1 Tot Breakdown of Lufthansa Check-in System during boarding Apply this procedure only if boarding has ready started. If boarding has not yet started, see Quick Reference Card for Complete Manu Handling. Important: LBC does not provide a passenger name list. Therefore it is necessary to collect the boarding passes of l passengers. Boarding and Manu Acceptance at the Gate Stations that do not collect boarding passes: - Interrupt boarding - Collect boarding passes of l boarded passengers Note: For details on collection of different boarding pass types see step 2. - Continue with step 2 Stations that separate and collect boarding passes: Start with step 2 Board l accepted passengers with printed boarding passes. Collect: - the left part of l standard boarding passes. Hand out the right part of the boarding pass to the passenger. - l paper documents (paper tickets, FIMs, EAs, MCOs, excess coupons) - the complete online boarding passes (= homeprint boarding pass, HBP) Hand out a standard boarding pass as a substitute for each collected online boarding pass and write the following information on the right part: Name (First Class only) / flight number / class / seat number / destination For passengers holding mobile and multi segment boarding passes: Issue a complete manu boarding pass according to the example on page 2 and collect it as a substitute Interrupt boarding when l accepted passengers have been boarded. Count the number of boarding passes per transportation class. CKI-System Breakdown during Boarding Page 1

2 Boarding and Manu Acceptance at the Gate Cculate the number of available seats per transportation class: Capacity per transportation class - Number of counted boarding passes per transportation class = Available seats per transportation class Accept the remaining passengers according to the number of available seats in following sequence: 1. HON 2. MISC 3. SEN /Star Gold / First Class 4. FTL / Star Silver 5. Revenue Passengers 6. LH employees 7. Family and travel partners of LH employees 8. ID passengers working for a Star Alliance partner 9. ID passengers working for any other airline 10. All other ID passengers Notes: - First come first served applies within each priority group. - The employment date of ID passengers is not taken into consideration. 7. Manuly issue standard boarding passes for the remaining passengers: CKI-System Breakdown during Boarding Page 2

3 Boarding and Manu Acceptance at the Gate 7. Manuly issue standard boarding passes (continued) Important: For etix passengers ways write down the ticket number. Notes: - In case of multiple sector flights so write down the destination of the passenger. - Free seating applies. - For crew members write down BDDH. - Make a note of the ID status of l ID passengers on the boarding pass. - Attach manu documents (Paper tickets, FIM, MCO, Excess coupons etc.) to the boarding pass. - Mileage accru: Passengers may register their miles online ( or on the respective website of other airlines. - Perform Document Control (if not done by service provider) by checking 8. - identity of passenger - authenticity and vidity of the travel documents. - visa necessity. Doc control is not necessary for German domestic or flights within Schengen Continue boarding for l passengers holding manu boarding passes. Collect - the left part of the manu boarding passes and - l paper documents (paper tickets, FIMs, EAs, MCOs, excess coupons). Finish boarding by counting the number of l boarding passes per transportation class. Important: Make sure the emergency procedures for baggage security from the Lufthansa Security Manu are applied. 10. Inform Ops about the fin number of passengers. Note: The fin numbers of baggage has to be obtained from the loading staff. If necessary, APIS data will be captured and transmitted by a service provider to the respective authorities. 4 Information of Crew Hand out the Purser Information Sheet to the crew. If possible fill out the form as shown in the example. Important: Following passengers must ways be written on the Purser Info Sheet: UMs, WCHC/R/S, PTC, STCR and passengers travelling with weapons. CKI-System Breakdown during Boarding Page 4

5 Flight Closure and Post Departure Activities Situation 1: EDP breakdown continues / CKI system not available Send messages as fax or or via telephone to next destination(s). For types and contents of messages see examples below. For addresses, fax or telephone numbers refer to the CKI-system breakdown station contact list that can be found in lh-handlingagent.com and ebase: Lufthansa Passage Bibliothek Handbücher Glob Work Instructions Inform the destinations of the flight about weapons on board by adding the passengers and their tag numbers on the Purser Info Sheet. SLS can so be send via Intranet: or via Internet: Step 1: Internet Sign-in Step2: Username: sls / Password: teflos Note: It is not necessary to send a Passenger Transfer Message (PTM). 6 Flight Closure and Post Departure Activities Situation 1: EDP breakdown continues / CKI system not available Following two messages have to be sent for multiple sector flights at origin stations: Seat Occupied Message (SOM) The SOM is necessary for multiple sector flights at the origin station only and has to be sent to the transit station. SOM LH782/29 FRA No seat selection due to EDP breakdown and free seating. Passengers to KUL 3F/25C/87M END SOM Industry Discount Message (IDM) The IDM is necessary for multiple sector flights at the origin station only and has to be sent to the transit station. It shows l ID passengers travelling to the fin destination. IDM LH782/29 FRA 2SCHMITT/KMRS/JMR ID90R4 C KUL 1MAIER/HMR ID90R2 M KUL END IDM Following message has to be sent to certain destinations only: For destinations see station contact list in lh-handlingagent.com and ebase: Lufthansa Passage Bibliothek Handbücher Glob Work Instructions Telegraphic Passenger Manifest (TPM) The TPM has to be sent to certain destinations only. 8 Ticket Manifest Situation 1: EDP breakdown continues / CKI system not available: 1. Send the flight envelope to Revenue Accounting (HAM DP). Add l boarding documents, paper tickets, FIMs, EAs, MCOs and excess baggage coupons and a copy of the PBWS. Important: All boarding documents (printed or written) must be added as they replace the passenger list needed in case of an aircraft emergency. Note: If LBC was used for boarding include the printed list of boarded BN and the manuly issued boarding documents in the flight envelope. 2. To ensure immediate invidation of etix coupons at Revenue Accounting, write down on the envelope: EDP breakdown / Invidation required CKI-System Breakdown during Boarding Page 8

9 Flight Closure, Post Departure Activities and Ticket Manifest Situation 2: EDP breakdown finished / CKI system available again 1. Print out a list of l accepted passengers with boarding numbers Reference in the LH Check-in system: BP Gate register Overview button Pass. List Choose the following options: Passengers: accepted Selection: NBRD Not Boarded Sort the list according to BN/SB (Shortcut Alt + B ) Button Print List 2. Compare the printed list with the collected boarding passes and check off the boarding numbers of l passengers who have boarded the flight. Situation 1 No boarding number is missing, continue with step 3. Situation 2 If boarding numbers are missing, please cancel the respective passengers. Then continue with step Accept l passengers holding manu boarding passes in the CKI-system. Make sure to add the handling codes from the Purser Info Sheet. Add status code BRD Reference in the LH Check-in system: BP Gate register Overview choose option Board All Use the function BRD End to finish boarding. 5. Close the flight (NFC) Result: All necessary messages will be sent automaticly. Exception: Pre-advice telex for weapons has to be written manuly. 6. Send the flight envelope to Revenue Accounting (HAM DP). Add paper tickets, FIMs, EAs, MCOs and excess baggage coupons. Notes: - Do not send any boarding documents in this case. - Write down on the envelope: EDP breakdown / etix status changed to BRD CKI-System Breakdown during Boarding Page 9
