Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $ When Canada Post received the letter addressed to God, Canada, they decided to send it to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill. The Prime Minister thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy. The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to write a thank-you note to God, which read: Dear God, Thank you very much for sending the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Ottawa, and, as usual, they deducted $95.00 in taxes. 3 Message from the CEO While writing my last message for the newsletter I remarked in the opening how it was hard to believe Christmas was only two weeks away with the temperature outside at 10 degrees. In fact before participating in the mandatory turkey feast on Christmas Day I had a nice long bike ride in Centenial Park, which was another gloriously warm midwinter day. Now here we are at the end of February and it is 15 degrees, it is still hard to believe but nice to know I will likely be playing some golf sooner instead of later. Speaking of sports I want to recognize the Special Olympics Winter Games event that is going on in Coner Brook Newfoundland next week, March 1-6. MCRI has always had a very close association with the Moncton Chapter of Special Olympics. Over the years we have been very proud and supportive of all the athletes, coaches and volunteers. This program started in 1979 and our local chapter is one of the best supported and most successful in the country, so we continue to be very proud everyone involved. MCRI has several members participating this year in various sports. Joel St-Pierre is participating in curling; Veronique LeBlanc in speed skating; with Isaac Burrill, David Buckler and Peter Maxwell all on the floor hockey team. I have some found memories of playing practice games against the local floor hockey teams back in the 90 s when I was young enough to participate, they consistently put together a great team. So good luck to all the athletes representing NB. Luanne Rafferty, a long-time coach and volunteer is also going along to support the NB team. Luanne indicated that there will be updates on their Facebook page during the week-long event. Also you can access the official Winter Games website at If you are interested in sponsoring an athlete for this event or an upcoming one you will find ways of doing just that on either the NB FB page or the official website, or touch base with Luanne, I encourage you to provide some support if you can. Hopefully the warm weather will persist and we will all be outside enjoying an early spring by St. Patrick s Day. Have Fun Greg "Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow." Helen Keller

8 Dominion We ve enjoyed this winter season thus far, looking forward to an early spring predicted by the groundhog The youth have enjoyed sliding, snowshoeing, shoveling, making snowmen and snow angels. All the youth are looking forward to the March break and the various activities that they will participate in. Until next time Life is short smile while you still have teeth!! How is it that one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

9 Things have been stable with our program the last three months. Everyone seemed to have a good Holiday Season. Of course everyone is awaiting for spring to arrive with eager anticipation. We are working on the addition of a couple of new people in the program by summer time. Thank you to all the wonderful care providers that dedicate their lives to giving our people a wonderful family life. Until next time, please keep safe and have a great few months. If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?

10 Things were good at West Lane for the past few months. Everyone had a good holiday season. There have been no major changes and staff continue to do an excellent job. Thank you for your dedication and caring throughout the last year. Springtime will soon be upon us and we hope that you can enjoy the better weather. Have a wonderful Easter weekend. Until next time, stay safe and healthy. Interesting facts about Easter: -The earliest Easter eggs were hen or duck eggs decorated at home in bright colours with vegetable dye and charcoal. -The traditional act of painting eggs is called Pysanka. -The tallest chocolate Easter egg ever was made in Italy in At meters in height and 7,200 kg in weight, it was taller than a giraffe and heavier than an elephant! -The name Easter owes its origin from Eastre, the Anglo-Saxon goddess who symbolizes hare and egg. -In the old days pretzels were associated with Easter because the twists of the pretzel were thought to resemble arms crossing in prayer. -Americans buy more than 700 million marshmallow peeps during the Easter holiday, which makes Peeps the most popular non-chocolate Easter candy. -76% of people eat the ears on chocolate bunnies first. -90 million chocolate bunnies, 91.4 billion eggs and 700 million peeps are produced each year in the United States.
