Welcome Aboard! Princess Cruises' core values give direction to employees about what is truly important to the company. They must be a part of everything we do. We serve. We respect our team. We innovate. We are consistent. We are accountable. We do it right. When you put these ideas together, we are The Consummate Host expert at making our guests feel welcomed and relaxed. We see the needs of our customers and co-workers before they ask, and always respond willingly. We think of the little things that will make our guests happy and comfortable. We are all consummate hosts to our passengers, to our business partners, and to each other. The information provided is designed to celebrate these values and give you an outline of what you're going to need to know as you pack your bags and embark on your journey. 01

02 Preparing To Go

Preparing To Go As you prepare to go to your ship, it s important to pack the right things. In this course, you will learn what you must bring. PASSPORT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Street Clothes Most of the time you will wear your uniform. However when you are off duty, you may wear your own clothes. Bring enough clothes for a one week trip. You will have very limited space to store your clothes. The less you bring, the more comfortable you will be. 03

Documents It is very important that you bring your passport, visas and medical certificate. We suggest that you make extra copies in case they get lost. You will want to keep your travel documents in your carry on in case your luggage is lost during travel. PASSPORT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Swimsuit You will probably want to bring your swimsuit so you can use the crew pool. Uniform Items You may be asked to supply some of your own uniform items. Be sure to check with your recruitment office for details. You will receive the rest of your uniforms when you arrive on the ship. Seasonal Clothes Be sure to pack the right clothes for your full itinerary. Bring warm clothing for cool climates such as Alaska, the Baltics or South America. You can learn more about your itinerary at 04

Toiletries Pack the toiletries that you will need for day-to-day personal maintenance; however, you don't need to pack enough for your entire contract. You can get most items in the onboard CRUISE Shop or the ports of call. Sewing Kit Have a small sewing kit on hand to make sure you always look your best. Alarm Clock You will probably have some very early shifts, so it's a good idea to bring a battery operated alarm clock. Camera You may want a camera to help you remember all the memories you'll make onboard and in port. 05

Money Wages are paid at the end of each month, so bring enough cash to last until you are paid. You may also need U.S. dollars while traveling to the ship. U.S. Dollars can be purchased at most large banks and airports. It is a good idea to keep your money in your carry on bag to make sure you always have it, even if your luggage is lost while traveling. Prescriptions Prescriptions are very difficult to fill when you're away from your own doctor. You must have enough prescription medication for the entire length of your contract. Do not pack prescription medication in your luggage as it may get lost. Keep your medication in your carry on bag. You're all finished packing! You should still have some extra room in your suitcase. Remember that you will need space for your uniform and anything you purchase during your contract. Airlines Check with your airline about: weight limits for luggage (Princess will not reimburse overweight bags) rules for liquids in carryon bags 06

Airlines Princess allows you to bring two bags onboard. If the airline charges for a second bag, keep the receipt. This can be reimbursed onboard. 07

08 Joining the Ship

Joining the Ship Your suitcases are packed, and you're ready to go. Most likely you will fly to the city where you will join the ship. You will be issued an electronic ticket. This means that all you need to do is show your passport and your printed flight itinerary at the airport. It is important to have your passport, visas and joining letter when you arrive in the airport. You will need to go through customs and immigration at the airport. Here they will check your bags and ask you a few questions about why you are traveling. Provide your joining documents to these officers and let them know you are a seafarer with Princess Cruises. 6 5 VISA Doe AC John T 25/Oct/ /Oct/2018 -M XXXXX XXXXXX Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. 12 You will also need to pick up your bags from the luggage carousel area. Your joining letter will tell you what the next step is. Your joining letter will either inform you that you will take a free shuttle bus to the hotel or that you will be met by the local Port Agent. Look for Hotel Shuttle and bus information signs at the airport. INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT HOTEL SHUTTLE The Port Agent works for Princess Cruises like you. He or she will help out while the ship is in port. INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Part of the Port Agent s job is to organize transportation for crewmembers when they join or leave the ship in this port. They also help out with general requests and challenges while the ship is in this city. If something goes wrong, look at your joining letter. You will find contact information for the Port Agent. You will also find an emergency number for Princess Cruises. 10

