1 d ec em b e r M E S S A G E F R OM THE PRES IDENT I would like to say thank you to everyone for your support, the fun, the laughs, and the friendships we have made over this past year and I look forward to the 2018 year with our antique tractor club being another productive one. We have many projects our club would like to accomplish and just as many opinions as to what project should be next. The Land & Building committee is working to sort out these ideas and work toward adding the next step as we continue to move forward with growing our club. Please feel welcome to come to the committee meetings and help out with sorting out our path forward. If you are unable to come to the meetings, please feel free to give me a call, or , and I will share your ideas with the committee. I wish everyone a Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you at the upcoming meetings and events as we continue to make good memories together. Pam December Meeting Highlights The December banquet was held at Jeff s Catering in Brewer with 72 members present. A big thank you to Jeff s Catering for another amazing meal. Thank you to Jay & Jane Fowler for their help in the planning of the banquet and taking charge in the RSVPs. It s that time of year again when 2018 memberships are due. There are forms available on our website and in the upcoming newsletters. A reminder when filling out the membership form, the spouse/other line is for a spouse or significant other only; a sibling, parent, cousin, etc., cannot be covered under your membership, they will need to have their own membership. Also, insurance is $15 per person insured. A thank you card was read from the Monmouth Museum for the use of the barrel train at the Apple Fest. A thank you card was also read from Debbie Rivard for the fruit basket and we are very glad she is starting to feel better. The Coliseum now has 6 campers under it for winter storage, bringing in a profit of $1450, with room for 1 more camper. The Agricultural Trade Show in Augusta is January 9, 10, 11, if you would like to help man the MATC booth and are not signed up yet please let myself or Pam know. Warren Nuite donated $300 in the honor of Clyde Wishart who passed away. A moment of silence was held for Don Stevens and Weldon Humphrey who both recently passed. The Secretary and Treasurer s reports were read and accepted. Pam received a call from Marilyn Hatch who would like to donate a couple of pieces of equipment to the club. They are going to be looked at. TREASURER S REPORT The 2018 meeting schedule is out. Election of officers took place at the banquet with results as follows: President: Pam Vaillancourt Vice President: Matt Hunter Treasurer: Evelyn Twist Secretary: Emily Folsom Board Member: John Hilton I personally want to thank everyone for your nomination for me as your Secretary and continued support. Mike Pratt thanked Pam for all that we as a club have accomplished under her presidency. The Volunteer of the Year award went to Joe Landry for all his hard work in the expansion of the clubhouse. Youth Puller of the Year went to Austin Dillingham for all the help he provided at the Lawn & Garden and Farm Tractor Pulls. Thank you both! Awards for the Top Puller and runners up for the Lawn & Garden and Farm Tractors were presented by Pam, Mike, and Chris. See you all in the new year & happy holidays! Our annual meeting auction received a profit for our club of about $990. We had a great banquet at Jeff s Catering and Events Center in Brewer with 73 members and guests present. Jeff and his staff out did themselves this year with the buffet, which included prime rib, bacon-wrapped chicken, seafood penne, and all the fixings. We placed all our current officers back into office for 2018 with the addition of John Hilton as a new board member, replacing Glen Dewitt, as Glen s 4-year term expired this year. Congratulations to Joe Landry on receiving the Volunteer of the Year award and to Austin Dillingham for receiving the Youth Puller of the Year award. Congratulations to all our Top Pullers and Runner-Up Pullers on a great 2017 pulling season. We thank everyone for the great items donated to the auction, your auction bids, and especially our awesome auctioneer, Fulton Oakes, who makes this a great time with many laughs. We had many door prize items donated and most everyone went home with one. A vote will take place at the January meeting as to where the 2018 annual meeting and banquet will be held. The restaurant next to the club house, Wentworth s Country Diner, has agreed to plow our meeting parking area out this winter as we have allowed their customers to park on our land. This is a win/win for both our club and the restaurant. We appreciate Dylan Wentworth and his staff for their continued support of the MATC and look forward to working together in the future. Our club has been offered the donation of a Farmall F-14 tractor and a Caterpillar bulldozer. These are located in Harrison, Maine. A discussion will take place to determine if we would like to accept this donation at the January meeting. Bill Clark will be looking into options for the donation, as these two pieces are in very rough shape. A club member has mentioned a speaker system for our pulling coliseum and we will look into this as more information becomes available. We need to begin looking for our next raffle tractor as June will be here before we know it. The bathroom addition to the clubhouse was discussed and we will be working to see how to best handle this. We will also be looking to add more antique equipment demonstrations to our 2018 Tractor Festival as it is felt that spectators enjoy watching the equipment at work. The next Committee Meeting will be January 10, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. Everyone is welcome. Nov MATC Clubhouse 351 Waterville Road, Norridgewock Hosted by Joe & Irene Landry Dec Annual Banquet Jeff s Catering 15 Littlefield Way, Brewer Hosted by MATC Please be sure to confirm all dates and locations of our meeting, as changes can occur.
