An Early Joke After being married for 40 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, Forty years ago we had a cheap house, a junk car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10 black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 23 year old girl. Now I have a $500,000 home, a $35,000 car, a nice big bed and large screen TV, but I m sleeping with a 63 year old woman. It seems to me, that you re not holding up your side of things. My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 23 year old girl and she would make sure that that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10 black and white TV. Aren t older woman great? They really know how to solve an old guy s problem... A senior citizen drove his brand new Holden Senator out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he pushed it to 120kph, enjoying the power of the car. Amazing, he thought as he flew down the M1, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a highway patrol car, blue lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 140kph, then 180kph, and then suddenly he thought, What am I doing? I m too old for this! and pulled over to await the coppers arrival. Pulling in behind him, the copper got out of his vehicle and walked up to the car. He looked at his watch, and then said, Sir, my shift ends in thirty minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a new reason for speeding a reason I ve never before heard I ll let you go. The old gentleman paused then said, Three years ago, my wife ran off with a policeman, I thought you were bringing her back. Have a good day, Sir, replied the copper. 3

Carried. SHOW REPORTS President Bill reported that no club members went to Boats Afloat due to the weather with Sunday being boats only. Craig, Wayne and Darrell Stuart were rained out at Central Coast, with low numbers of exhibits and visitors. Bob Beggs said Bill Onley s unrestored Bantam motorcycle was the biggest draw card for Steamfest, as every second person seemed to have had one just like it when they were younger. Bill Onley said we did the club proud with lots of displays and everyone had a great time at Steamfest. Kevin Pearce said the Bendemeer Fergie Muster was very well set up with 165 Fergies and 65 Landies in attendance. Tim Longworth recommended the Poets Breakfast on Sunday morning. SAFETY OFFICER S REPORT Peter Draper reminded members that: * any tractors outside of a compound must have wheel chocks and * only NHMA members are allowed in compounds. At Steamfest some people ducked under the rope gates when vehicles were crossing the pedestrian area so proper gates will be required for compliance at the Cranky Handle. Craig Stuart has 50 wheel chocks donated by the Pegman. Please see Craig if you would like some. Central Coast Members of the HVVFMC. Present for a cuppa and discussion on Wednesday 15 th April at the Gosford Showground Committee Room were, John and Evelyn Crowhurst, Nick Tcaciuc, Falvie Boyton, Graham Crowhurst, Michael Crowhurst, Joey Crowhurst, Graeme Hosford and John Rickard. Apologies received from Bill Marks, John Bailey, Stan and Josh Darocha, Colin and Gail Jeffreys. New Shows: Morisset Community Festival at the Morisset Show Ground - 17 th May Putt Putt Regatta Davistown Foreshore - 18 th October General discussion about up and coming shows. Notice from Your Editor Our Club should feel rightfully proud for the number of members who were able to assist Maitland Steam members on Saturday 11 th April, in erecting fencing and other jobs in preparation for Steamfest. This was despite the working bee clashing with the Central Coast s Annual Rally where a lot of our members were attending. The hospitality provided by members of Maitland Steam and Antique Machinery Association was greatly appreciated by members of both Clubs; a hot cooked breakfast was being served around 7.30, (unfortunately, I had my soggies before leaving home) with several cups of tea on offer and freshly cooked scones with credit to Jenny DeBono, provided with jam and cream a positive bonus. Thank you Maitland Steam. The AGM for the Hunter Valley Vintage Farm Machinery Club is quickly drawing upon us as the meeting of the 15 th June approaches. 4

5 Please consider what you can offer and do for your Club in advising members that you are prepared to be nominated for an Executive or other Club position. As always, all positions are declared vacant; no one has tenure on any position. By now most members would know of the passing of Edd Payne of Gulgong, I attended the service held in one of his son s backyard; his coffin was surrounded by running engines from his collection. It was very different and moving service, as Edd's coffin was carried past all his running engines, then taken in the hearse for cremation. Collectors and friends travelled from long distances to be at Edd's farewell. RIP Edd. Russell Bright Photos and Stories from March Continue. 