North Bay Corvette Association General Meeting Minutes March 14, 2018 President: Ken Albers called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm and requested officer s reports. Membership Director: Barbara Boyer reported: All of the new name badges have been picked up from Halls. She passed out more membership cards to a few members that were not at the last meeting. Secretary: Steve Boyer reported that the minutes from last month s meeting were published in last month s newsletter. He asked for questions, comments, criticisms or complaints. Neil moved to approve the minutes as published in the newsletter. The motion was seconded by Jane and approved by all. Director of Publications: Heather Torres was not able to be present, but Jane reported: The deadline for the next newsletter should be Friday, March 30 th. Heather needs a business card from Mountain Mike s to put in the newsletter. Bill asked Heather to get with him for the jacket request to turn into Fox Fabrique. Webmaster: Stephen Buttrick was not able to be present. Public Relations Director: Bill Donnelly reported: Bill said that we have a surprise advertiser to speak to us tonight. He will introduce that person at the end of the meeting. Bill gave Jeff two checks; one for $100 from Steve Horgan s R&R Transmissions, and a $300 check from J28 Design. He has the letters and brochures to give the two sponsoring Chevrolet dealerships (Sonoma Chevrolet and Novato Chevrolet) to give to people who purchase a Corvette from them. It congratulates the people for purchasing a Corvette and offers them a one-year free membership in NBCA. After our meeting, we will go to Mountain Mike s Pizza tonight. They are a new advertiser. Next month, we will go to Round Table Pizza after our meeting, as they are a new advertiser as well. We will alternate between going to each of the two places after our meetings. Bill gave Jeff a receipt from Staples for printing the newsletter for advertisers. He had two extra copies of the newsletter to give out to anyone that wants them. Bill s Brain Teaser: How many people have fallen out of flying airplanes without a parachute and survived? Member at Large: Eric L. reported: If you have taken any pictures of our events, please forward them to him. Treasurer: Jeff Farber reported: He presented the financials:

There were three bank deposits; one from Appling Insurance, one from Sonoma Chevrolet, one for dues from our newest members, and raffle income from last month. There were five payments; one to Mountain Mike s Pizza for liquid refreshments after last month s meeting, we paid WSCC for dues for two members, reimbursed Heather for the newsletter printing, and a reimbursement payment to Jane for our member of the year prize. Our bank balance increased by over $ this last month. We still have a very good bank balance. Social Director: Barbara Brabo reported: She is looking forward to seeing us all at her house for St. Patties Day on March 17 th. Steve Jackson is heading up a drive to the event. Check out the flyer in last month s newsletter for more details. On Sunday, April 22 nd, we will be going to the Rosie the Riveter Museum in Richmond. We may go to the Red Oak liberty ship beforehand if it is open after all the repairs are finished. We will have lunch in a restaurant next to the museum. Rosie the Riveter is a symbol of the women that took over the jobs in the factories during World War II (while the men were off fighting the war), so that the country could make the planes, trucks and ships needed in the war. We have had a few ladies ride with us in the Petaluma Veterans Day Parade, Vets in Vettes. March 12 th is Rosie the Riveter Day. Our next social event, May 12 th, will be a trip to Kelseyville to the Boatique Winery. We ll meet with members of the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) in Napa and drive up from there. The winery has lots of wooden boats that are gorgeous, like mahogany Chris-Craft runabouts from the 1940 s. She passed around sign-up sheets for both of those events. Sunshine Report: Lynn L. had nothing to report. Dan said that it was nice to see Dennis with two legs again. Glad to see your bi-lateral knee replacement is healing and you can walk again. Vice President: Dan Divita reported: Our first autocross that we are putting on will be Sunday, April 15 th. We need people to be there on Sunday morning at 8:00 am for registration. He knows that Les, Eric and Steve J. will not be there, so we need bodies to take their places. Neil will plan the course. It will be set up on Friday night. Dan, Neil, Ken, Peter, Bill, Steve and Barbara will all be there to help set up. We have one more meeting before then. Only Corvettes will run at this first autocross. A written agreement with Delta Corvettes will not be signed. They will cooperate with us like they have in the past; a verbal agreement only. It should be the same parking lot that we utilized the last time we were able to run there. Jeff was not sure that he would set up the computer registration. Jane will be there. Registration starts at 8:00 am. The timing lights will be set up at 7:00 am. Ken has not been able to confirm whether or not we will be able to share the Sonoma Raceway parking lot with Track Masters this year. Ken will continue to try to contact the appropriate people. President: Ken Albers reported: The National Corvette Museum puts on Museum in Motion all over the country. Buzz Marston, the WSCC President, is working on getting them to do one out here in northern California. What he wants is to have it start after the Laguna Seca races (September 7 9) and the day after the Track Day and Taste of the Track with Hooked on Driving (Monday, September 10 th ). Starting Tuesday, September 11, they would lead everyone down the 17-mile drive, stop to see the Cannepa Car Collection, drive around and through Santa Crus, Natural Bridges, and Half-Moon Bay spend the night in a couple hotels. Day two: drive the Great Highway, through the Presidio

