As he mentioned before, Ken saw HOD s schedule for next year. They don t have anything for Sonoma Raceway, but they do at Thunder Hill. Ken will get with David Ray to see if there is a way we could do an autocross out there with them. Ken will also contact Doug Gail with Track Masters to see if we can do an autocross with them at Sonoma Raceway. Ken also announced that Santa Clara Corvettes is hoping to put on 10 autocrosses this upcoming year at both the Cow Palace and at the Marina Airport. He is unsure how many they will actually put on, but that is the number of dates they have requested from the two locations. Old Business: There was no old business. New Business: Bill D. will not host Poker Faces this month. He also announced that he will again have two Warrior tickets to raffle off at the Christmas Dinner. Neil A. made a motion to have the club buy the liquid refreshments after the meeting. The motion was seconded by Steve J. and was approved. Announcements: Lee C. announced Matrix will have a fund raiser at Lagunitas Tap Room in Petaluma on January 30 th. They have two musical groups that will play. It s a very low-key fund raiser. Tickets are $15 in advance. Ken A. said that if any of you want a project, he knows of a 1960 Corvette in pieces. It was originally black, it is now dark blue. He was told it is supposed to be a Correct Block car, if not original. He will check it out next week. The owner is asking $20k. Last Saturday was a mini NCRS event down in San Leandrdo. They had two 1963 red fullies, one convertible and one coupe. Both really nice cars. Interesting that they were both red fullies. One of the guys just bought a 1963 Z06 and is working on that. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, January 10 th, 2018, in the Margaret Todd Senior Center at 7:00 pm. Sandy announced that there will be a raffle after the meeting. Respectfully Submitted, Steve Boyer, Secretary The answer to Bill s Brain Teaser: Jeans.

President s Report December was busy with the tree cutting, meeting, Christmas dinner and the Occidental run on Christmas Eve day. As usual, Jane s goodies were great. I was forced to check them all out several times to make sure they were good enough for our club members. They were! Our Christmas Dinner at Inn Marin was also great. The dinner was excellent and of course the gift exchange was a lot of fun. Also, the Member of the Year Award was given out, and Eric, our Member at Large gave it to me. I have been a member of North Bay for 39 years, and have loved every moment of it. To be voted as Member of the Year is quite an honor for me. Thank you all and I will continue to do the best I can for the club. We did not attend the Occidental run because we were in Phoenix, but I m sure it was great. Kevin has put out a request for members to join him on a run to Bodega Bay on New Year s Day. I hope several members join him. Next up is the WSCC Awards dinner in Stockton on the 13 th, followed the next weekend by our White Elephant party at Dan & Corky s, always a good time. I have just given Barbara some info on a possible joint social with our local chapter of the NCRS which they are looking forward to. Barbara has already got ideas for socials for most of the year, so stay tuned for some guaranteed good times. I have sent s to both Hooked On Driving and Track Masters in regards to possible autocross sites and dates. Keeping my fingers crossed. Happy New Year to all, and let s make 2018 the best year ever. Save the wave Ken Public Relations: Hi gang, hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year s, the Christmas dinner party was lots of fun! Congrats to Christine ANDERSON and Art Appling for winning the WARRIOR'S raffle tickets, its Arts second time in a row as a winner, we ll have fun for sure! And Congrats to NORA FARBER for getting BILL COX'S BIRD HOUSE present it went all around the room! Well I got a new advertiser for this year, CALIFORNIA TIRES&WHEELS in San Anselmo, they'll give us great discounts on all tires & wheels, they have some nice rims, and they carry all RACE TIRES! So let s stop in and say hi and get some deals, just tell them you re from NBCA! Then I was thinking how come ROUND TABLE PIZZA isn't our sponsor or advertiser all the business we give them, so I'm all over them the 1st of this month! Well that's it for now, Life Is Good! 12 Mazda ends Laguna Seca naming rights relationship Wednesday, 20 December 2017 By Marshall Pruett / Image by Michael Levitt/LAT March 31, 2018, will serve as the final day to use "Mazda Raceway Laguna" as the official name of the legendary road course located in Monterey, California. In a relationship dating back to the 2001 season, the sponsorship between Laguna Seca and Mazda went to the extraordinary lengths of renaming the circuit Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with Monterey County. Despite the awkward timing of April Fool's Day, the 2.2-mile track and surrounding property will revert to Laguna Seca, which sprang to life in "Mazda's been a great partner for 17 years, and everything they've brought to the track has been amazing," Steve Fields, the track's executive director of corporate development, told RACER. "This has been an expected transition, and we've been working to prepare for it in advance." Mazda public relations director Jeremy Barnes says the decision to cease its sponsorship of Laguna Seca came after great deliberation. "It was a very hard decision to make after 17 wonderful years of supporting a very special racing facility," he said. "We regularly evaluate all of our marketing programs, both from a spend and a marketing basis, and with this, we made the decision it was time to move onto other opportunities. It's not one we made hastily, and we wish all the best to our friends who manage the track, to Monterey County, and all the race fans who adore the venue." The upcoming return to "Laguna Seca" coincides with a welcome restoration in the partnership between the county and SCRAMP, the first and only stewards of the circuit since its formation 60 years ago. Ongoing upgrades to the aged facility continue to modernize the park that houses the 11-turn track, and with a chance to seek new corporate involvement next year, Fields is confident the April 1 changeover will have a positive outcome. "What it means to us is that we have the opportunity to reconnect with longtime fans who still call us 'Laguna Seca,'" he added. "And it lets us go back to the table with the suitors who've come to us over the years and an opportunity to expand what we can do with the other auto manufacturers."

