TTOT Pilot User Gide Second Edition Prepared by the AA/APA Joint Schedling Committee Agst 1999

DISCLAIMER This Pilot User Gide is intended to spplement, not replace, contractal reqirements as otlined in the AA/APA Basic Working Agreement [ the Contract ]. In the event of conflict between this docment and the Contract, the Contract always takes precedence. SECOND EDITION This is the second printing of the TTOT Pilot User Gide. The contents of this second printing are essentially the same as the initial version. The changes are chiefly editorial, with the order of presentation of the materials being the primary difference. This has been changed to be, we feel, easier for the pilot to se as a reference or gide. If yo have a copy of the initial printing, yo will not need to change to this second version.

PREFACE A Word Abot Expectations The TTOT system is designed to allow pilots increased flexibility to enhance their schedles and projections, and optimize their flying opportnities and days off to the extent permitted by available manning. Conseqently, it will normally be more difficlt to drop trips on weekends and holidays bt easier dring the week. TTOT transactions may also be more restricted in a smaller bid stats than in a larger bid stats. The pictre will constantly change as transactions take place, meaning new opportnities for pickps and drops will continally become available. While yo may not always be able to drop a trip on any day yo choose, the flexibility afforded by the TTOT system represents an improvement in qality of work life for American Airlines pilots. The pilot-to-pilot Trip Trade (TT) system, sing HIBOARD, affords additional flexibility as well. There are going to be problems and frstrations associated with TTOT, particlarly when manning in a for-part bid stats is restrictive. Yo may be assred that APA s Technical Analysis and Schedling Committee (TASC) is constantly working with its American Airlines management conterparts via the Joint Schedling Committee (JSC) to make improvements to the system. The Strctre of the TTOT Program De to certain time, cost, and FOS compter limitations, the TTOT system relies on the same type of DECS entries that yo normally se. Unfortnately, limitations within the FOS system make it difficlt to incorporate many of the graphical displays and windowing fnctions that are available on other systems and most PCs. However, the system has been designed with a series of on-screen prompts to lead the ser throgh each transaction, greatly enhancing sability. We will contine to seek to provide the best tools that the above limitations will allow. i

DEFINITIONS GREEN An indicator for a seqence that shows it may be dropped or traded for an open seqence withot restriction. Mltiple seqence trade Any trade involving more than two seqences (i.e., pick p two seqences and drop one). These trades are not crrently permitted in TTOT, bt might be available in the ftre. Negative CPA CPA below a zero balance; borrowed CPA. May only be sed for either: 1) CPA fill p at the end of the month, or 2) to cover time lost in a TTOT trip drop or trade. One-way trade A single seqence pilot-to-pilot transaction in which one pilot drops a seqence to another pilot. These trades are not limited by TTOT operating times. Open trip or seqence An nassigned, nblocked seqence that is available for trade or pick p. These seqences appear on the N4 display and are often referred to as above the line. Overlapping trade A trade in which the seqence being picked p starts at least one day earlier and completely covers the days of the seqence being dropped. Pilot-to-pilot trade An exchange of seqences, sing the TT system, reqiring direct coordination between pilots (not part of TTOT). These trades may be accomplished after bids are final (initialized) and p to seqence sign-in time. Plotter A compter program sed daily by Crew Schedle to forecast reserve coverage and evalate TTOT reqests based on reserve availability, known open time, forecast open time, sick, make p and irreglar operations. The Plotter determines whether the indicator is RED or GREEN for a particlar seqence on a particlar day. Posted trip A seqence that is owned by a pilot bt is made available for pick p (normally becase it coldn t be dropped). These seqences appear on the lower part of the N4 display and are often referred to as below the line. The posted seqence is still owned by the posting pilot nless/ntil it is picked p. ii

RED An indicator for a particlar seqence that shows it may not be dropped. Trades may be allowed, sbject to restrictions. Trip pick ps, posting trips, and pilot-to-pilot drops and trades are not affected. RED/GREEN algorithm The compter mathematical formla sed by the Plotter to determine whether or not sfficient manning exists to permit a seqence drop or trade. TTOT transaction Any drop, pick p or exchange of seqences between a pilot and the open time list, or pick p of a seqence from the posted (SD Seqence Drop) list. All seqences available for TTOT are shown on the N4 display. TTOT transactions involving the dropping of a trip into open time are governed by the RED/GREEN algorithm in the Plotter. iii