of San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge, through Stinson Beach to Mendocino and a couple hotels. People can take the Skunk Train in Fort Bragg if they want and sight see. They would then go to Lakeport, do some wineries, then to Thunder Hill Raceway for parade laps. They would spend the night in Willows. The next day, Friday, go to Old Town, the railroad museum, Sutter s Fort and then spend the night in Sacramento. Day five, they would go to the Jelly Belly factory, Winchester Mystery House, Black Hawk, then back to Los Altos. It s mostly for people not from this area. It s more for people from out of town or from southern California. The registration fee will include the cost of the hotels and some meals at restaurants. The NCM will decide if they will actually do the run or not and make the final arraignments and decisions on how many places are actually visited. The Museum staff will put it all together. They will arrange for the restaurants and hotels for the group to utilize. Save the dates. It will probably be limited to 50 cars or so. Old Business: There was no old business. New Business: This Saturday, meet at Novato Chevrolet and Steve J. will lead us from there to Barbara Brabo s house for St. Pattie s Day corned beef and cabbage. Adam, a manager at Novato Chevrolet, was invited to attend with his Corvette. Bill wanted the picture taken at Novato Chevrolet to be utilized in their full page add in our newsletter. Helen Landis from WSCC said that the officers of the organization may come to one of our meetings. Announcements: Bill announced that Poker Faces will be at his house the last Thursday of the month, March 29 nd, at 7:00 pm. Ken Albers announced that they are trying to get more signatures on petitions to try to get the gas tax repealed and also repeal the taxes on vehicle registration. Neil moved that the club purchase the liquid refreshments after the meeting. Eric Larson seconded the motion which was approved by all. Ken said that he knows of a mild street rod, a 1949 Chevy coupe, with a later 235 with two one-barrels, all synchro three speed, decent paint job and interior for $16,500, a pretty good price. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, April 11 th, in the Margaret Todd Senior Center at 7:00 pm. Jeff Farber gave a short presentation to the members of the club of what his company is and why they decided to advertise with the club. AB Communications is an answering service which was started by his father in They provide answering services to primarily medical doctors offices and property management companies. They currently have several of the University of California System campuses and medical centers. If you are a smaller owner of apartment complex, they can answer emergency calls and let you sleep. Jane moved to adjourn the meeting. Neil Anderson seconded the motion which passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 pm. Respectfully Submitted, Steve Boyer, Secretary The answer to Bill s Brain Teaser: 157!

