meantime he has sent along a little humor from one biker to another. One summer evening, during a violent thunderstorm, a mother was tucking her son into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight? The Mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. I can t dear, she said. I have to sleep in Daddy s room. A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice: The Big Sissy! When I was six months pregnant with my third child, my three year old came into the room when I was just getting ready to get into the shower. She said Mommy, you are getting fat! I replied, Yes, honey, remember Mommy has a baby growing in her tummy. I know, she replied, but what s growing in your butt?

Hello to all Prairies District members, We hope everyone has been taking advantage of the start of the 2018 riding season and just remember that although May was Motorcycle Awareness month, we should never let our guard down throughout the riding season. Watch the intersections, side roads and always be aware of the vehicles that may not stop at red light or stop signs. The one thing that most motorist say at a motorcycle accident, is that they never saw you. Hi- Vis clothing, bright light and hand motions can help the other vehicle operators see you. For those that have already been on day, weekend or other rides, we would like to hear from you and send us an at gpremech@gmail.com. Let us know about them so that we can pass them onto other member throughout our Chapters and District. We would like to hear from any of the members that attended the Hoot- In-The-Ute Rally that was held May 25th -27th in Midway, Utah. Remember to check the District webpage and look at the events calendar for upcoming gatherings and training dates. Until next month, Gary and Susan Premech Prairies District Directors A sign of the times..

And from the Assistant Director I had a few pictures and funnies to share for our June Newsletter. Pam and I went for a ride on our Spyders and stopped in front of a " Local Town Train Landmark" I wondered if anyone could guess where it is located? Joke for you: Question: Why a Men like parking lot spaces? Answer: The Good ones are all taken...and the rest are Handicapped! Lol! Thank you for doing the Newsletter every month! Sincerely, Irene and Don Hecht

The Road Trip... While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch. After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant, and resumed their trip. When leaving, the woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table, and she didn't miss them until they had been driving for about forty minutes. By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance Before they could find a place to turn around, in order to return to the restaurant to retrieve her glasses. All the way back, the elderly husband became the classic grumpy old man. He fussed, complained and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire return drive. The more he chided

her, the more agitated he became. He just wouldn't let up for a single minute. To her relief, they finally arrived at the restaurant. As the woman got out of the car, and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, the old geezer yelled out to her, "While you're in there, you might as well get my hat and the credit card."