TRIP TRADE WITH OPEN TIME (TTOT) OVERVIEW Who can participate in TTOT? Any line holder, relief or split relief pilot (not involving the reserve portion). Any reserve pilot whose SPROJ is within five (5) hors of the monthly maximm (e.g., > 70:01 in a 75-hor month). What types of transactions will I be able to do in TTOT? Pilots will be able to pick p, trade, drop and post trips. When will TTOT operate? TTOT will be trned on no later than three days (72 hors) prior to the start of the contractal month. For yor exact TTOT opening time, conslt the bid sheet cover page or HIDIR. TTOT transactions may be accomplished between the pblished TTOT opening times and p to 0001 local base time the day prior to a seqence origination. For example, pilots may pick p, trade, or drop a seqence originating on Monday ntil 0001 on Snday. This provides Crew Schedle sfficient time to evalate reserve availability and open time, and to transfer flying between bases and move DFPs (Dty Free Periods) as necessary prior to the filling of open time. Posting of seqences will be permitted as soon as bids are final. Dring TTOT operating hors, posted seqences are available for pick p throgh TTOT with no action necessary by the owning pilot. NOTE: A posted trip may be picked p before TTOT opens/after TTOT closes, p to sign-in time, bt only throgh 1

direct pilot-to-pilot coordination. These one-way trades (a pilot dropping to another pilot) mst be exected in the personal mode of the pilot dropping the seqence. APA member phone nmbers and addresses can be fond in the APA directory on the APA web site. Other pilot-to-pilot trades also reqire direct coordination between pilots. Where can I perform TTOT transactions? At any DECS terminal or throgh PCFOS. AVRS access for some transactions may become available at a later date. Which seqences are available for pick p? Any open or posted seqence that appears above or below the line on the N4D(I) display is available for pick p. Which seqences are available for trading? Only seqences that are actally open ( above the line ) on the N4 display are available for trading. Posted seqences cannot be traded throgh TTOT. A posting pilot may consider a pilotto-pilot trade, bt the pilot mst be contacted. N4D(I) (e.g., N4I/DFW/777/FO/1MAY/5MAY) displays all trips that are either open or posted for drop and not otherwise blocked, making them available for pick p. The posted trips are displayed below the line at the bottom of the display and make p the Seqence Drop (SD) list. Additionally, this display provides detailed information abot each listed seqence. N4D(I)L (e.g., N4DL/DFW/S80/CA/1JUN) will display only those open and posted seqences that a pilot is qalified and legal to pick p on any single day. If a D follows the seqence nmber, a Dty Free Period (DFP) conflict exists, reqiring the movement or waiving (HIWAV) of a DFP. The movement of DFPs is explained later. 2

How will I know why a particlar transaction was denied? Whenever a transaction is denied, the reason will be displayed to the pilot. What other TTOT related DECS entries do I need to be familiar with? HISEQ displays the GREEN or RED stats of a pilot s crrent seqences. HIQUAL displays the qalifications reqired for a specified individal seqence and its GREEN or RED stats. HIWAV can be sed to drop a specific, single 48. How are Dty Free Period (DFP) conflicts handled in TTOT? The HTMD entry can be sed to atomatically shffle DFPs if necessary, or the pilot can manally move DFPs dring a TTOT transaction sing the HTD or HTA entry. Additionally, a pilot can waive a DFP sing the HIWAV entry to facilitate a trade if necessary. Are there any restrictions to performing TTOT transactions? Yes. There are several restrictions involving TTOT. Yo mst be crrent. If yor qalification has expired, or yo have not completed an initial or pgrade qalification, or yo are still in yor IOE period, yo cannot se TTOT. TTOT will allow transactions involving trips that are schedled to fly after: yor recrrent training grace month. yor medical certificate is schedled to or has expired. yor landings are schedled to or have expired. 3

While on the sick list, yo may only drop trips at this time (not pick p or trade). An enhancement is being worked on to allow TTOT pick ps and trades while sick. There are restrictions involving certain seqence division qalification reqirements and HIT cities if a seqence is RED. 4

PART I: TTOT COMPUTER ENTRIES HOW TO What are the reqirements for entering a TTOT or TT transaction? Yo mst be in personal mode. Yo mst have trip trade AUTHORIZED. To set yor trip trade athorization to yes, enter HIY in personal mode (see page 7). The one exception is that trip trade does not have to be athorized for a posted seqence to be dropped. However, the pilot picking p the trip wold have to have TT athorized. If I forget the TTOT entries, where can they be fond? Enter HT to start any TTOT transaction. On-screen prompts are then displayed. Additionally, entries can be fond sing: HITRIP. Simply enter HITRIP for a listing of entries. HIDIR, hot path: HIDIR/CTRC/TTOT. The APA web site ( On the Member Services Home Page, click on Committees, then click on Technical Analysis and Schedling Committee, then click on TTOT Pilot User Gide. 5

