3 Acknowledge Traditional Owners The mining operations of Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) are located on Aboriginal land and are surrounded by, but separate from, Kakadu National Park. ERA respectfully acknowledges the Mirarr, Traditional Owners of the land on which the Ranger mine is situated. 3

4 Company overview Ranger mine has mined uranium oxide for three decades, producing over 110,000 tonnes World class resources with significant major project opportunities Indigenous employment has significantly increased and represents 18 per cent of workforce Over 550 employees (FIFO and Jabiru Residents) Publicly listed company based in the Northern Territory (68.4 per cent owned by Rio Tinto) Ranger mine is arguably the most regulated and scrutinised mine in Australia The surrounding environment remains protected (Supervising Scientist 2010/11 Annual Report) ERA makes a vital social and economic contribution locally, nationally and internationally Major projects recently announced $220 Brine Concentrator $120 million Ranger 3 Deeps exploration decline $57 million Ranger 3 Deeps feasibility study $40 million exploration programme 4

6 Safety performance ERA has maintained a strong focus on safety and achieved an All Injury Frequency Rate of 0.65 year to date Three recordable injuries have occurred in the first half of 2012 These three recordable injuries consisted of two Lost Time Injuries (a sprained wrist from an employee slipping in a shower; and a strained shoulder from an employee slipping on a step) and one Medical Treatment Case (a laceration to the shin whilst stepping onto a drill rig) All three employees have made a full recovery and returned to full duties 5 Frequency rate (per 200,000 hrs worke ed) AIFR LTIFR H1 6

7 Our people ERA is a major employer in the West Arnhem region, and one of the leading employers of Indigenous people in the Northern Territory Indigenous employment As at 26 July 2012, ERA has 80 approximately 600 full time employee positions, which Number includes 103 Indigenous employees Our female participation rate is currently 21% ERA currently employs 17 fulltime apprentices and five school based apprentices Rolling employee turnover is 22% YTD 7

8 ERA s work with the Mirarr people ERA and the Mirarr People, through the representative bodies Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corp and the Northern Land Council, are involved in decisions relating to ERA s operations and activities, including water management, land management, cultural heritage management and mining. All new employees participate in Cultural Awareness training developed and delivered by the Gundjehmi Aboriginal Corporation (GAC) Image used with the consent of the Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation 8

10 Brine Concentrator on schedule and budget ERA Board approved project on 1 February 2012 with estimated expenditure of $220 million The Brine Concentrator is being provided by HPD LLC, a subsidiary of Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies Strong relationship continues between HPD and ERA Construction occurring on schedule in the USA, Germany, China and Thailand Site works have commenced with bulk excavation and preparation for concrete footings CCHI China Evaporator Vessel All components continue to be expected to arrive in the Northern Territory by Q Nominal capacity to treat 1.83 billion litres of water per year The Brine Concentrator facility is planned to be commissioned and fully operational in the second half of 2013 This is a critical project for the future of ERA Slot Nankai Thailand Vapour Washer Vessel 10

11 Exploration update Exploration drilling since April 2012 Ranger holes drilled totalling 7,300 metres Drilling concentrated at Anomaly 4, Anomaly 8 and south east Ranger 3 Deeps R19PD52 Drilling commenced in areas north of the Magela Creek in late June Moving forward in 2012 Ranger 18 E Drilling at Anomaly 8 and Georgetown to be finalised allowing drilling operations to move north to concentrate on Ranger 18 E and Ranger 19 areas (subject to regulatory approvals) Anomaly 4 Georgetown Anomaly 8 Drilled Pre-collared Planned 11

12 Outlook Continued strong safety performance Pit 3 has been fully dewatered earlier than expected and mining of Pit 3 on target to be completed by the end of 2012 Continued strong plant performance in production of uranium oxide expected to be between 3,200 and 3,700 tonnes Ranger 3 Deeps exploration decline and the Brine Concentrator projects are on budget and on schedule Relationship with the GAC and Mirarr Traditional Owners continues to develop 12
