1 CLUB NEWS Part of having a successful club, is having participation at club events. So how do Denton County Aggies know what is going on with the club? Check out our website, we realize that you need up to date information. See first hand, all of the hard work we have done: SCHOLARSHIP NEWS This year our Board Members voted to add another scholarship and increase the amount given to our scholarship recipients. Thanks to a successful golf tournament and an increase in membership, our club can begin to do new things. Great job everyone! Gig Em! Damon Wykrent Club President D.C. AGGIES D AN AGGIES NEWS PUBLICATION March 2006 MEMBERSHIP Philip Sterling E N T O N C O U N T Y Howdy! My name is Philip Sterling. I was a proud member of the Fightin Texas Aggie Band and Class of My wife (Kalli 02) and I recently moved to Trophy Club after a year-long vacation (they called it work!) on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. Although we miss all the weekend getaways to exotic tropical islands, we re really excited to be back in Texas near our family, friends, and kitties! 2006 CLUB OFFICERS President Damon Wykrent 00 Past President Damon Veazey 86 Muster Jenny Howell 97 Golf Susan Mohr PRESORT STANDARD US POSTAGE PAID COLLEGE STATION TX PERMIT NO. 7 D.C. AGGIES D E N T O N C O U N T Y PO Box Lewisville, TX Within days of moving to town, even before looking for a local Aggie club, we started receiving this newsletter and s announcing various Aggie Club events. We decided to attend a few functions; and between the game-watching parties, happy hours, and wine-tastings we were hooked! We enjoyed meeting other Aggies and reminiscing about the good ol days back at A&M. We realized the networking possibilities were endless. As we were considering joining the club, I received an from the club s president, Damon Wykrent 00, soliciting help with the club s website. I have a lot of free time with my job as a pilot for American Eagle Airlines and I enjoy building websites, so I answered the call. As they say, the rest is history. It s now my pleasure to serve as your VP of Membership and Webmaster. My goals for 2006 are to double the number of dues-paying members and to redesign the website to be as informative and user-friendly as possible. With your help, I will succeed with both goals. More than 4,500 Ol Ags currently live in Denton County. This large number of former students creates great opportunities for networking, meeting new friends, and helping graduating high school seniors experience the Spirit of Aggieland with the aid of our scholarships. However, many of you receiving this free newsletter are not currently dues-paying members of the Denton County A&M Club. We need your support! 2 MEMBERSHIP, Continued club in a variety of ways, but the easiest way is by paying annual dues. The dues are currently $25/single and $35/family, of which the entirety is applied to our scholarship fund. We are planning many fun activities throughout 2006, and we would love for you to participate and get to know your fellow Ags! Whether you choose to become involved in the club as an active member or simply to support our efforts with your annual dues as an inactive member, your support is greatly needed and appreciated. $25 is a tiny price to pay to help a young man or woman experience the indescribable Spirit of Aggieland. Check out our ever-improving website at for a wealth of useful information such as club announcements, activities calendar, contact info, and online store. The site will eventually host an online member database, chat forum, and job posting/search board. Of course, we re always open to suggestions and comments regarding our website! Hey, we re all busy, but joining the club is now easier than ever! You can now pay dues online at our website or you can use your bank s online bill-pay program to send a check. No computer? No problem. You can always call me at (972) Of course, we still accept good ol fashioned paper checks, too. Thank you for supporting your Denton County A&M Club! 3 Club Activities A big thanks to Dickey and Michele Russell for organizing our tailgate party in February while the Aggie Baseball Team played at UTA. The Denton County A&M Club would like to hear from you if you have good ideas Do you have an idea for a club event? We are constantly searching for new ideas and creative ways to bring Denton County Aggies together. your ideas to Michele Russell at activities@dentoncountyaggies.com DARE TO COMPARE We Pay Our Employees 80% of the Bill Rate RBSI Staffing Solutions publishes our rates and guarantees that our employees receive 80% of our client s bill rate. RBSI recruits for various IT Related skill sets including, but not limited to: Programmer/Analyst of various skills including Legacy Developers, Client Server / Web Developers, Data Mining / Data Warehouse experts on multiple platforms. We also recruit System Engineers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Technical Writers, Network Specialists and so on that cover a wide range of vertical markets. Currently we need Cisco Certified (CCNP / CCIE) System Engineers on a National basis, as well as SE s with core IP skills (RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP4, MPLS, L2 and L3 VPN), and VoIP skills. At RBSI, both our clients and our employees know where every dime of the bill rate goes, creating an atmosphere of trust and true partnerships. This concept has worked well because our clients ultimately save money due to the fact that the high overhead normally associated with staffing firms is eliminated from the equation. 4 Aggie Business Roundtable Coppell/Denton County Aggie Business Roundtable Breakfast Meeting 7:30-8:45 am 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. Location: IHOP, 2600 Long Prairie Road (aka as centrally located between 1171 and 3040) Flower Mound, TX Aggies helping Aggies best describes what the Business Round Table is all about. Whether a business connection, client referral, event promotion, or a job contact, the Round Table offers all these opportunities and more. It provides an excellent forum for those seeking new business/client relationships, local Aggie connections, a new job, involvement in A&M support activities such as the Bob Mohr Golf Tournament, or just to socialize with other Aggies. Members include entrepreneurs, corporate execs, regular workers, marketing, sales, job seekers, whose professions represent: accounting, attorneys, banking, business coaches, financial, insurance, IT development, mortgage loans, personnel placement, pest control, project management, and more. Something for everyone whatever your interest or ambition, there is a place for you, especially if you desire to network your business, your skills or your cause. The Round Table has been a significant activity for me personally. After 32 years in the aerospace industry, followed by three years of retirement, my wife, Jan, and I decided to start an insurance agency. When we later moved our agency to Denton we did so knowing only one local business person. Then I had a chance meeting (the ring s the thing) with a fellow Aggie who introduced me to the Denton County A&M Club Business Round Table. That was over two years ago. Since then and through subsequent Aggie connections, we have made many new friends, and met people we would not have otherwise met. Who knows where these connections will lead! In addition to the business/client connections that have helped our business, and have had opportunities to get involved in other A&M-related activities. This is our story. You will have your own. So check us out, make the Aggie Connection! You ll be glad you did. And so will we. We ARE the Aggie network! If you would like to be a speaker, please contact John Fondon 64. jfondon@farmersagent.com