HELP MENU TTOT basic help screen (optional) Pilot enters: HITRIP Response: ** WELCOME TO THE TRIP TRADING SYSTEMS ** TO DROP/PICKUP OR TRIP TRADE WITH OPEN TIME ENTER... HT TO TRIP TRADE WITH ANOTHER PILOT ENTER... HT/yor emp #/their emp # TO POST A TRIP ENTER... HIPOST/seq/date/type TO DISPLAY TTOT STATUS OF ALL YOUR SEQUENCES ENTER... HISEQ TO DISPLAY QUAL INFORMATION OF A SINGLE SEQUENCE ENTER... HIQUAL/seat/seq/date Explanation: The HITRIP command merely displays an onscreen listing of most of the entries necessary to perform TTOT transactions. It is not necessary to se this command; however, it may be helpfl if yo ve forgotten how to start an entry. 6

TRANSACTIONS Enable /athorize trip trading Pilot enters: HIY or HIN (Yes or No) Explanation: Trns trip trade athorization on and off. This controls both TTOT and pilot-to-pilot transactions. TT-YES or TT-NO is displayed on the HI-1. Entering TTOT mode starting a transaction Pilot enters: HT Response: A SMITH JR B-OPEN SEQ LIST Explanation: The pilot enters trip trade mode by typing HT. DECS responds by designating the pilot as A, and the open time list as B. HT is actally a shortct for HT/yor emp # /OPEN. Trade with open time Pilot enters: HT HTS/A/123/13JAN HTS/B/456/10JAN/FO* HTMD HZ *seat = CA, FO, FB, FC, FE 7

Explanation: The pilot enters trip trade mode by typing HT. Pilot A is trading seqence 123/13JAN for open time B seqence 456/10JAN. Since it is a First Officer seqence, and both the First Officer and International Officer positions may be in open time, pilot ends the third entry with FO, specifying which position is desired. The HTMD entry shffles dty free periods, if necessary, to accommodate the trade. HZ completes the transaction. NOTE: DECS responses and prompts following each pilot entry are not shown. Pick p from open time or from posted seqence list Pilot enters: HT HTO/B/123/13JAN/FO* HTMD HZ *seat = CA, FO, FB, FC, FE Explanation: This entry is sed for both open and posted seqences. The pilot enters trip trade mode (starts the transaction) by typing HT. The pilot designates a pick p from open time B by starting the second line with HTO/B, then specifies seqence 123/13JAN. Since it is a First Officer seqence and both the First Officer and International Officer positions may be in open time, the pilot ends the third entry with FO, specifying which position is desired. The HTMD entry shffles dty free periods, if necessary, to accommodate the trade. HZ completes the transaction. NOTE: DECS responses and prompts following each pilot entry are not shown. 8

Drop into open time Pilot enters: HT HTO/A/234/13JAN/type* HZ *type = PVD, CPA, or UNC** Explanation: The pilot enters trip trade mode by typing HT. The pilot A designates dropping the trip into open time by starting the second line with HTO/A, then specifies seqence 234/13JAN. The pilot ends the second line by specifying the desired pay type to cover the drop. Entering PVD or CPA will reslt in the pilot being immediately credited. Entering UNC will reslt in the pilot remaining ncredited, allowing make p, and to then be sbject to CPA fill p at the end of the month. HZ completes the transaction. NOTE: DECS responses and prompts following each pilot entry are not shown. ** An additional option that allows an ncredited drop with a conversion to PVDs at the end of the month if necessary, mch like the crrent EO system, is being discssed as a possible ftre enhancement. Manally moving DFPs dring a TTOT transaction Entries: HTD/A/length/start date to delete a DFP. HTA/A/length/start date to add a DFP. Normally, these entries are sed in lie of HTMD. Using HTMD may reslt in an ndesirable arrangement of DFPs in this case. 9

Example: Pilot enters: HT HTS/A/123/13JAN HTS/B/456/10JAN/FO HTD/A/48/10JAN HTA/A/48/13JAN HZ Explanation: The pilot is manally deleting a 48 on the 10 th and adding a 48 on the 13 th. All DFPs mst start at either 0001 or 15 mintes (30 mintes for international) after seqence termination. When deleting a DFP, the start date entered mst be the day the DFP actally starts. When adding a DFP, enter the last day of an existing seqence if yo desire the DFP to start immediately after the trip debrief, or any other day to start at The length can be a 24, 48, 72, or 96. All DFPs mst be legal combinations. Mltiple HTD and HTA entries are permissible dring a single transaction. NOTE: DECS responses and prompts following each pilot entry are not shown. Waive a 48-hor DFP to accommodate a trade Entry: HIWAV/ddmmm Example: Pilot enters: HIWAV/15JUN Only one stand-alone 48 can be waived per month. 10

