3 You still have time to sign up! TBCR is planning an old-fashioned Cowboy Cookout for Sunday, November 6th, starting at 3:30PM at Colossal Cave Stables. It will be a catered meal, consisting of salad, steak or chicken breast, baked potato, ranch beans, garlic toast and peach cobbler for desert! The cost will be $20 per person (this includes the $5.00 entrance fee to the park.) There will be a cash bar, serving beer and wine. The club is paying for the rental of the BBQ area and covers the damage/clean up fee. There appears to be sufficient interest in this event.so we will go ahead and make the reservations. You will need to send me a check for your meal(s) and let me know if you want steak or chicken. All checks must be to me no later than October 15th. That gives you plenty of time but don t delay, as you might forget! Send your check, made out to TBCR, to.. 7 ON THE ROAD.. ROAD... RUN TO THE PINES - from Bob Swetzer It was great to be able to make that beautiful drive up to Pinetop for the Run to the Pines one more time. My Midget had been out of commission for almost two years, but it was up to the challenge - having been proven in the Run to Reno last June. This was the 28th annual Run, obviously one of the oldest car shows in Arizona, and it gets better as the years go by. There were over 550 cars participating in this three-day show, divided into 23 categories with a cut-off date of Number 13, Imported Sports Cars, comprised seven Little British Cars and four Panteras. Besides my Midget, there were Will and Sarah Ferguson s 52 MG TD from Pinetop, Tad and Polly Betterton s 53 MG TD from Mesa, Wes and Claudia Bender s 55 Austin-Healey 100 from Alpine and Green Valley, Bob and Donna Sisley s 59 MGA from Tucson (fellow TBCR members), John and Jo Ann Duvall s 62 TR3B from Showlow and Steve and Lorna Kerkes 69 E-Type Jaguar from Sandia Park, NM. Wes took first place (not the first time), the Fergusons were second, and the Duvalls third. The very impressive Italian Panteras did not take a prize. Perhaps the problem was that all four were absolute perfection!! Who can decide? Among other friends encountered, the Moellers were there enjoying the show. Unless you are going to NM for one or other of their great shows, how about driving your 1973 or earlier LBC to Pinetop next year. It s great fun. You could even win an antique gas pump!
