Tickets are $ 7.00 and we are limited to 150 tickets so get yours early. Spiritual Life: 1/13, 3:00 PM in the Lemon/Lime Room. All-Faith Memorial Service. All residents are invited to join us for this annual service as we take time to remember and honor our residents and former residents who died during the year Archery Club Ice Cream Social/Card Bingo: 1/13, 6:00 PM in the Hall. Fishing Club Fish Fry-Not Community: The year-end fish fry is for members and a guest Sunday April 14 th 2019 in the front Hall at 1:00 PM 5:00 PM. We will eat at 1:30 PM. Please bring a dish to pass and set-ups, also BYOB. Tickets will be sold at our monthly meeting thru March 15 th There will only be 200 tickets sold. Tickets are $ 4.00 for members and $5.00 for guest. A sign-up sheet will be at each meeting so you can write down what dish you are bringing. MONDAY Woodcrafters Ice Cream Social/Card Bingo: 1/7, 6:00 PM in the Hall Tickets on sale thru 1/7 and at the door. Proudly serving Publix ice cream with peanut bits, chocolate and caramel syrup, whipped cream, chocolate and vanilla, mint chocolate and royal fudge. Sugar free ice cream. 50/50 prizes awarded. Tickets are $ 4.00 with $ 1.00 towards Bingo or $5.00 at the door. Archery Club General Meeting: 1/7, 11:00 AM in the Lemon/Lime Room. All Archers are encouraged to attend and new members always welcome. Laughter Yoga: 1/14, 9:00 AM down by the pool. Laughter is great for our Bodies and Souls. Katie Devlin, licensed Yoga instructor will lead the group. Hope to see you for some laughter in the sun! Maintenance Day: 1/14, Clubhouse will be closed all day. Library, Fitness Center, Fine Arts, and Billiard Rooms open to residents. No set ups will be made. SOLOS: Stetson Mansion is spectacular at Christmas. Tour the mansion with us January 14, The mansion is 2 stories. Some steps, no elevator. We will carpool to Cook s Restaurant, on your own at 12 Noon in Deland for lunch then proceed to the mansion for a 1:30 guided tour which takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Checks $27.00 per person payable to Hannah McCauley no later than 5:00 PM on 12/10.$5.00 to driver on day of trip. Contact Hannah McCauley with questions. Leave the flagpole at 10:30 AM sharp. TUESDAY Men s Home Softball Game Div-3: 1/8, 9:30 AM against Spruce Creek. Come on down to cheer us on Men s Home Softball Game Div-5: 1/8, 11:00 AM against Del Webb. Come on down to cheer us on Collector s Club: 1/8, 1: 00 PM in the Museum Conference Room. Date change due to New Year s Day being the first Tuesday of the month. We will meet to discuss our project to collect children s books. Bring an item to share. Pickleball Meeting: 1/8, 1:00 PM in the Lemon/Lime Room. Come join us! The dinner to honor those who were born in 1938 or married in This event was started by Colonial Penn and been carried on every year since. In order to be honored you must let the Program Office know the date of your Birthday or Anniversary. (If you have already done so we have you on the Page 2 of 5

3 list) All others who have reached these milestones are welcome at the dinner. Those to be honored need to buy their ticket and when they attend they will be reimbursed the $ The club has a nice Dinner and Entertainment. Hope to see you there. Come on down to cheer us on HRCA Documents Committee Meeting: 1/9, 1:00 PM in the Administration Conference Room. AARP Blood Drive: 1/9, The Blood Mobile will be at the Flagpole next to the Clubhouse from 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM to kick off our 2019 Blood Drive. Hawthorne donated a total of 77 units of blood in Each unit donated has the potential to impact 3 lives, so 231 people benefitted from our donations last year. The need for blood never goes away and is truly the Gift of Life. Our website has a link that will allow you to view the entire year s schedule and make an appointment for your donations, or you can just show up on January 9. Zentangle for Beginners: 1/16, 1:00 PM in the Fine Arts Room. Easy to learn how to draw structured patterns. Enjoy relaxing methods, enjoy increased focus, and create beautiful images. 3 hour class will get you started. Ginny is a certified instructor and has taught hundreds of folks. $5.00 material fee due at class. Sign-up at the Information Center by 1/7 deadline. THURSDAY Oil Painting Workshop: 1/10, 1:00 PM in the Fine Arts Room. My Quiet Place. Sign-up sheet is on the Information Center. Classy Ladies Wine & Cheese Party: 1/10, 12:00 Noon in the Hall. Sign up times is 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the Hospitality Room. These pictures will be taken in February. Pictorial Pictures: Pictures are coming in. Lucinda will be in the Hospitality Room during ticket sales every Monday so stop by and pick them up. Fine Arts: Fine Arts is sponsoring a trip to the Dali Museum in Tampa on February 28 th. The cost is $ Lunch on your own. Payment can be made on January 7 th at the meeting and on January 16 th at ticket sales. Detains on time will follow at a later date. Notice: Hawthorne Pictorial: Life Touch professional photography will be in Hawthorne February 4 th thru 16 th 2019 to take pictures. Life Touch does school portraits, church pictorials, and community pictorials. Having your portrait taken you will receive a free 8x10 and a pictorial book. Hawthorne pictorial is a great asset to all homes. It connects us with our community. You may purchase additional portraits on your own. Hopefully the book will be in by April Hawthorne Tour Notice: All new residents (and not so new). Please sign up at the Information Center for the Hawthorne Bus Tour on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 with the General Manger. Meet all of the supervisors and see where the water plant is, the head end, home services, fire station, and the Administrative Office. Brunch at 8:45, tour at 9:00 am. Have fun and learn more about the wonderful community you live in. The bus only holds 13 people so sign up early. Ohio Club: Desperate need of Officers for Ohio Club. Please notify Donna Hale for questions or interest. AARP Membership: It s time to renew or join our local AARP Chapter 1775, tickets on sale Wednesday mornings for the year $2 per person. Grandma s Closet: Do not drop off any medical supplies at either of the two sheds located behind the Pickleball courts. 5 Phone-Camera Tips If you have a camera on your phone and enjoy using it, you won t want to miss this upcoming Photo Club program. A short video on tips for using your phone camera will be shown on Tuesday, January 15, at 3:00 PM in the Lime Room. This presentation will guide you to better photos. All photo club meetings include an informal round-table chat, even though the actual tables are rectangular. Photography questions, experiences and suggestions for future programs are exchanged.