President s Report The big news for this month is our autocrosses. Our three at Solano College are all lined up to go, starting on April 14/15, but we now have another one in the works for Sonoma Raceway. (Sears Pt to most of us). I have talked to Doug Gale of TrackMasters and he has agreed to let us have an autocross in the pit area like last year, on Sunday, May 6 th. The E-board has voted to go ahead with this, so we just have to sign the paperwork, and Neil is already working on the flyer. This will be a Type II and so non-corvettes are encouraged to come out and have some fun. Back to our first autocross on April 15 th, we will need club members to help put this on. Registration will open at 8am, so we need folks by then and most of the day. Bring chairs as you won t be working all day, but we never know when we will need help, especially with clean up. Friday afternoon will be set up, so we need a few volunteers at that time also. Remember, these autocrosses are our money makers so that the club can put on some of our events, so if you enjoy our social events, then we need your help. I m really sorry that we missed the St. Patrick s Day dinner at the Brabo s. I heard it was great. No surprise there when we have our own world famous chef, well maybe not quite that famous, in Chef Barbara. We were attending a memorial for my 89 year old aunt. The good side of that was that I got to see some of my cousins that I grew up with who I haven t seen in way too many years. Rumor has it that we may have to change the name of the club to North Bay Corvette and Boat Club. First, Mike bought a 28 cigarette type boat, then Bill bought a 24 and now Eric has just purchased a 28 also. Maybe we can set up a boatcross? This is still a long way off, but are you are thinking of joining the caravan to the National Corvette Museum next year? The Northern California group, lead by Don Herzer, will leave about Aug. 26, 2019 and probably take 5 days to get there. The exact route including sights and hotels is not finalize yet but should be soon. This will be the 25 th Anniversary of the NCM, so there will be a lot of Corvettes and lots of events to participate in. If you are thinking of going, you will need to set aside about 2 weeks for the trip there and back, but if you wish to do some sightseeing, such as taking old Route 66 back, then you will need to add as much as another week onto that. But what better way to See the USA in your Chevrolet than taking back roads in your Corvette? We have done this twice and can t wait for the next one. Save the Wave, Ken

Public Relations: Hi gang, hope all is well with everyone, well I will give out congratulations letters to Novato & Sonoma Chevrolet for everyone that buys a corvette to get one year free membership to join NBCA, hope that gets us some new members think it will! Still have a few people yet to pay their advertising bills but take care of that this month. Wow adding another auto cross this year at SONOMA RACE WAY may 6th SWEET can't wait, hope you all can make it! Well that's it for now, Life is good! (The word JOURNEY is from the French meaning what?)... Bill D Treasurer s Report for Newsletter A brief year in review of collections for Our membership director worked pretty hard in January (actually Dan D I think) to get our membership dues collected. Now our Public Relations guru (Bill D) is hard at work collecting from our Sponsors and advertisers. A wise man told me that it is not fun to ask businesses for sponsorship and I agree. I wish to thank Bill D for this difficult job. Bill has a few more sponsors to collect from but we are well on our way to full collections by the end of April. Non-financial in nature but my family hosted our 23rd and final Easter Egg Hunt at Pioneer park in Novato. Hundreds of families turned out and your friends, Dan D, Jane R and Lori & Mike D came and helped out. We had a very nice time and the assistance of these NBCA members enabled the event to go off seamlessly. Thanks to you four volunteers and other NBCA members for their volunteer efforts. -Jeff Farber My Latest Corvette Club by Rooster Brown In December I joined Prescott Vette Sette Corvette Club in Prescott, AZ. Timing was right, and I was able to attend their Christmas Dinner. This past Tuesday, 27 April, I was able to attend my first meeting. Their monthly meetings are held at the local Chevy dealership, Lamb Chevrolet, where they have a huge upstairs meeting room. The club has 184 members and there were over fifty members at the meeting. The meetings, held the last Tuesday of the month, start at 5:15 in the summer. They go out for dinner afterwards, usually at a different restaurant each time. The club doesn t have a newsletter, but they do send out weekly s to keep the members informed of upcoming events. It appears to be a very active, older group of Corvetters. I look forward to adding them to my group of friends. Along with NBCA and EMCC, I have PVS to cover both coasts and somewhere in between.

Social Director:

TAKE YOUR MIND OFF INCOME TAXES THIS YEAR Income taxes are not due until Monday, April 16 th this year. Don t fret during the weekend worrying about them. Get your mind where it should be: driving your Corvette. But where? you ask. NORD FJORD 81 is the answer. See the flyer elsewhere in this newsletter for more details, but we d like to see a good turn-out from members. We know it s been awhile since our last A/X event, and some of you are a bit rusty, but here s your chance to exercise your car and have fun at the same time. We d also appreciate it if you could help provide assistance with making sure this event runs smoothly for everyone. If you can help on Sunday that would be great. If you can t help but just want to show up, that would be cool too. For maximum fun, make sure you take a few turns on the course. For new members, there will be familiarization and assistance available. If you wish, an experienced participant can accompany you on your run. Call me, Dan, (707) if you have questions. Hope to see you there! Brain Teaser: The distance one could walk in a day
