1 Enlightened, Excited and Energized for Our Associations Future Information about our host floral association: The Iowa Florists' Association represents the needs and interests of the floriculture industry in Iowa. Through marketing, research, education, and involvement in the legislative process we strive to protect the industry we love. Information about our host city: A flourishing center for arts and culture in Eastern Iowa, the city is home to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, the Paramount Theatre, Orchestra Iowa, Theatre Cedar Rapids, the African-American Historical Museum and Cultural Center of Iowa, the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance. In the 1990s and 2000s, several Cedar Rapidians became well-known actors, including Bobby Driscoll, Ashton Kutcher, Elijah Wood, and Ron Livingston. The city is the setting for the musical The Pajama Game and the comedy film Cedar Rapids. Cedar Rapids is nicknamed the "City of Five Seasons", for the "fifth season", which is time to enjoy the other four. The symbol of the five seasons is the Tree of Five Seasons sculpture in downtown along the north river bank. The name "Five Seasons" and representations of the sculpture appear throughout the city in many forms. Iowans understand the value of a hard day at the job, and that desire to unwind after it. From acres of Iowa grown grapes, to our unending bushels of corn straight from our fertile Midwestern soil, we put only the best into our wines and spirits nothing else will do. Using nature as our ultimate guide, we age our whiskeys in a non-temperature controlled climate and allow for Mother Nature to guide the way. 5 NAFA Scholarship Application 2018 NAFA $1,000 Scholarship Sponsored By: General Rules: This scholarship is available to any state florists association that is either 1st time state association participation in the conference OR an association who has not been at the meeting for the past 3 years with fewer than 75 members. Each applicant must compile a letter of intent to include association name, contact information, website information, and number of members. It must also include a statement on what you hope to gain by attending the meeting in regards to continued growth and sustainability of your state association. Letter must be received by August 13, 2018 to Adam Havrilla, NAFA President (Adam@ArtisticBloomsChicago.com) Please include state association logo that will be used in announcing recipients. The 3 recipients will be announced via facebook and website on August 22, The recipient of the scholarship will receive: 2018 NAFA dues, 2018 NAFA conference registration, 2 night hotel, and travel expenses up to $ NAFA representative will book your hotel accommodations. Travel Expenses will be reimbursed when you submit travel receipts. The scholarship must be used for the 2018 NAFA Conference.