7 Central Coast Machinery in Motion Rally th & 12 th April - Report and pictures: Keith Hutchison. Weekend of the 11 th and 12 th of April the Hunter Valley Vintage Farm Machinery Club members put on a good display at the Central Coast Rally. The rain on Friday night made conditions extremely muddy on the ground for the Saturday Showing but by Sunday it had dried out and presented a good day for showing. There was a constant stream of visitors on both days considering the conditions. Members present and on the ground were Ron and Mathew Smith, Steve and Karen Alan, Peter and Debbie Geering, Denis Brown, Keith and Marea Hutchinson, Craig and Darrell Stuart, Maurie Nesbitt. - Hutcho Andy s Gardener Steve and Karen s Rope Maker Peter discussing Andy s Gardener 4BCR Marine Engine Peter Geering s Vertical Buzacotts and Moffat Virtue. 8 Hunter Valley Steamfest - 18 th & 19 th April - Report and Pictures: Don Lean. It was another very successful Steamfest over the weekend of the 18 th and 19 th April with the weather, although overcast, made for pleasant conditions despite the experts forecast of rain. It was suggested, displays were down, however, it was also noted the vast array and variety of displays was a credit to all concerned. Crowd numbers appeared down on Saturday morning, but picked up around mid-day. All members enjoyed the 2015 event and had packed up before the weather took a change for the worst on Monday. Steam driven carousel; reported only two in the world. Spectators view the many and vast array of displays as one of the steam trains heads towards Branxton cylinder Chevrolet owned by Jerry Cassidy. 12 Wanted I am looking for an Intake Manifold for 1959 LA Case; this is for a friend s restoration. Contact Russell Bright or russell.bright@bigpond.com.au Jokes Tired of constantly being broke and stuck in an unhappy marriage, a young husband decided to solve both problems by taking out a. large insurance policy on his wife, with himself as the beneficiary, and then arranging to have her killed.. A 'friend of a friend' put him in touch with a nefarious, dark-side underworld figure who went by the name of 'Artie.' Artie explained to the husband that his going price for snuffing out of a spouse was $10,000. The husband said he was willing to pay that amount but that he wouldn't have any cash on hand until he could collect his wife's insurance money. Artie insisted on being paid at least something up front, so the man opened his wallet, displaying the single dollar coin that rested inside. Artie sighed, rolled his eyes and reluctantly agreed to accept the dollar as down payment for the dirty deed. A few days later, Artie followed the man's wife to the local Woolworths store. There, he surprised her in the produce department and proceeded to strangle her with his gloved hands. As the poor unsuspecting woman drew her last breath and slumped to the floor, the manager of the produce department stumbled unexpectedly onto the murder scene. Unwilling to leave any living witnesses behind, ol' Artie had no choice but to strangle the produce manager as well. However, unknown to Artie, the entire proceedings were captured by the hidden security cameras and observed by the shop's security guard, who immediately called the police. Artie was caught and arrested before he could even leave the premises. Under intense questioning at the police station, Artie revealed the whole sordid plan, including his unusual financial arrangements with the hapless husband who was also quickly arrested. The next day in the newspaper, the headline declared... 'ARTIE CHOKES 2 for Woolworths' The only cow in a small town in Texas stopped giving milk. The people did some research and found they could buy a super milk cow in Wisconsin for $2, They bought the cow from Wisconsin and the cow was wonderful. It produced lots of milk all of the time, and the people were pleased and very happy. They decided to acquire a bull to mate with the cow and produce more cows like it. They would never have to worry about their milk supply again. They bought a bull and put it in the pasture with their beloved cow. However, whenever the bull came close to the cow, the cow would move away. No matter what approach the bull tried, the cow would move away from the bull and he could not succeed in his quest. The people were very upset and decided to ask the Vet, who was very wise, what to do. They told the Vet what was happening. "Whenever the bull approaches our cow, she moves away. If he approaches from the back, she moves forward. When he approaches her from the front, she backs off. An approach from the side and she walks away to the other side." The Vet thinks about this for a minute and asked, "Did you buy this cow in Wisconsin?" The people were dumbfounded, since they had never mentioned where they bought the cow. "You are truly a wise Vet," they said. "How did you know we got the cow in Wisconsin?" The Vet replied with a distant look in his eye, "My wife is from Wisconsin." Thank you Peter and Judy Draper, Russell Bright and Keith Hutchison, for your reports and pictures. Thank you Ron Smith, Bill Burg and Ken and Beryl Melmeth for providing the jokes. Yes, they have been received by and from the Paterson Psst, so apologies if you have read them. Please don t forget to share any of your news, articles and photos, by the 28 th May. Thank you, Don. 12