Post seqence to be dropped Used by pilots to post a seqence they own to the open time list for pick p by another pilot, or to delete a previosly posted seqence from the posted seqence list, making it navailable for pick p by another pilot. Entry: HIPOST/seq/date/type (Credited Drop): (Uncredited Drop): HIPOST/123/1MAY/PVD (or CPA) HIPOST/123/1MAY/UNC To change a posting to a different pay option, reenter HIPOST with the new pay option. This can only be done if the seqence has not yet been picked p. Example: Pilot enters: HIPOST/3055/30MAR/PVD Response: CA JJ SMITH SEQ 3055/30MAR POSTED FOR PVD DROP YOU LL BE ADVISED VIA HI-6 MESSAGE IF ANOTHER PILOT PICKS UP THIS SEQUENCE. Delete a posting Entry: HIPOST/seq/date/ D Example: Pilot enters: HIPOST/15527/21JUN/D 11

Drop to another pilot (one-way trade) Entry: HT/yor emp #/their emp # Example: Pilot enters: HT/12345/67890 HTO/A/789/13JAN/CPA* HTMD HZ *can be PVD, CPA, or UNC Explanation: This mst be entered in the personal mode of the pilot dropping the seqence. The pilot picking p the seqence mst have trip trade athorized (HIY). The pilot enters the pilotto-pilot trip trade mode by typing HT/yor emp #/ their emp #. The pilot A designates dropping the trip to another pilot by starting the second line with HTO/A, then specifies seqence 789/13JAN. The HTMD entry shffles the acqiring pilot s DFPs, if necessary, to accommodate the trade. HZ completes the transaction. NOTE: DECS responses and prompts following each pilot entry are not shown. Trade with another pilot (pilot-to-pilot trade) Entry: HT/yor emp #/their emp # Example: Pilot enters: HT/12345/ HTS/A/123/13JAN HTS/B/433/10JAN HTMD HZ 12

Explanation: Either pilot may enter this. Both pilots mst have trip trade athorized (HIY). The pilot enters the pilot-to-pilot trip trade mode by typing HT/yor emp #/ their emp #. The second line designates that pilot A will be trading by starting with HTS/A then specifies seqence 123/13JAN. The next line specifies pilot B will trade seqence 433/10JAN to pilot A. The HTMD entry shffles one or both pilot s DFPs, if necessary, to accommodate the trade. HZ completes the transaction. NOTE: DECS responses and prompts following each pilot entry are not shown. Testing a trip trade Entry: HTT /yor emp #/OPEN for a TTOT transaction, or HTT /yor emp #/their emp # for a pilot-to-pilot transaction. Follow the on-screen prompts to make the remaining entries to complete a test of the transaction. Explanation: A pilot may test any transaction for legality, etc. withot the transaction actally taking place. All entries and responses are the same as a reglar transaction except the transaction is atomatically ignored after HZ is entered. If a transaction fails, the appropriate reasons will be displayed. 13

PART II: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION OPERATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS Can Crew Schedle ever trn off the TTOT system? Only nder extraordinary circmstances, sch as a severe weather system (hrricane, snowstorm), natral disaster, fleet gronding, or compter system malfnction. In any case, APA mst be immediately notified of the reason for, and expected dration of the TTOT shtdown. A partial system shtdown is an option nder these circmstances. Will Crew Schedle inpt TTOT transactions? Normally, no. TTOT is designed to be an atomated system that shold not reqire Crew Schedle to enter transactions. It contains on-screen prompts that gide yo throgh each transaction. If yo attempt a transaction and the system will not accept it, Crew Schedle may be able to provide assistance. Review the list of sitations for which yo may and may not call Crew Schedle, in DECS, at the hot path: HIDIR/CTRC/TTOT/CALL. Can TTOT transactions be denied? Pickps can be denied only nder extraordinary conditions. However, drops and trades may be restricted if projected coverage of open time is not adeqate (e.g., a RED seqence). What recorse do I have if I am denied a trip drop or I notice the seqence is RED? If yo cannot drop a trip, yo may post the trip sing the HIPOST entry in DECS. This will display the seqence below the line on the lower portion of the N4 display and make it available for pick p by another pilot. On-screen instrctions for posting are provided at the end of any denied drop or trade transaction. 20

