2 Links: The total number of links can be determined as follows. We have 12 major cities, thus it is given by 12*(12-1)/2 = 66 links. We determine the Access and Routers charge first since they remain the same for Private Lessed lines as well as MPLS Access Charges: Fixed charge * Number of large cities = * 12 = 54,000$ Router charges: In-city router charges (for all 12 major cities) + 12 Major cities + 12 Central offices = 9 * 12 * (2000/(5 * 12)) + 12 * (6000/(5 * 12)) + 12 * (6000/(5 * 12)) We use 4 connection routers for In city charges and 14 connection routers for major cities and central offices. Private Lessed Lines: Traffic calculation: We have a constant traffic of 69,785bps, we multiply the Fulle Factor for the same, so our traffic to be routed now becomes 69,785 * 4 = 2,70,140 bps Considering 50% utilization we get traffic as 54,0280 bps PLL consists of Access charges, Router charges and IOC charges. 5 Conclusion: Thus form the above methods we can say that: In terms of cost factor MPLS is far better than Dedicated Private Lines. This was one of our factors in value equation. MPLS optimizes the cost performance by a large margin. Other factors like quality, reliability and services are again better in MPLS. Thus without a doubt KMB Consultancy Services would recommend only MPLS for designing the given Network. VOIP calculations: Converting erlang to bandwidth, with a codec of G.729 and packet duration of 20ms and blocking of 2%, we get Bandwidth = 192 kbps. Thus the number of trunks would be Number of trunks = 8 trunks Since there are 8 trunks over MPLS. There are 6 line and 2 line adapters available for lets say $165 and $40 respectively. These can be amortized at 3% and cost per month could be taken as $4.96 and $1.2 for 6 lines and 2 lines respectively. Thus total Cost for the lines = 8 * 40 = 320$
