3 Cruise itinerary DAY 1 - SUN, APRIL 14 Arrival in Budapest Welcome to Budapest! You will be met and transferred from the airport to your Emerald Waterways luxury river cruise ship. After boarding, enjoy some time at your leisure to explore Budapest. This evening, join your fellow travellers for a traditional Hungarian dinner. Later, enjoy a Hungarian folk dancing and music performance on board. Emerald PLUS: Traditional Hungarian Folklore Show & Budapest Evening Cruise Meals included: Dinner DAY 2 - MON, APRIL 15 Budapest Budapest is Eastern Europe s liveliest and most cosmopolitan city. Enjoy a guided tour of the city sights including the Hungarian Parliament Building, the Buda Castle and the Chain Bridge linking Buda and Pest or an exciting hike on the Buda Hill. Emerald ACTIVE: A guided active walk to Buda Hill DAY 3 - TUES, APRIL 16 Vienna Today, you have a choice of either exploring Austria s capital beginning with a drive along the Ringstrasse, where we will see the sights of Vienna s world famous attractions such as the Opera House, Burgtheater, Spanish Riding School, Town Hall, St. Stephen s Cathedral and the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Alternatively, join the guided bike tour instead of the drive around and guided walk. Then, you will have free time to sample the wonderful tastes of Vienna. Emerald ACTIVE: Guided bike Tour DAY 4 - WED, APRIL 17 Vienna Today you will have the day at leisure to continue exploring Austria capital city. Discover MORE: Tour to Bratislava (extra expense) AND / OR Discover MORE: Exclusive Viennese concert with music from Mozart and Strauss (extra expense) DAY 5 - THURS, APRIL 18 Dürnstein Melk In the morning we arrive in Dürnstein, one of the most enchanting villages of the Wachau wine region. This is the site of the castle where Richard the Lionheart was imprisoned after returning from the crusades in the 12th century. Thereafter, you will drive through the picturesque landscape of this district to the 900 year old Benedictine Abbey of Melk, which features Austria s finest Italian baroque architecture. Emerald ACTIVE: A guided biking tour along the Danube River from Melk to Dürnstein OR Emerald ACTIVE: Guided hike to Dürnstein Castle DAY 6 - FRI, APRIL 19 Linz Linz, the European capital of culture in 2009 is a lively, modern city with long and eventful history, reflected in the architecture of the city centre with its unique Baroque Hauptplatz. After your tour, you will have time to stroll through the marvelous old quarter of the city or sit in a typical Austrian Coffee House to taste some local specialties. DAY 7 - SAT, APRIL 20 Passau Cobblestone streets and graceful arcades welcome you in the beautiful city of Passau. On this morning s walking tour, stroll through the old town s narrow alleys and see the hilltop Oberhaus Fortress from the town below. Visit St. Stephen s Cathedral, a wonderful example of Baroque architecture and home to Europe s largest church organ with more than 17,000 pipes. EmeraldACTIVE: Guided hike near Passau DAY 8 - SUN, APRIL 21 Passau Disembarkation Munich After breakfast, it is time to farewell your fellow passengers and disembark the ship for your transfer to Munich Airport. THE TERRACE With a panoramic view, The Terrace at the ship s bow, is a beautiful setting for fair-weather outdoor dining. Watch the sunrise, with your morning breakfast, or grab a cafe-style lunch from your choice of pastas, soups, salads and sandwiches. On select days, find the chef firing up the barbeque on the Sun Deck for a fantastic grilled feast.
