This poor fellow had been evicted from his home by his wife. Trevor counselled him for a couple of hours and gave him $100 from his wallet to help him on his way to Dubbo where he was proposing to go. 4 Leader 28th June 2017 There was a good roll up last Wednesday with five braving the elements, four bikes and one Spyder. First stop was the Holbrook Bakery for some refreshments and comfort and from there across to Culcairn for lunch. After lunch, led by Gurt, they navigated across to Walbundrie, on to Lockhart then home. A good day was enjoyed by all. Meet and Greet at Billy s was well attended on Saturday with the usual banter being tossed around in the usual fashion. Up-coming events are the ride to Young and Boorowa this coming Sunday, Christmas in July at Jugiong on 15th/16th July (Give Gloria a call on for further information, and on August 6th we have our annual trek to Morundah to join up with the crews from Albury/Wodonga and Griffith for a sumptuous lunch at the Morundah Hotel. One to keep in mind is the Tri Branch weekend at Jerilderie which is in September on the 9 th, 10th and 11th. More details will be sent to branches shortly Our next Branch meeting will be held on July 18th in the Radio Club Rooms in Small Street. Doors open at 7:00pm and the meeting will get under way at 7:30pm. Remember that all rides for the months of June July and August start at 9:30am. Wednesday rides from Billy s café and Sunday rides from McDonalds Edward Street Car Park. 5 Leader 5 th July 2017 Was a good day last week when 5 took off from Billy s café at about 9:30am and via a devious route around the district they landed in Cootamundra where they had lunch with a bunch of 5 from Griffith. After much munching and chin wagging they all rode back to Temora where the 2 groups parted company and headed back to their respective camps. Meet and Greet was well attended on Saturday in spite of the near freezing conditions. Man-o-man has it been fresh even the frost in our fridge has been rugged up. On Sunday, still fresh, 5 bikes and 6 members braved Jack Frost for a run up to Boorowa. Leaving Maccas at the usual time we headed up to Bethungra via the Oura / Nangus road and stopped in at the Old School House for a coffee and other essentials, which was well warranted by this time in this weather. After a chat with Gary, a warm up and a consensual discussion it was decided that Harden would be the destination for lunch due to the time frames. So off we went via the back roads behind Cootamundra. By this time the day was turning out fantastic weather wise and with a burger, fuel and more essentials at Harden the route home was Muttama, Coolac and Gundagai for more essential requirements. I m sure it must be the weather and not an age thing. Keeping off the freeway the Nangus road was the choice back to Wagga after goodbyes at Gundagai. The day turned out glorious day for riding and everyone commented that it was a great day. Our next event is the Christmas in July thing at Jugiong on Saturday night the 15 th July. Unfortunately all accommodation in Jugiong is spoken for, so if you want to go either take a swag or camp at Cootamundra or Gundagai or battle on back to Wagga. Also on the Sunday (16 th ) of that weekend we are raffling some firewood at the Swap Meet being held at the Showgrounds, with the proceeds going to this year s Toy run. On Saturday we will be conducting a sausage sizzle at Toys R Us which is also on behalf of the toy run. If anyone can help with either of these events please give Spyder a call on or Pat on On August 6 th it is the annual meet at the Morundah Pub for lunch with Griffith and Albury/ Wodonga, departing from McDonalds Edward Street Car Park at 9:30am. In the meantime rug up and enjoy the frost, or should that be the froth on top of a schooner. Specialising Wagga Wagga in: Thule - Rhino Rack - GME Two Way Hema Maps and Hema Navigator If they haven t got it they will get it 5
6 Leader 12 h July 2017 The week has been pretty lousy what with rain on Wednesday and rain again on Sunday and Saturday was not what you would call brilliant but a few did turn up for coffee at Billy s. Up and coming events are the Christmas in July at Jugiong this Saturday, at the Sir George Hotel. Unfortunately, while there are a couple of spots available at the dinner table accommodation is fully booked with the nearest being Cootamundra or Gundagai. Give Gloria a call on On Saturday we will be having a sausage sizzle at Toys R Us from 9:00am until 1:00pm in aid of this year s Toy Run. On Sunday we will be at the Swap meet with a large trailer full of firewood to be raffled in aid of the Toy Run. If anyone can help at either of these happenings just turn up we will soon give you a job. Peter Meiklejohn was back home for a few days but he is now back in Calvary Hospital for further treatment. If you can spare 5 minutes to say g day I am sure he would appreciate it. It is not much fun staring at four walls and a ceiling all day. On the 6 th August we meet up with Griffith and Albury/Wodonga for the annual feast at the Morundah Hotel. On the 19 th of August, it s off to The Temora Aviation Museum where they will be having a fly day. That is always a good event and food and drink is no problem, being available on site. Of course, weather permitting, there is always the Wednesday rides which leaves Billy s Café at 9:30am, after a discussion about a destination. Our next Branch meeting is on the 18 th of this month at the Radio Club Rooms at 7 Small Street. Doors open at 7:00pm and the meeting gets under way at 7:30pm. All interested people are most welcome. And while we are on the subject of interested people, the Ulysses Club membership is declining due to a myriad of factors. The Club was made up of a large collection of Baby Boomers and many of them have moved on to other interests like Caravans etc. We need an injection of new recruits, so if you can line up a bunch of motorcyclist who are 40 years old, and above, and love to get out and about get them to give us a call on or ring the National Office, in Narellan on or There are lots of good reasons to join and make like-minded friends all over Australia. Enjoy the week and watch those slippery roads. For all your Barbecue, Picnic and Camping needs. plus a large range of wood fires Wagga Bike tyres Let Fred and his team put the rubber between you and the road. Tyres to suit all motorcycles - Sports - Off Road - Cruisers 6
7 Leader 19 th July 2017 The weather has improved and a handful headed off over Narrandera way last week enjoying a good ride in sunshine with a bit of frosty chill thrown in. There was a very good attendance at Billy s café on Saturday morning and it was here that the contingent too off for the overnight stay at Jugiong, and they were farewelled by a bunch who were unable to go for a variety of reason. The travellers shot up to Tumut where they had lunch. By all accounts the Christmas in July at Jugiong, was a smash hit and all those who attended kept up the club tradition and were disgraceful. I did hear a couple of gripes about the cool Sunday morning, but you get that in the Winter. On Sunday, the Toy Run Committee conducted a firewood raffle with a 2 cubic metre trailer load of wood donated by Mark Kendall s Tree Service. An excellent response to the raffle was experienced, it was drawn on the day and won by Damien Baddeley of Wagga with ticket number 743. Our monthly meeting was held last night with the usual supporters braving the chill. On the 6 th August we meet up with Griffith and Albury/Wodonga for the annual feast at the Morundah Hotel. On 19 th August it s off to The Temora Aviation Museum where they will be having a fly day. That is always a good event and food and drink is no problem, being available on site. Of course, weather permitting, there is always the Wednesday rides which leaves Billy s Café at 9:30am, after a discussion about a destination. Once again see if you can round up some new recruits to help bolster our ranks. Give us a call on or ring the National Office, in Narellan on or There are lots of good reasons to join and make like-minded friends all over Australia. Enjoy the week and watch out for Tin Tops.