What advantages are there to sing the HIPOST entry? When a pilot posts a trip, it is appended to the bottom half of the open time list (N4D or N4I) in effect, advertising the trip on an eqal basis with trips that are actally open. Posting may be accomplished after bids are final (approximately two days after bids close) p to sign-in time. Dring TTOT operating hors, posting enables a trip to be picked p withot any coordination between the pilot who posts it and the pilot who picks it p. If a posted trip is picked p, an HI-6 message will be sent to the pilot who originally owned the seqence, docmenting the transaction. Of corse, pilots may delete a posting at any time as well as reenter it with a different pay option (CPA/PVD/UNC). CAUTION Pilots who post a trip remain responsible for flying their trip nless it is picked p by another pilot. What happens if I have a trip posted, and it trns ot to be a prior removal seqence (a fly-thr seqence that is modified)? Crrently, the old seqence will remain on the posted list (N4), thogh it cannot be picked p as it is no longer valid after the new seqence is issed. Yo mst post the new seqence to make it available for pick p. The JSC is working on an improvement to this sitation. Okay, if I ve posted a trip for drop and it has not been picked p by the TTOT ct off time of 0001 the day prior, shold I delete it from the list? No, it is not necessary to do that. Yo can still drop the trip in a one-way pilot-to-pilot trade, p ntil seqence sign-in. Leaving it on the drop list is the best way for other pilots to know abot it. However, it will reqire coordination with the other pilot after 0001 the day prior. 21

Is the pilot-to-pilot trade system a part of TTOT? No, it is separate and is not constrained by any time limits. Either pilot can initiate a two-way trade, bt only the owning pilot can initiate a one-way trade (mst be in the owning pilot s personal mode). How do I prevent a pilot from giving me a trip withot coordination? If yo are concerned, do not leave yor trip trade mode AUTHORIZED (i.e., enter HIN for NO verss HIY for YES in yor personal mode). This may be changed in DECS, PCFOS, or AVRS. Trip trade stats is displayed at the top of the HI-1 as TT-YES or TT-NO, pls the HI-7 display will indicate TT AUTHORIZED. Remember, to be able to accomplish any TTOT or trip trade transaction (except the dropping of a posted seqence), trip trade mst be athorized. How do I cancel a transaction dring entry? Simply enter IG (for IGNORE) at any time prior to entering HZ, (which makes all applicable checks and finalizes the transaction), and the entire transaction will be cancelled. Is there some way to view the effects of a trade on my projections prior to attempting the transaction? Yes. Perform a trip trade test transaction in the TEST mode sing HTT, (e.g., HTT/yor emp # / OPEN). For test transactions with another pilot, enter HTT/ yor emp # / their emp #. From this point, all entries are the same as the actal trip trade mode. 22

How do I find ot what the different RMV and ADD codes sed on the HI-1 mean? They are available on the APA web site (in a ser-friendly format) and in DECS. From the APA Member Services home page, click info, then AA FOS Seqence Assignment/ Removal Codes ( In DECS, se GJA* for add codes, and GJR* for removal codes. Can I perform TTOT transactions with domestic trips if I m an international pilot (or vice-versa)? Transactions are contractally limited to those trips in yor for-part bid stats. International pilots are sometimes assigned domestic seqences in an international selection. For the prposes of TTOT (and make p, VJA, and reserve), these seqences even if they are entirely domestic flying are considered international seqences. They will be shown on the N4I display if they are open or posted, and may be picked p, traded, dropped, or posted by international pilots in that for-part bid stats. International pilots may not TTOT with normal domestic trips. However, they may still pick p domestic trips in make p, p to the monthly maximm. Can I drop all of my trips in a contractal month? Yes, sbject to RED limitations. However, pilots who perform no flying in one contractal month mst fly at least 50% of their trips the next month. To insre this crrency reqirement is met, a pilot may be denied a trip drop that wold otherwise be allowed. 23

RED-GREEN RULES What is meant when a seqence is referred to as RED or GREEN? A GREEN seqence indicates that there is projected to be ample reserve coverage for that seqence and it can therefore be dropped into open time withot restriction. It also may be traded for any seqence in open time for which yo wold otherwise be legal. A RED seqence indicates that there is a projected shortage of reserves for that seqence on that day. Therefore, sch seqences may not be dropped, and trades involving RED seqences are sbject to certain restrictions. Trip pick ps are not impacted by whether a seqence is RED or GREEN. What determines whether a seqence is RED or GREEN? Crew Schedle ses a compter model, the Reserve System Plotter, to evalate each for-part bid stats and designate each seqence as either RED or GREEN, depending on forecast reserve coverage. The Plotter is rn once daily, then pdated as TTOT transactions take place. The algorithm for the compter model is based on an extensive database kept for each bid stats. It factors in variables sch as crrent and projected open time, forecast makep and reserve availability (see Plotter definition on page ii). It is important to note that RED or GREEN cannot be determined simply by looking at the amont of time crrently open and the nmber of reserves crrently shown as available. If manning is adeqate, more seqences will be GREEN, and drops and trades will be mch less restricted. If manning is not adeqate, most seqences will be RED, and drops will be denied while trades will be more restricted. Cold the same seqence be GREEN for a First Officer, bt RED for a Captain? Yes. The RED-GREEN algorithm is based on for-part bid stats comprised of base, seat, eqipment, and division. In this case, the First Officer s bid stats has adeqate forecast 24

