1 22nd October New Zealand Rugby Tour Dear Parents, A wonderful opportunity exists for your son to be part of the 2016 New Zealand Rugby Tour. This letter provides you and your son with basic information about this exciting opportunity and a permission form that must be completed and returned by Friday 20 November. Overview TAS has been taking Development Squads to the South Island of New Zealand since In 2016 the squad will comprise of boys who will be in Year 10 next year. Itinerary & Tour Information The Touring Party will depart Sydney Tuesday 5 th July, spending 10 days on tour, departing Christchurch, Thursday 14 th July (all flight details tbc). A draft itinerary and copies of all tour information may be found at: Staff The TAS Rugby Coaches will be selected from the squad of coaches available. Tour Manager will also be advised shortly. Tour Cost The cost for players is approximately $3,250. Most meals, (one or two lunches in NZ are not included), transport and activities identified in the itinerary are included in the tour cost (including airport taxes and travel insurance). The players touring kit is also included in the tour cost. 2 Passport All members of our touring party will need a valid passport (approx. cost $200). Individuals are responsible for bringing their own passport with them to departure. Travel Insurance This is mandatory. A group policy will be organised through New England Travel and is included in the cost of the tour. What to take A suggested list of what to take is attached. Note that players will only be allowed to take their tour kit bag and their carry-on bag. Everything taken must fit into these two bags. Communication: All information will be posted on the Rugby page on the TAS website, where parents will be able to collect relevant documents. Even so, it is still vital that we have a correct address for all parents. At the bottom of the Permission to Tour note is space provided for your preferred addresses. Please ensure this is filled out. TAS Tour Condition Please note that in order to participate in this tour, your TAS school account must be up-to-date. Spending money Players should check with their own financial institution whether their plastic card will work in ATMs in NZ. A MasterCard or Visa Card may also be useful. Please discuss this with your financial institution. Uniform Dress for the flight to and from New Zealand will be TAS Formal uniform, including the School blazer. Formal uniform will also be worn when arriving at venues for matches and at after-match functions. Players will be required to wear the Touring Tie as a part of their Formal Uniform. Transport to/from Sydney The touring party will meet prior to departure, and be dismissed at the tour s end, from Sydney International Terminal, at a yet to be finalised time. As per the 2015 tour, arrangements can be made for students to travel with the staff to and from Sydney on the same flight at the family s expense. Accommodation in Sydney prior to the tour departing Some flights have an early morning departure time from Sydney International Airport. Previously the group of staff with some students have stayed at the Airport Formula 1 hotel the evening before departure. It is anticipated that this arrangement will be offered again for those families for whom an early morning drop off maybe difficult. These arrangements will be finalised at a later date. This will be an additional cost. 3 If you give permission for your son to tour, you also need to complete and return the attached Booking Application Form. Please note when completing this form: Surname and First Name: Your son s surname and first name must be exactly as it appears on his Passport (or will appear on his passport if he does not have one yet). Passport Details: If your son does not have a Passport yet, still return the form but leave this section blank. When the details become available, please them to Karen Hutton at the address shown above. The non-refundable tour deposit of $500 must also be paid by this date. We hope that your son is able to join this tour for what is sure to be an exciting and rewarding experience.
