Trip/Social Reports: Gavin s Lorne day drive was very well attended with 20 vehicles and 44 people enjoying a beautiful day. We visited several lookouts and a great little waterfall before stopping for lunch at the Macadamia Farm. 5 Banda Newsletter Page 5 Events Committee Report (Upcoming events): Saturday 8 th April 2017 Sunday 23 rd April 2017 Gavin is running a 2 week trip following the QLD / NSW border between Tweed Heads and Mungindi. This trip essentially follows the wiggly part of the border. Areas we will be visiting will include Lamington National Park, Mt Warning, Border Ranges National Park, Lions Road, Bald Rock National Park, Sundown National Park, 1 Ton Post + heaps more. Trip will be grade 2 with campers and up to grade 4 (day trips without campers). Combination of caravan park and bush camping. Total trip distance around 2000kms. Maximum of 10 vehicles. Contact Gavin on or gavjan1@gmail.com for more info. TRIP FULL Friday 18th Aug Clarence River Camp oven Weekend The Clarence Valley Camp Oven Festival is a feast for the senses! The tastes, the smells, the sights, the sounds...the wonderful feeling of sitting around a camp fire with good food, good people and good yarns. A celebration of the wonderful Aussie outdoor lifestyle, a love of and care for the natural environment, and good old fashioned family fun. Come along and enjoy great music, camp oven demonstrations and competitions, bush poetry, the Saturday Night Bush Dance, markets, dog trials, lots of kids activities and more. Camping and cabin accommodation available, open campfires permitted. Contact Dave Walters Sat 10 th Jun XMAS in JUNE (June long weekend) at Brett and Gemma s property. The club is providing the food as cooked by club members in campovens. Raffle prizes will be on offer. Contact James Griffin Christmas period 2017 Gavin is running a 5-week degustation tour of Tasmania departing Sunday 17 th December. Maximum of 8 vehicles. Contact Gavin on gavjan1@gmail.com or for details. TRIP FULL Afternoon Drive to Lime Kilns at Kundabung Sun 2 nd Apr. Departure from the donut at 11:30am heading towards Telepoint Pub for lunch. The trip will come out at Dondingalong, grade will be normal 2wd with some 4wd required. Contact Dave Walters Easter Thu at Apsley falls Tamworth club doing a trip around the area for four nights. Numbers are required, the only cost will be the camping at Apsley for one night. Areas to visit include Brushy Mountain, Plateau Beach, Moorabach with camping on the Fordes River on the way back. Trip Gradings 1. Scenic drive, little or no 4WDing. 2. Scenic with plenty of basic, easy 4WDing and some tricky sections. 3. Medium 4WDing on well used trails with little or no overgrowth. 4. Medium 4WDing on little used and overgrown trails. 5. Difficult hands on 4WDing. Recovery gear essential. Minimum Vehicle Requirements (AT ALL TIMES) Vehicles must be fitted with a UHF CB radio. Vehicles must carry a snatch strap. Rated D shackles must be carried. Tow hooks must be fitted front and rear

11 Banda Newsletter Page 11 Australian Chainsaw Carving Championships Skills with a Stihl Robert Pike was kind enough to share the below information regarding the Australian Chainsaw Carving Championships that were held in January 2017 in Victoria. Congratulations to all the carvers from the Australian Chainsaw Carving Championships! They have produced some amazing masterpieces over 5 days at Sky-high Mount Dandenong! 1st place Rob Bast (VIC) with "Man from Snowy River" 2nd place Jeff Samudosky (USA) with "The Dance" Blue Ringed Octopuses. 3rd place Hikaru Kodama (JPN) "Aboriginal Family" The People's Choice award went to Robby Bast.
