6 ACTIVITY INFORMATION SHEET ACTIVITY: Davies Plain and Upper Murray river Leader: Ben Goodwin Ph: Date/s: Feb 2018 Deadline to confirm participation: 20 Feb 2018 Meeting point: Jubilee Oval Start time: 0800 Vehicle / participant numbers: Maximum: 6 Minimum: 2 Description of activity, safety issues, comments etc: To see the source of the Murray, or at least get as close as we can to it is on my dads bucket list. This trip will hopefully see us spending some time fishing the Murray River and soaking up the scenery. The plan is to be twisting the top of a cold one by 5pm each day J Departing Wagga we will head to Corryong to refuel and have morning tea. From Corryong we will head to Wheelers Creek Hut via Stacey s Bridge, Scrubby Creek Track and Six Mile Ridge Track and then on to Mt Pinnibar Summit via Shady creek Upper track, then down to Tom Gorggin Rest Area. Set up camp on either Vic or NSW side depending on height of river and the size of our group. Day 2 we will pack up camp and drive up Davies Plain Track with a stop at Davies Plain Hut for morning tea. Then follow Kings Plain Track down to the Murray and also Mcarthy s Track to the Murray. Lunch at The Poplars camp area, which is the highest vehicular access to the Murray. Depending on time we will back track to Tom Gorggin via Mt Hope Rd and Tom Groggin Tracks, with a side trip to Mt Anderson and Mt Gibbo if time permits. If making better time We will push on to Geehi for night two. Day 3 we will head up and explore the Huts in the Geehi Region. Then it will be airing up and on to Khancoban on the Alpine Way for fuel and then home to Wagga. As I have not personally travelled these tracks be prepared to camp at alternative sites such as Davies Plain Hut or Charlies Creek Hut if the going is slower than anticipated. If Murray River is too high to ford at Tom Groggin we will head home via Corryong. I am hoping to stick to the 5pm drinks rule J Personal gear required: Participants will need to be self sufficient with their camping gear, water and food as there is no opportunity to restock once we leave Corryong. Drop toilets available at our overnight stops but no other facilities. Club gear provided: Nil Level of difficulty of overall activity: Easy? Moderate? Hard? Very hard?
