1 Y9 ADVENTURE RACE HONG KONG 2015 RCHK-Y CHALLENGE The objective of this program is for the students to manage their time and the resources given to them by APA to e!ectively complete 5 separate Adventure challenges. Students will be given a map and list of check points that they must get to each day, these maps will be given out the night before each activity begins. The students will then have the evening to plan and prepare what they need to get, where they need to go, and how they will get there. APA will provide teams with a budget everyday to cover food, and transport, but it will be up to the students as to how they spend this money. The teams will be split into 4 di!erent locations all throughout Hong Kong. Each team will go to all 4 locations, but in a di!erent order. On the final day all the groups gather together for a finale race throughout HK island & Kowloon finishing back at RCHK itself. 2 PROGRAM Location 1 Sai Kung Country Park Teams will hike into location and speedboat out the next day Teams will compete in land and water based challenges around the campsite: Push Bike Obstacle course Pioneering Rafting Baranian Tank Students prepare their own meals over a campfire Briefing for the next days activities Planning and prep time for the next day Campfire Overnight in Tents Location 2 Kowloon Peak Teams will compete in many challenges in the Kowloon peak area: Orienteering course High Ropes course with climbing wall Team initiative challenges Building and firing a trebuchet Teams prepare their own dinners Brief for the next day Planning for next days activities Night hike to HK s most spectacular view Overnight in Tents Location 3 A Remote Island Island Adventure Challenge (optional high elements, Abseil, Tyrolean traverse & Jetty jump) Teams prepare their own dinners over campfire Brief for the next day Night hike to rock out crop to view the lights of HK Island Planning for next days activities Overnight in Tents

3 PROGRAM Location 4 West side Hong Kong Island Teams will race from the youth hostel down through Hong Kong Country Park and up to The Peak. Followed by a bus journey to Wan Chai Gap continuing to navigate through Aberdeen Country Park, before finishing in Aberdeen itself. Competing intellectual and physical challenges along the way Students prepare their own meals with a stove Briefing for the next days activities Planning and prep time for the next day Overnight in Dormitory Final Day - Kowloon & HK City Voyager Challenge Teams will race against each other to complete as many check points as possible located in the city area of Kowloon and HK Island within a certain time frame. The race will have a designated start area, and will finish at RCHK Wrap up and final race awards at the School

4 ACCOMMODATION The wilderness campsites have basic facilities. Dormitory locations provide their own linen as well as basic facilities. All locations are safe and secure. MEALS Students will be given a budget and will have to plan their own meals accordingly. APA sta! will be on hand to advise with good healthy options and ensure that appropriate food is purchased. Some meals will be provided and the students will be advised on this at the beginning of the challenge EQUIPMENT APA uses and maintains a high standard of equipment for all of its activities. APA provides their own PFDs (Personal Floatation Devices), ropes, helmets, harnesses and other technical equipment. SAFETY All lead APA sta! are First Aid qualified and carry radios, mobile phones and first aid kits at all times. APA follows a safety management system developed from decades of in-house senior team experience and influenced by several leading national governing bodies including: British Canoe Union, New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Award, Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, UK's Mountain Leader Training Board and USA's Rescue 3 International amongst others. APA has developed professional skills training programs for everything from mountain biking to rock rescue, as well as delivers Risk Management course for International school faculty. FACILITATION Our company specializes in facilitation with a high sta! to student ratio of 1:12, and 1:6 when using high elements and water based activities. Each group of students will have their own APA facilitator for the entire program. Team names, song/chants and team goals will be established and team reflection and reviews carried out after each activity. Certificates will be given at the end of program.

5 OUR TEAM COST Program cost includes accommodation, meals (including snacks and filtered water), all transport once in Hong Kong, experienced facilitators, program delivery, all activity & safety equipment and public liability insurance during activities.