manning, while the Captain s does not. Within a bid stats, the color is based on seqence type (e.g., all three-day trips on the same day with the same qal reqirements will be the same color). Cold the same day be RED for one seqence, bt GREEN for another? Yes, there are several reasons that this might happen. Most often this is based pon the length of the trip, althogh qalification differences also play an important part. For instance, there cold be adeqate reserve coverage for a pilot to drop a two-day trip, bt not a three-day trip. Additionally, a trip reqiring special qalifications (sch as Tegcigalpa or LaPaz) may be RED and therefore case a drop or trade to be denied if there is not a qalified reserve pilot available to cover the trip on that day. Flight hor limitations sch as a Captain being restricted or a First Officer being low on time may preclde certain transactions. This cold reslt in a denial when attempting a drop or trade, or in not being qalified for an attempted pick p. What is meant by RED and REDDER? This refers to the relative manning level on different days for coverage of a particlar seqence. The Plotter (and internally, the TTOT system) predicts the nmber of srpls reserves or nmber of reserves short for coverage. (e.g., +1 for one srpls reserve or -2 for two reserves short of being able to cover forecast open time). However, the pilot will only see GREEN or RED. If a seqence is RED, this indicates a projected shortage of pilots to cover that seqence. A REDDER seqence wold indicate an even greater projected shortage of pilots to cover that seqence. Is there a way to check the stats of seqences on the N4D (N4I)? Yo can check the color and qalification restrictions of any seqence by sing the HIQUAL entry: HIQUAL/seat/seq/date. 25

What type of transactions can I perform with a RED seqence? Pickps are always allowed. Drops are not allowed. Trades may be allowed. Same day RED-RED trades (meaning both seqences originate on the same calendar day) are permitted if the seqence being taken from open time covers the same or greater nmber of calendar days as the seqence being given p, generally with no limitations on hors. RED-RED trades of trips originating on different days are sally permitted if the seqence being taken from open time covers the same or greater nmber of calendar days as the seqence being given p and overall coverage is not degraded (i.e., the trip being picked p is REDDER ). For instance, trading a three-day trip on a RED Monday for a three-day trip on a REDDER Thrsday. RED-RED trades also reqire that the trip being dropped have the same or lesser Division and Nav qals as the trip being picked p. Crew Schedle may make case-by-case exceptions to this reqirement, so if yo are denied a RED-RED trade for this reason, yo may call Crew Schedle and ask if they can permit the trade. Overlapping RED-RED trades are permitted provided the trip being dropped has the same or lesser division qalifications as the trip being picked p. An overlapping trade is one where the trip being picked p starts at least a day earlier than the trip being dropped and mst finish the same day or later than the trip being dropped. Posting a trip is always allowed. Doing so allows the trip to be picked p by another pilot withot regard to RED restrictions. 26

PAY What flying hor limitations apply to TTOT? TTOT transactions are sbject to the same limitations as make p, pilot-to-pilot trades, and VJA; a pilot s schedled projection (SPROJ) may not exceed monthly max pls five (5) hors, and a pilot s credited projection (PROJ) may not exceed 85 hors as a reslt of a TTOT transaction. SPROJ over the monthly max will be placed in CPA. How may a pilot get paid for a trip drop? Pilots have the option of either a credited or an ncredited drop. Credited drop. Allows the pilot to immediately pay for the drop with CPA or PVDs. A credited drop leaves a pilot s PROJ, PPROJ, SPROJ and garantee nchanged from their vales prior to the drop. Therefore, the pilot s available CPA (inclding negative CPA) or PVD balance mst be sfficient to pay for the entire trip. Pilots will designate their desired credited pay option by entering either CPA or PVD, as appropriate, dring the TTOT or pilot-to-pilot oneway trade transaction. Uncredited drop. Allows the pilot to not be credited for the vale of a dropped seqence. Ths, a pilot s PROJ, PPROJ, and SPROJ are redced by the vale of the seqence dropped allowing the pilot to sbseqently increase projections either throgh make p, VJA, or TTOT. Garantee will also be redced if the drop redces PPROJ below garantee, as discssed below. If a pilot s PPROJ remains below the monthly max at the end of the month, the CPA bank will atomatically be debited to fill p to the monthly max from the greater of PPROJ or GUAR. Pilots will designate this ncredited pay option by entering UNC dring the TTOT or pilot-to-pilot one-way trade transaction. 27

