Dec 7 Ticket Price: Directed by: Assistant Director: Produced by: 4p 10p Board Van by 4p $10.00 Cost of Play Taraleigh Casteen Connie Chapman Kathy Strozak The saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been squashed by family obligation and civic duty, whose guardian angel has to descent on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born that his has been, after all, a wonderful life. This faithful adaptation has all your favorite characters: George and Mary Hatch, Clarence, Uncle Billy, Violet, and, of course, the Scroogelike villain, Mr. Potter. This fine dramatization not only celebrates the faith of the season, it also celebrates the American philosophy of life: hard work, fair play and the love and support of one's family and community will be rewarded. The cost of dinner is the responsibility of each Encore member. The menus will be provided before trip and dinner will be ready when we arrive

3 3 Fitness, Wellness & Recreation CPR Class Christmas Chorus Travel Club Mission Statement: The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and generosity of donors CPR Class Thurs. Nov. 1 10:00a 12:00p Instructor: CPR Trainer from American Red Cross Location: Regional Workforce Development Center Room 218) This CPR course includes training and certifications for emergency such as heart attacks, cardiac arrest, strokes or choking. A wallet certification card is included with this class and is valid for 2 years. This class will give a comprehensive training for both community and workplace setting, and conforms to the AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and First Aid. The Encore Christmas Chorus Tues, Oct. 9 Instructors: Location: Center 11a-12p Paul and Marguerite Leathers Regional Workforce Development Who is interested in a test drive for Christmas Chorus from the Encore Learning Program. Paul and Marguerite Leathers are willing to test our voices during the Christmas season. Persons who interested need to bring a hymnal that include Christmas carols. Dates and times for the class will be setup after we meet on Oct.9, Travel Club Wed. Oct. 26, :30a 3:00p Tour starts at 10:30a From the site's pre-colonial existence to the present day, Windsor Castle tells the fascinating history of the development of Smithfield. * Tour of the Mahone s Tavern The historic streets of Smithfield, Virginia are rich with examples of architecture of by gone eras, like stepping back in time,. Stately federal homes, classic colonial structures, proud Georgian architecture, and colorful Victorian mansions pack the street corners with elegance and grace, their doorsteps rich with Virginia history. The cost of lunch is the responsibility of each Encore member. The menus will be provided before trip and lunch will be ready when we arrive. Tour to Mahone's Tavern and Museum in Courtland, VA Nov. 9, Board Van by 1p and Tour starts at 2p Located on Main Street in Courtland, Virginia, it is one of the oldest houses in Southampton County. Throughout most of its history, the building has operated as a tavern or hotel. Known variously as Kello s Tavern and Howard s Hotel, the house is generally remembered today as the old Mahone s Tavern, named after one of its earlier proprietors, Fielding J. Mahone

Please meet at the event by 9:30p for tour at 10:00. I will meet you there but will have to leave early for an event at the Work force Center. We will be celebrating the Cheroenhaka Indian Tribe corn harvest (KE- TO-OK-NEY). Governor s Mansion Tour Tour of Governors Mansion Richmond, VA * Tour starts at 11a Wed. Dec. 12 9a 3p We will visit the Governors Mansion for a wonderful tour. The Virginia Governor's Mansion, better known as the Executive Mansion, is located in Richmond, Virginia, on Capitol Square and serves as the official residence of the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Designed by Alexander Parris, it is the oldest occupied governor's mansion in the United States. We will also visit some of the local historical places on our visit
