Amar Patel (Product Manager for PSS E and PSS MUST) 9:00 am User Presentation: Modelling of power-(balance-)-based-loadshedding (PBLS) to determine functional requirements of power management systems (PMS) Power Balance Load Shedding (PBLS) can be applied to mitigate the effects of generator and/or grid connection outages by taking fast corrective actions to restore the generation-load balance and prevent cascading failures. In the event of a contingency, the cyclically-updated active power measurements; remaining generation; spinning reserve; equipment overload and additional grid import capability are considered for the unbalance calculation in order to determine the amount of load shedding required. PBLS can therefore provide highly targeted and flexible load shedding, minimizing the disruption to the most sensitive loads. It is recommended to perform dynamic simulations to support the definition of functional requirements for PBLS such as the amount and location of sheddable load and the PBLS response time. 5 Time Topic Speakers Future developments 9:30 am Key Issues in Modeling Renewable Resources This presentation will highlight key issues in Modeling Renewable Resources and discuss some of the recommendations and solutions as suggested by various task forces Jay Senthil (Senior Engineer at Siemens PTI) 10:00 am Automating CGMES Workflows at REN New European Network Codes created new Operational Planning data models, formats and workflows between TSOs and RSCs. REN is developing a new BA integration for CGMES Model Management, IGM case creation and CGM Validation process for D2CF, DACF, IDCF and Y-1 processes with an automated solution from Siemens PTI leveraging PSS ODMS and PSS E. Ananya Kuri (Power System Consultant, Siemens PTI, Germany) 1:30 pm User Presentation: Using Python to streamline your workflow Almost 10 years ago Daniel started using Python to automate PSS E workflow. He will show the potential of using with Python as he sees it. Daniel will describe and demonstrate the Python GUI tool based workflow he developed together with a model to study synthetic inertia from wind power. The workflow starts with definition of cases/scenarios to be run in excel and ends with results displayed in the Python GUI, power point and/or excel. The Python tool makes various checks to identify eligible cases and the user is informed of any issues found in cases not eligible. Different events and analysis options are implemented such as finding critical fault clearing and load or generator tripping. Daniel Wall (Senior Engineer at Vattenfall)

Attendees will participate in live interactive software demonstrations.