OUTGOING SOCIAL DIRECTOR Sandy Frank I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. The Franks were blessed with a happy house full of family and friends, lots of presents and way too much food. I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you one more time to everyone that helped make 2017 a fun year for NBCA. I m looking forward to the New Year and can t wait to see what our new Social Director has planned. Barbara B. has some great ideas and I know we re in for some good times. This year I was unable to attend the Christmas Banquet but understand a good time was had by all. Forty five members attended the festivities at Inn Marin which won points for having good food and being centrally located. Everyone enjoyed the slide show of NBCA events including the clubs participation in the Veteran s Day Parade in Petaluma. Of course the first question I asked was who won the birdhouse. This year that honor went to Jeff and Nora. Congratulations! The last event of 2017 was the annual Breakfast Run to Howard Street Café in Occidental on Christmas Eve Morning. There were six Corvettes and one Tin Lizzie. Thirteen of us had our Christmas shopping done and gifts wrapped so we showed up to followed Les on a beautiful drive from Petaluma to Occidental. Les has been leading this run for several years. It s become a tradition and we re going to miss him when he moves to Arizona. Don t forget about the White Elephant Party. 4 o clock, January 20 th at the Divita s in Healdsburg. Also Bill Donnelly will be hosting his annual Super Bowl Party on February 4 th in Sonoma. Time to be announced. Please bring hors d oeuvres to each event. Happy New Year! (JOHNNY DEPP HAS A BIG COLLECTION OF WHAT?)Put on another page...barbie DOLLS

The Long Ride Home I had another great summer playing with my friends at EMCC. For the most part the weather was good with few rain days. Between Corvetting around, visiting cemeteries for ancestors and seeing old friends it was a great month of September. It only took me three days to get back to California this year. As I am want to do, I left on a Saturday, September 30 th to be exact. Around 6:30 a.m. My route was simple; Mass Turnpike to I84 to Scranton, PA. Then I hooked back up with I80 for the rest of the trip for a total of 3,090 miles (43 hours driving time, no stops included.) Day 1: 1008 miles from Needham, MA to Morris, IL. I made better time than expected; no commute traffic and good weather were contributing factors. I stopped three time for gas: Montague NJ (228 mi,) Austintown OH (366 mi,) and Gary IN (368 mi.) I spent my first night in a Super 8. Day 2: 813 miles from Morris, IL to Sidney, NE with two stops for gas: Altoona, IA (277 mi.) and Wood River, NE (297 mi.) It was an uneventful day with nominal traffic. Day 3: 1,262 miles from Sidney, NE to Novato, CA. This started out to be The Day from Hell! It was snowing when I left Sidney, NE heading west on I80. The highest point on I80 is the summit between Cheyenne and Laramie, WY where there is a statue of Abraham Lincoln. The speed limit is usually 70 mph on this stretch of road today it was 45. It was about 27 degrees and there was nothing I could do but push on. The photo above was taken at Rawlins, WY where I stopped at McDonalds. I am running on Bridgestone tires and have not seen any ill effects for driving below freezing. I ran into a little more snow in Utah but it didn t amount to anything. I planned on stopping in NV but felt strong so I drove on. I planned on stopping at Boomtown, NV just before California but still felt strong. At this point I was about 200 mile out and didn t want to face the morning commute through Sacramento so I decided to drive home. On Day 3 I stopped for gas 5 times; Cheyenne, WY (95 mi.), Evanston, WY (360 mi.), West Wendover, NV (204 mi.), (Winnemucca, NV (234 mi.), and Fernley, NV (131 mi.) I arrived safely at home some twenty hours after I started, ready for bed. (I used google maps and my credit card receipts to recreate my trip.) See you all next year! Rooster Brown

New Years Day Corvette Clam Chowder Run Let me first apologize - I came up with this idea two days before New Years Day - and I didn't have everyone's - so lots of you didn't get the notice - (sorry Eric). But those who made it - Kevin & Betty - Neil & Robin - Jane - Tim & Joan Christensen - Mike & Beverly - Nick & Karyn - Les - Dan & his visiting grandson Evan - all appeared to have a great time! (Nick & Karyn had to bring Nick's new Chevy truck as Karyn's Corvette blew the clutch the night before - and Les came with them as he's in need of a new battery for his Grand Sport). We met at the Lowe's Store in Cotati and left from there promptly at 10AM. We proceeded on Hwy 116 through Sebastopol then onto the coast. About 45 minutes later we arrived at our destination - Fisherman's Cove - on Bay Flat Rd. We ordered clam chowder and/or crab sandwiches or fish and chips or whatever fit our fancy. Some of us ate outside in the beautiful sunshine and some elected to be indoors. The sky was blue and the sun was a shining as you can see in the photos! Just a beautiful day! And did we time it right - after a few more photos, we left and saw a line a block long for the food! And traffic was coming to the coast as we were leaving - perfect! We came back a different way through Valley Ford and all was good. Most everyone split up near Petaluma. Betty & I arrived home and put the Corvette into the garage - it was 1:10PM! Now to relax. Great Run - Great Weather - Great Friends - Great Corvettes - Great Day! (And there was talk this could turn into an annual New Years Day event - maybe!) Kevin McKinnie
