3 UPCOMING EVENTS July 13, after work. Easley Winery in the Garden. Music, wine. Food can be ordered from nearby restaurants. August 15 Annual club picnic at Indianapolis Sailing Club (see ad in this issue) September 9 TGI Thursday, after work at Rick s Boatyard on Eagle Creek (just north of 38th Street on the east side of the reservoir) September 11, Penrod Day at Indpls Art Museum. Club will have a booth. To volunteer check out our website.: October 7, 630 pm Fall Club Meeting at Athenaeum December 2, 630 pm, Club Christmas Party at Athenaeum The PREZ Speaks - by Joan Naffziger I hope everyone is having a good summer and thinking about skiing! Your Board never stops thinking about skiing. Jean Ballinger has put together a great group of trips for next season. The trip leaders have already met and will be ready to sign people up at the Picnic August 15 th at the Sailing Club. Please note the picnic is on Sunday this year. If I had actually run for President I think Engaging members in the Club would be my platform. What I mean is that is I think many of our members see the Club as a means to ski with little planning on their part rather than a club in which to participate and support. Lisa Sindelar, Lois & Dick Surber and I attended the Ohio Valley Ski Council Summit early in June. The Summit is an annual event where officers of all the Clubs in the Council meet in both general sessions and breakout sessions on a variety of topics. I think we all came away with an enthusiasm and some ideas for engaging our Club members - in other words, getting more and new people involved in the club. You may have noticed that there are fewer social events this summer. There are a couple reasons. One is there were a lot of activities last summer but attendance was rather slim, so maybe we had too many. The second reason is finding members who will organize and run them. In an effort to find out what members want, Lisa Sindelar and Paul Woods are putting together a Social Committee of sorts. We also hope it will be a way to engage more members in the club. The Indy Ski Club has a great history of being not only a ski club but a social club. We are hoping to find our way back to that. One way we will engage the membership is by hosting the OVSC Summit in Indianapolis next June. Dayton hosted it this year, and there were many Dayton club members involved in a variety of hosting activities. Many of their members also attended the Saturday party (always fun). There will be more information about the summit at the picnic. We do have some social events planned and there will be more added. Keep checking the Website and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Picnic SUNDAY August 15 th!