When you arrive at the hotel you will need to check in at the front desk. During your stay your meals will be paid for by Princess Cruises. You will receive meal vouchers to use at the hotel restaurant. The vouchers are good for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Princess Cruises will not pay for alcohol, in-room movies, or mini-bar expenses. The Port Agent will meet you in the hotel lobby very early in the morning. It is a good idea to arrange for a wake-up call with the hotel. You will probably arrive to the port with a few other joining crew members. When you arrive at the port, you will need to go through security and your luggage will be scanned. 11

Look for a sign for new joiners. While you are still in the Terminal you will meet a few important people on the ship. The Human Resources Manager is the Human Resources representative onboard. New Joiners It is their job to make sure that all the crewmembers on this ship are well taken care of. You will also meet the Crew Manager. If you have any questions about your wages, banking or contract, you can speak to the Crew Manager. New Joiners Before you can get on the ship you will need to take care of a few business items. First, you need to sign on to the Ship's Articles. This is an official document that gives all the details of your contract with Princess. You will need to sign that you are in agreement before you board the ship. New Joiners You also need to sign a Health Declaration form, which says that you are not sick. 12

F.A.Q. Frequently Asked Questions Before Joining Your Ship What documents do I need to take with me? You will need to bring your passport, relevant visas, medical certificate and any safety related certificates. Also make sure you bring your Joining Letter and flight details. What should I pack? Pack your suitcase as if you are going on a trip for approximately two weeks. Bring enough toiletries and clothing for that time period. Also, consider the region where your ship will be sailing. For example, if the ship is sailing in Alaska, you may want to bring a few items of warm clothing. Remember that you will be receiving your uniform when you arrive onboard. However, you will need to bring your own shoes for work. Are there any restrictions on the amount of luggage I can bring on the plane? Luggage restrictions vary with each airline and there are often fees for extra baggage. It is best to contact the airline you will be traveling with to get informationabout its policies. What happens after my plane arrives in the city where I am joining the ship? Once you have completed any local Immigration and Customs procedures, refer to your joining letter. This will tell you what to do once you arrive at your destination. In most cases, there will be hotel information included in your joining letter and you will take a free shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel. However, in some ports you will be met and picked up by the local Port Agent. They are easily identified, as they usually hold a sign with your name on it. What is a Port Agent? A Port Agent is the contact for the ship while in a port. Port Agents organize transportation for crewmembers joining or leaving a ship in their specific port. They also assist with general requests and challenges that arise while the ship is in port. How do I locate the Port Agent if something goes wrong? Contact information for the local Port Agent is included on your joining letter in case there is a problem after you arrive. Also included in the joining letter are emergency contact details for Princess Cruises. What about meals? Once you get to the hotel, the staff at the Front Desk will advise you about meal vouchers or an allowance for food. These vouchers can be used towards food items in the hotel s restaurant. The vouchers are typically only valid for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Any additional items (in-room movies, alcoholic beverages) will be at your own expense. How do I get to the ship the next day? While you are checking in at the hotel, the Front Desk staff will advise any pick up times for Princess Cruises crewmembers the following morning from the hotel lobby. Depending on the port you are joining, these pick up times can be very early, so be sure to set an alarm clock or request a wake-up call. If you were picked up by the Port Agent, he or she will tell you the next morning s pickup time. What should I wear when joining the ship? While you are allowed to wear your own clothing when you first arrive at the ship, bear in mind that first impressions will be made the moment you set foot on the gangway. A more conservative appearance is preferred. What will happen when I finally reach the ship? After you are picked up from your hotel you will be brought to the port and the waiting ship. From there you will be met by a member of the ship s company who will escort you through port security and proceed with sign on procedures. Once onboard, you will be met by a representative from your department, who will take you to your cabin and familiarize you with the ship. pcs1008_1006_faq
