1 Next Meeting: 2 nd Saturday 9:30AM Fruitdale Grange 2018 Galice Tour Down the Historic and Scenic Rogue River Canyon In October our club enjoyed a nice fall trip out of the upstream valley, through farmlands then along the river, to Galice Resort for a nice lunch on the deck overlooking the river and mountains. It is a great setting to be with friends and talk about various topics of interest. The drive is a nice easy jaunt enjoyed by everyone. Top photos are of this year s A (and a T) lineup. Bottom photos are: Photos of Firths 30 coupe on the road and Bill Hallows next to his authentically aged coupe. Fleishman s green model T is behind Bill. He s really put some miles on it since he purchased it. It was nice to see all the cars out and have the chance to enjoy all their beauty! Page 1
2 2018 Officers and Executive Committee President John Firth Vice President and MAFFI Rep Lynn MacDougall Secretary Kitty Waud Treasurer Nancy Firth Past President Bill Hallows Committee Chairs: From the President s Desk John Firth President Letter: November 2018 I am in the middle of a new project that will likely keep me busy this winter. I bought a 1930 Closed Cab Pickup (CCPU) from former club member Kim Rich a while back. Included in the deal was the back section for a 1930 Roadster Pickup. That got me thinking that a Roadster Pickup would be fun to do. So, I contacted my friend in southern Cal who does a lot of buying and selling of Model A cars and parts. Sure enough, he had just what I needed to make this scheme work. And better yet, he wanted my cab, so we made a trade. Things are coming along nicely. Newsletter Editor Todd Calvert calvert.todd@gmail.com Tour Coordinator Tom Rogers Sunshine Pam Green pgreenrn@hotmail.com Librarian Art Peary Coffee Bill MacDougall Membership Chuck Green NWRG Representative John Firth jnfirth@charter.net MAFCA Representative John Firth jnfirth@charter.net Web Master Rick Black rickblack44@gmail.com Restorer Chapter News Reporter Mike McKey mndmckey@msn.com Our November 10 tour to club member Bill Schoenleber s shop in Central Point should be very interesting. If you missed it last month, check out Todd s cover story about Bill in Rogue Ramblings. He is quite an accomplished builder, mostly hot rods, but we can see the quality of this work and artistic ability. He has built several tribute cars. A few reminders: Our elections for 2019 officers will be held at the November meeting. We will also begin taking reservations for the January 12 Installation Banquet. There will be no meeting in December, per our by-laws. See you on the 10th! John Rogue Ramblings is a publication of Henry s Lady Chapter, MAFCA, an Oregon non-profit corporation. Please Submit your 2019 Membership Renewal Dues: Renewals are a bargain at $15 and new membership for the first year is $25. Simply fill in the renewal form at the end of this newsletter and either pay at the meeting or by mail. See you for next year s tours! The upcoming 2019 Oregon Tour: The Oregon Tour is to be headquartered out of Cottage Grove, Oregon this year. This is designed as a keep it simple tour intended to keep expenses down. We have a great time touring, meeting new people and seeing different parts of Oregon on the back roads that most do not see. We have Model A's, T's Horseless Carriages and a few modern cars. The whole idea is to have fun. We have children as well as old folks, so it is a nice blend of people. Applications should be out in January for the July event. Stay tuned for more details to come! 2019 Tour Schedule: Tom Rogers has agreed to be our tour coordinator again for this next touring season. He would greatly appreciate any ideas for tours and assistance coordinating those logistics. If you have a great idea for a tour and can help our club see new things or provide a benefit to the community and local businesses through display of our old cars, let Tom know so he, you and the club can work to pull it together for a fun time to be had by all. Toms s home number is on the second page of this newsletter. He d be happy to hear from you. Let s brainstorm and have a great summer tour lineup! Henry s Lady Photo Gallery: We have a lot of new folks with cars in the club recently. Our website coordinator would love to include a photo of your car for the photo gallery. Simply submit a photo to Rick Black. Include who s car it is and the year and body style. It s a nice collection of pictures for others to see and enjoy on the web. To see what is already posted, go to: Monthly Recipe Here is a nice recipe for the upcoming holidays. Maybe you ve never made a pecan pie? Give it a whirl!