Negative CPA may be sed to pay for both credited and ncredited drops. For a credited drop, the pilot s CPA accont will be debited, p to the 25-hor negative bank limit, if the pilot enters CPA as the pay option code dring the TTOT transaction. Therefore, if yo do not want a negative CPA balance, and yo do not have enogh positive CPA to pay for the fll vale of the trip, do not se the CPA pay option code. For an ncredited drop to be paid for with negative CPA at the end of the month, the pilot mst enter HIFILLUP by the date pblished on the bid sheet cover page. The pilot s CPA will be debited at the end of the month to fill the pilots PPROJ p to the monthly maximm, sbject to the 25- hor negative bank limit. Format: HIFILLUP/ mmm. The capability to pay for ncredited drops with PVDs after the end of the month essentially how EOs are crrently treated is not crrently available, bt discssions are ongoing abot making this option available. How is a pilot s garantee adjsted for TTOT transactions? Garantee can only be redced by an ncredited drop or trade. Pilots may drop or trade below garantee with both TTOT and pilot-to-pilot transactions. Adjstments to garantee will be based on the entire vale of a seqence dropped or picked p, or the net vale of time dropped/picked p in a trade. For time dropped, the pilot s garantee will be adjsted to the greater of: PPROJ mins the vale of the seqence dropped/traded, or, Garantee mins the vale of the seqence dropped/ traded. A field in the HI-1 header, ADJ GUAR, will display the crrent garantee as adjsted for trades. 28

A pilot s garantee will be restored by the vale of the seqence picked p or the net vale of a trade, not to exceed the normal garantee. Example 1: (75 MMax / 64 Gar) PPROJ GUAR Start of month Uncredited drop: -5 hors Trip cancellation: -10 hors Trade 15hr for 10hr trip: net -5hrs Pick p: +12 hors Trade 5hr for 15hr trip: net +10hrs Example 2: (75 MMax / 64 Gar) PPROJ GUAR Start of month Military drop: -15 hors Trade 10hr for 5hr trip: net -5 hrs Uncredited Drop: -10 hors Trip cancellation: -5 hors Trade 5hr for 17hr trip: net +12 hrs Pick p: +18 hors How may a pilot get paid for time lost in a trip trade? TTOT trades reslting in a loss of time will be ncredited nless the pilot reqests otherwise. Time lost in a pilot-to-pilot trade, where both pilots are trading seqences, is always ncredited. The pilot may reqest CPA credit for the net vale of time lost in a TTOT trade. If the pilot makes this election, the pilot s CPA accont will be debited, and PROJ, PPROJ, SPROJ, and GUAR will all be restored. Electing CPA credit for time lost in a trade will decrease vlnerability for reassignment or low-on-time assignment, bt it will also decrease legality for make p, VJA, and TTOT. 29

Pilots not electing CPA credit for time lost in a trade will still receive CPA fill p at the end of the month on top of the greater of either PPROJ or GUAR, as applicable, p to the monthly maximm. NOTE: This provision will not be atomated for the foreseeable ftre, so pilots mst advise Pay Comp immediately after the trade is complete that they desire CPA credit for the trade. We recommend sending an HISEND message to Pay Comp so there is no dobt as to when yo advised them. Realize also that Pay Comp does not work 24 hors a day, so it may take at least a day for the CPA adjstment to be reflected in yor HI-1. Since restoring yor projections will affect yor legality, yo may not reqest CPA credit for the vale of time lost in a trade after performing make p, VJA, or TTOT. Bottom line: Advise Pay Comp immediately via HISEND if yo desire to elect this option. If yo send Pay Comp an HISEND message reqesting CPA credit for time lost in a trade, yo may have to wait for the CPA adjstment to be reflected on yor HI-1. If, dring this delay, yo are reassigned or given a lowon-time assignment by Crew Schedle to which yo otherwise wold not have been assigned had yor PROJ and SPROJ been adjsted for the CPA, yo may ask to speak to the Crew Schedle MOD and explain the sitation. If yo can t resolve the problem, fly the trip, bt call an APA Contract Administrator as soon as possible. If this occrs dring APA s normal bsiness hors, a Contract Administrator may be able to help resolve the problem. How is a pilot paid if a trip is cancelled after picking p a trip that projects the pilot over the monthly max? The answer depends on when the cancellation actally occrs. If the cancellation occrs prior to completing the picked p seqence, and SPROJ is redced below the monthly max as a reslt, then no CPA credit will reslt from flying the trip. Any picked p seqence a pilot completes (see the following example) that raises SPROJ above the monthly maximm will increase CPA* by the amont the SPROJ (not redced for nderfly) exceeds the monthly max at seqence completion, pls overfly (if any). If a trip cancellation sbseqently redces PPROJ below garantee, garantee is not redced, and CPA remains intact. If, by the end of the month, the pilot does not sbseqently increase his PPROJ above garantee, then he will be paid an amont eqal to garantee pls CPA fill p, p to the monthly maximm. 30

