At least we haven t had to deal with BIG SIR Message - Lou Figone lou.figone@gmail.com any hurricanes on our side of the country. Although the heat streak we had a few weeks ago was a new thing for this area. I am from San Jose and cannot remember it ever getting above 101 degrees, much less for 4 or 5 days in a row! I hope you have all been contacted about our survey by now. We are anxious to find out what you might suggest to help us make our SIRS program all that it may be. If you haven t been contacted, please call me at I m looking forward to seeing you all at our Octoberfest, co-celebrated with Br. 38, on October 10 th (free Beer & Dessert). Don t need a Computer Science Geek!What we need is someone with a reasonable level of computer literacy, an hour or so of time each month to keep it updated with the latest Grapevine, Roster changes, social activity notices, Officer/Director Notices/announcements, and anything else you have a mind to put on it. The content is largely driven by the Webmaster s imagination, with a great deal of leeway, and we have the software to make the job much easier than you might imagine. The BEC has agreed to double the salary for this position, including a pension of 50% of salary after 20 yrs. Call soon!!!! This opportunity could get snapped up quickly.

GM Tim Sutherland comes to us after 19 years as the GM at Watergate, a premier residential community of 1,249 homes in Emeryville, CA. Prior to his tenure at Watergate he had extensive experience in multi-unit food service and facilities management. In his own words: "I am delighted to have been selected as your GM. It is a privilege and high honor to join the Villages' family. My commitment and promise to all Villagers is to work alongside the team and in the community respectfully, diligently, compassionately and enthusiastically in service to all. I have been very fortunate to have been part of the wonderful team at the Watergate Community Association in Emeryville. Since I truly enjoyed my work, community and employees, I had not seriously entertained the thought of leaving my current leadership position until I learned of the open position at the Villages. After much thought and reflection, I decided to throw my hat in the ring for one simple reason; the people that I met who live and work at the Villages. A few years ago, I had the pleasure of spending time onsite with many of the current senior management team members. It was crystal clear to me then and now, the Villages Golf and Country Club management team loves what they do and the community they serve. Over the course of three days, I had an opportunity to meet many wonderful community leaders, residents, management, field staff and vendors all sharing a similar focus, sense of family, community spirit, respect and compassion for one another. It was a pleasure observing so many of the Villager's enjoying the vast array of amenities, clubs, activities and social events throughout the well-maintained grounds and facilities in a world class resort environment. That s why I put out our Ninth Seat sign at tables where any member can sit and get to know the SIR at that table. New members will be wearing a colored badge so you can more easily recognize them. Please welcome them to any open seat at your table so they will feel comfortable in joining and staying in our SIR brotherhood. Suggestions should be submitted to Jeff. Greeting your Tablemates: I would urge you all to start your lunch by looking around your table and, if there is any person sitting with you that you have not met before, PLEASE introduce yourself and your tablemates to the new guy. We organize these luncheons around a speaker and his presentation, but the bottom line on what we get from our attendance is the opportunity to fraternize with our fellow Villagers, to enjoy the comradery of like- minded individuals, to share experiences. Please don t overlook that part of the benefit of membership. Thank you. If so, the decision to change Branches must only be made by the member himself, without any interference or pressure by you. It s clearer if someone moves to the Villages as there is often a good reason to change Branches due to locality. But please keep this in mind and check it out when you first contact a person: do you currently belong to SIR?

Unbiased neutral observers noticed a distinct favoritism by the officials, but superior talent should be able to overcome such manipulation and not skewer the end result. We have the beginnings of a team but a full team of eight to play the other SIR branches chosen from the best players in a bigger pool of SIR 114 players would be great.
