A Letter from GSLPG: Dear Camper Parents and Guardians, GSLPG is gearing up for summer 2018! We want your daughter to Camp Like a G.I.R.L this summer at one of our GSLPG summer camps.

Girl Scout camp is a wonderful way to make new friends, experience new adventures, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

2 A Letter from GSLPG: Dear Camper Parents and Guardians, GSLPG is gearing up for summer 2018! We want your daughter to Camp Like a G.I.R.L this summer at one of our GSLPG summer camps. This summer, our council is excited to bring you quality outdoor experiences within a safe environment. Girls will gain the skills to become Go-Getters, Innovators, Risk Takers and Leaders. Girl Scout camp is a wonderful way to make new friends, experience new adventures, and create memories that will last a lifetime. The Girl Experience Team and all of our AMAZING Volunteer Summer Camp Teams have been working hard to ensure that girls will have the most incredible outdoor experience no matter what camp she has chosen. Parents who volunteer for the full week of their child s camp will be reimbursed for 50% of their camp fee for one child.

3 Camp Wawbansee BACK2BASICS4 Camp Wawbansee Deadline to Register: May 7 Register online at gslpg.org Camp Director: Sharlea Smith sharlea@suddenlink.net Check-In May 27, 2:00 p.m. Check-Out May 31, 2:00 p.m. Levels: Brownies-Ambassadors Fee: Camper $130 Maximum: 45 campers Program Aide $100 Minimum: 25 campers {Entering 8-12 grades} Campers stay active with traditions such as arts & crafts, swimming, canoeing, and archery while having a great time making new friends and reconnecting with old. At B2B4 2018, girls will experience basic survival skills such as shelter, water, fire, and food. Come ready to explore, discover and grow. Back2Basics is open to girls entering grades Mandatory training for volunteers and aides is Saturday, May 26, with check in 2:00 p.m. Aides are campers with leadership roles, open to girls entering 8-12 grades and are selected according to prior experience, certification and maturity. Girls may not be placed with their entire troop or adult volunteer; request can be made but not guaranteed. No tagalongs allowed. No bus transportation. That s right, a camp catering to our older Girl Scouts, juniors (entering 5th grade) and up. No need to be an Aide, so you ll have plenty of time to make new friends and let your light shine. Spend a week with friends old and new while enjoying canoeing, swimming, archery, crafts, outdoor skills, art and many other activities. Friday s Amazing Race will be a series of team challenges for our Amazing Campers to show the skills they ve learned during the week! Arnold the Armadillo can t wait to see the new skills, great fun, and Girl Scout spirit from his amazing campers! Make your plans to attend; sign up early as spots fill up fast. Ready, Set, Go!!! No tagalongs allowed. No bus transportation. Daisies will require an adult to volunteer with them for the week. Program Aid Requirements: 1 year camping experience, and finished 7th grade. Although badge work is not the focus of our camp, each camper will work on a particular badge for the week and other badges that she can finish with her troop at home. No tagalongs allowed. Bus transportation available from New Iberia Movie Theater for a $10 fee. Bus leaves at 8:00 a.m. and returns at 5:00 p.m. Program Aides Requirements: Program Aides are girls entering 7th grade and above. Program Aide training will be Friday, June 15 through Saturday, June 16 at Camp Bon Temps. Each girl must have an Adult volunteer at least one day at camp. Adults are not guaranteed to be placed or assigned with their camper when they volunteer at camp. Adults that will volunteer all 4 days will have a training on Tuesday, June 19 at 6 pm, in New Iberia.

At High Adventure Camp, you ll get to rock climb, zip line, run obstacle courses, and so much more! If getting out of your comfort zone sounds fun, then this is the camp for you! Not only will you gain outdoor skills and make new friends, you will discover more about who you are and how you can make a difference in the world around you. Traditional camp activities include campfire cooking, hiking, swimming, crafts, and games. There is also archery, a ropes course and a rock wall challenge (age restrictions apply). Adult volunteers are essential to help with the Units. The number of girls accepted depends on the number of volunteers. Mandatory training is Sunday, July 1st from 11-3pm for aides and volunteers. Girls are placed in Units by grade level but might not be with their Troop. Daughters will not be placed with a parent volunteer. All meals will be provided. No tagalongs allowed. How to Register: This year GSLPG will offer many ways to register for your favorite Summer Camp. Please DO NOT SEND Registrations to the Camp Directors. Online with a credit or debit card through our website gslpg.org/camp In Person at either our Shreveport or Lafayette Service Centers By mail at GSLPG, 1720 Kaliste Saloom Rd, Ste C1, Lafayette, LA Registration Forms are located on our website gslpg.org/camp Using Cookie Dough earned during the 2017 or 2018 Cookie Program Request Form is available on our website. Refund Policy: No refunds on camp fees will be given except in the case if illness of a camper, verified by written statement from a doctor, or death of an immediate family member. We Need You! Camps are run by volunteers and they need your help. Please contact the camp director to offer your assistance. As encouragement for parents to volunteer the entire length of the camp that their child is attending, and attend camp training, those parents will be reimbursed 50 percent of the camp s cost. The reimbursement will be in the form of a check from the camp team after the close of the camp. Reimbursement will only be made for one child. In the instance that both parents volunteer for the entire camp, they can get credit for one child s entire camp fee or 50 percent of two children s fee. Financial Assistance: Limited financial assistance is available for any girl attending camp. Assistance provided covers a poriton of the camp fee.