Example: (75 MMax / 64 Gar) PROJ PPROJ SPROJ CPA GUAR Start of month Pick p: +10 hors (MU or TTOT) * 64 Overfly dring MM trip: +1 hor * 64 Completion of MM seqence 81 81(75) 80 0*(6) 64 Trip cancellation: -15 hors 66 66(60) 65 0*(6) 64 Pay Comp adjstment to CPA for MM trip at end of month End of month pay = GUAR + CPA 70** *Pay Comp does not immediately credit time above the max to CPA. The adjstment will not take place ntil the end of the month and will apply to MM trips as well as TTOT trips above the max. The time will be retained in PPROJ ntil that time. The nmbers in parentheses are the actal vales associated with these fields while the other nmbers are what will be displayed on the HI-1. SPROJ and CPA amonts may be adjsted as a reslt of nderfly as well. **This vale will not actally be displayed in PPROJ on the HI-1, bt will be paid. How do TTOT transactions affect fly-thr time? For TTOT drops accomplished prior to the completion of the fly-thr seqence (inclding debrief time), FTCPA will be immediately credited to the pilot s PROJ, PPROJ, and SPROJ p to the monthly maximm. Example 1: (75 MMax) PROJ PPROJ SPROJ FTCPA Start of month Pls 10 hors of fly-thr TTOT drop five-hor trip prior to termination of the fly-thr trip

Using the same example, what is the effect of overfly and/or nderfly dring the portion of the fly-thr seqence in the new month, followed by a TTOT trip drop entered prior to the termination of the fly-thr seqence? Example 2: (75 MMax) PROJ PPROJ SPROJ FTCPA Start of month Pls 10 hors of fly-thr Overfly 30 mintes :30 Underfly 30 mintes :30 7:30 TTOT drop five-hor trip prior to termination of the fly-thr trip :30 2:30 For TTOT drops accomplished after the completion of the flythr seqence (inclding debrief time), FTCPA will not change. PROJ, PPROJ, and SPROJ are simply redced by the vale of the seqence dropped. Example 3: (75 MMax) PROJ PPROJ SPROJ FTCPA Start of month Pls 10 hors of fly-thr TTOT drop five-hor trip after termination of fly-thr trip The final example illstrates how FTCPA increases for a TTOT pick p completed prior to completion of a fly-thr seqence. Example 4: (75 MMax) PROJ PPROJ SPROJ FTCPA Start of month Pls 10 hors of fly-thr TTOT pick p seven-hor trip before termination of fly-thr trip 79 79(75)**

Explanation: TTOT actally acts as an adjstment to yor schedle for next month for all transactions that occr prior to the end of the crrent month, which incldes any fly-thr seqences. These adjstments are made as if any fly-thr had not yet been applied. FTCPA is then recalclated sing the new schedle reslting from the TTOT transaction. This type of adjstment is made for all transactions that occr prior to the termination of any fly-thr seqence. NOTE: Prior to the pickp, the statement at the top of the N4 display (in personal mode) wold have indicated that only 5:00 hors cold have been picked p, which is not accrate in this case. See the qestion on the N4D(I) display on page 15 for additional information. **Pay Comp does not immediately credit time (SPROJ) above the max to CPA. In this case, for hors wold go CPA. The adjstment will not take place ntil the end of the month and will apply to MM trips as well as TTOT trips above the max. The time will be retained in PPROJ ntil that time. The nmbers in parentheses are the actal vales associated with these fields while the other nmbers are what will be displayed on the HI-1. 33

SENIORITY Is it tre that TTOT operates withot regard to seniority? Yes. TTOT is first come, first served. However, SEP provides a limited opportnity to inject an element of seniority into the process. The Schedle Enhancement Period (SEP) is a seniority-based schedle enhancement rn that allows pilots the opportnity to modify one seqence of their bid award prior to the start of the contractal month. SEP bids rn prior to TTOT opening. See the companion SEP Pilot User Gide for more specifics. After bids are final and before the SEP rn, posted trips can be dropped, picked p, and traded sing pilot-to-pilot transactions. Does a non-seniority system infer pilots mst race to the compter the moment TTOT is trned on to be able to se the system? Althogh the open time pictre is constantly changing as transactions occr, experience has shown that the amont of the available open time decreases dramatically after TTOT opens. Althogh additional opportnities may present themselves as the month progresses, the greatest variety of open time is available when TTOT first opens. 34
