2 October 2013 in comparison to the previous year 1 Current overview of hotel performance for selected destinations in Germany: Berlin: Occ: 82%, ADR: 96, RevPar: 78 Overall, the Berlin hotel market performed considerably worse in October than in comparison to last year (RevPar: -4%); this is due in particular to a weaker average rate of -4%. Among the root causes for this drop was undoubtedly the absent EASD Conference from the previous year which left a big hole in the pockets of hotel owners. Dresden: Occ: 73%, ADR: 71, RevPar: 52 Golden October really lived up to its name in Dresden. The city s hoteliers saw a noticeable improvement in general performance over the year before, achieving a revenue for October of approx. 52 per available room (Occ: +2%). Main reasons: good conference and congress business as well as some warm and pleasant autumn weather. Dusseldorf: 75%, ADR: 166, RevPar: 124 Overall performance in October was substantially better than in the preceding year (RevPar: +56%). This is largely attributable to an increase in the rate (ADR: +40%). Main contributory factors: the 7-day K Trade Fair ( ), which only takes place every 3- years, and some decent overflow business provided by the Anuga Trade Fair in Cologne a biennial event ( ). Frankfurt: 73%, ADR: 139, RevPar: 102 This October in Frankfurt was a clear improvement over the previous year (RevPar: +21%), principally due to a strong progression in the rate (ADR: +15%). 3 Hamburg: 81%, ADR: 107, RevPar: 86 Hamburg s hoteliers can be well pleased with October s results which present are much brighter picture than this time last year (RevPar: +11%). The German Pain Congress from was a major contributory factor. The event has no fixed location and this year it was Hamburg s turn. Cologne/Bonn: Occ: 77%, ADR: 137, RevPar: 105 October was a fantastic month for Cologne / Bonn. The region achieved a RevPar increase in excess of 54% in October - a result essentially influenced by a distinctly stronger ADR of 137. This very impressive score was achieved by the presence of the biennial Anuga Food Fair ( ) and some good overflow business from Dusseldorf for the K International Trade Fair for Plastics & Rubber ( ). Leipzig: 77%, ADR: 73, RevPar: 56 October was a substantially better month this time round than in the previous year (RevPar for Leipzig hoteliers: +19%). Principal reason: The double jubilee 200 years Völkerschlacht (Battle of the Nations) und 100 Years Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Monument to the Battle of the Nations). Munich: Occ: 87%, ADR: 158, RevPar: 137 Munich saw a noticeable improvement in the performance initially expected for October. While the last trend barometer had predicted a rate loss of 2%, the result actually achieved was +4% for ADR and +8% in the RevPar, a development which brought some welcome relief to Munich s hotel keepers. Among the main reasons for the positive data this month was short-term demand for the Expo Real ( ).
